Mike T was catching a few strays last year due to his retention of Matt Canada and rightfully so, but credit to Coach T, he recognized the problem, stopped digging and got himself out of the hole. Now look at the Steelers and Tomlin. This is a segment posing the question if the Steelers are the best team in the AFC and Tomlin is almost certainly CotY.

As a Steelers fan for over 50 years, I can say that we are pretty spoiled. The fact that Tomlin hasn't had a losing season is lost on a lot of Steelers fans. That said, while that is an AMAZING accomplishment, if the ultimate goal every year is to win the Super Bowl and you're not doing that, what good is never having a losing season? Tomlin is a GREAT coach but if he doesn't win a Super Bowl soon, it doesn't really mean much other than some records and awards.

    • @JayminStation

It’s ironic that Tomlin is almost too good. They will never be team to draft high because their records are too high. So they can’t draft a good quarterback. They gotta make do with what they can attain.

Some people act like beeing around .500 for a decade is our superbowl...
If things working good it`s allways Magic Mike - if things went south the end of every seasons (when it really matters) he has nothing to do with it.
If you`re a Steelers fan for 50 years then I wonder why you`re happy with the last decade. I saw other times and for me my Steelers are made for deep playoff runs, division titles and superbowls. But with Tomlin we`re the kings of mediocrisy.
We are solid at the moment but I have a lot of concerns about the offense. Arthur Smith playbook looks like Matt Canadas with tight ends and some deep shots. It`s like: First and Najee, second and Warren and a deep shot on 3rd (even when we need just a yard).
Smith wasn`t a good choice in my opinion but everything that Magic Mike does is fine, right?

Tomlin was delivered one of the greatest QBs of all time and rode that for most of his tenure. Once Ben retired, he immediately had one of the greatest defenses in Steeler's history, which he has proceeded to waste year after year because he refused to fire the worst OC in league history for oh about...2.5 years after it was obvious to everyone else. We never actually had a good read on Pickett because of this stupidity, except for the one game without canada vs cinci where he looked great. Wasting the killer Bs...losing to inferior opponents repeatedly in the playoffs....coming completely unprepared to compete over and over...horrible clock and challenge management...It's just ridiculous. The Steelers' GMs should get all the credit for feeding this man championship caliber teams over and over...which he then squanders. Every tomlin team underperforms. They are just so stacked with talent that people can't separate the two. And Tomlin talks a good game, which is NOT the same as good coaching.

  • @camicawber

The 2020 team felt like it underachieved, but even when they started 11-0, I remember the general consensus being that they weren't THAT good. And they lost 4 of their last 5 - 5 of 6 if we count the playoff game against the Browns. But they also had 3 turnovers that helped the Browns to 28 first-quarter points, and five turnovers in the game. They should have won that game and advanced to play Buffalo and I don't see how all those turnovers are on Tomlin.
Probably the 2017 team, too, for losing to Jacksonville in the first round. That wasn't the turnover disaster that the Cleveland game was, but still the Steelers had 2 turnovers (actually three, since they turned it over on downs once) to Jacksonville's none - and one of those turnovers led directly to a Jacksonville TD, which seems pretty big in what ended up being a 1-score game. But then the year before was the last AFC Championship game.
I feel like we have a lot more examples of the Steelers exceeding expectations - like going 9-8 with the combo of Kenny Pickett and Mitchell Trubisky or 10-7 with those guys and Mason Rudolph. Or going 8-8 in a season where 14 of the games were started by Rudolph or Devlin Hodges.

They are flirting around with little flashes of it but still are prone to sputtering. Wilson missed a bunch of games tomstart the season but if they can really get it going and gel offensively they can beat any team, any time. They are still vulnerable rn with the inconsistencies on offense.

The Steelers have had a pretty good season, but it worries me that their offense can't score more than 20 pts against any teams with an above average defense. With their defense though, they usually don't have to. I think they split their games against Cinci and Cleveland, and they lose to the Eagles. The KC game and last Baltimore games could go either way. I think the Steelers finish 11-6 or 12-5.

Don`t get me wrong: I´m not happy with Arthurs Smiths playcalling and I saw it coming. Way to conservative and predicable, struggles in red zone - same as in Atlanta. Every drive is: First and Najee, second and Warren and a deep shot on 3rd (even if we need just a yard). There are drives when he ran 6 times after another... And sometimes it`s looks like Matt Canada offense with tight ends. I`m not a fan and we have should hired other OCs. But Magic Mike will never hire someone that overshines him. And so we are here and looking for another .500 season and a loss in the wildcard or first round.
