I’m an accountant and I’ve been puzzled by this since the case came up. It would be legal fees. There’s no other category for it.

See, here is where I scratch my head "hide the reason for the payment" that is as flimsy AF of an argument as you get. It was trump's accountant (cant remember his name...Anderson?) Who said that he got calls from Cohen about the money, so he asked Wesileberg, NOT Trump, and Wesileberg told him they needed an invoice first. Cohen was the one who sent an "invoice" stating is was retention fees.
So Trump, nor his people designated wrong. Cohen was the one who, when asked to send a bill/invoice claimed it was retainers.
So far, in this case, EVERY witness by the prosecution have pointed their fingers at Cohen. And most of them have also turned on themselves. It's becomes clearer with every witness that (I already knew this, but this case is proving in) this was all a grand conspiracy by Cohen, Davidson, Avenatti and Stormy (and possibly Gila[?], Stormy's manager) to extort Trump.
I mean they even have the E-Mail trail from Stormy to Davidson saying this needs to be done before the election if they want to have leverage, and Davidson then tells Cohen to get it settled before the election or they wont have anything, and Cohen agrees....the guy who's *supposed* to be working for Trump agrees to settle this while it's hot, when any actual layer working in his clients interest would prolong it so that it had no teeth.
The email chain shows a direct conspiracy between Stormy, Davidson and Cohen.

Plenty of politicians have done this. For the same reasons. I bet if you look enough the payments were listed as something else. Which is why they didn’t go after Trump to begin with. The law in New York is for state politicians not the president so they are totally involved with prosecutorial misconduct. He did say the he spoke with Gibson on a recorded line, so at least there is a way to prove it one way or the other. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the tape has "mysteriously disappeared". Avenatti has the same credibility as Cohen, but in this case there could be supporting evidence out there
Recall the witness. She testified that she would "go to jail before paying". Probe that statement and make her take the 5th. ALL of her testimony would be struck.
