I first heard this concerto (Kunzel) a few months back on the radio. I've been listening to this particular recording quite a bit. Tremendous. This is a criminally neglected masterpiece. It's such an American work but without too much jazz/blues and yet pays proper homage to European masters like Rachmaninoff. It's always so satisfying to find a hidden treasure like this. Pure gold!
Wonderful performance of a badly under rated work. I loved Anderson's music as a teenager because is was so bright and optimistic. It epitomised the Can Do zeitgeist of '50s America that the world owed so much thanks to......warts and all. Viva that spirit!
I originally heard this work live at a concert, and subsequently acquired the sheet music for it. From what I understand, Anderson originally had intentions of revising it, but never got around to it.
