    Greetings from New Zealand. I've just watched your touching video about grieving and pet loss. I saw your beloved Finn was a Kiwi boy 🥰 I had to made the decision to euthanise my rescue cat Lucy aka Lula, nearly 15 we think, maybe 16, on Friday and I feel broken. Just wanted to say thank you, your words and empathy helped. Today, luckily a quiet Sunday, I stood outside the vet surgery where I left my Lula, talked to her and told her I love her and goodbye, but mostly thank you for being my best baby girl. Walking out of there without her was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I don't have other pets and I live alone. The ringing silence has been excruciating because I thought it was loss but realising that we sense our beloved pets with all our senses puts a different spin on things. I'm grateful for the close bond we shared. I could have my back turned and I'd know instinctively to turn around and open the door for her Lula. I'm incredibly grateful for everything she brought into my life and that's what I'm trying to focus on, not the grief and the euthanasia guilt. I have her imprint on her beanbag, her favourite chairs and cushions outside still with her fur on them. Her bowls are clean but I can't remove them and even though I always kept her in at night, I now open the cat flap in case there's been a terrible mistake and she needs to come home. I'll try to put some of your strategies in place, but right now I can't have anyone talk to me in person because of the tears, except my sisters in the UK. Once again thanks to you, and Finn, his energy was a very important part of that video, I definitely sensed his presence with you today 🙏🌈 🇳🇿

    Unfortunately, I had, in the past, had 1 vet that, for instance, forced me to spend countless amounts of money tell me my dogs itching and constant ear infections were because I needed to feed grain free kibble. This vet was against feeding raw. I have German Shepherds, so food is often a problem. I spent 2 years doing it her way, switching from this food to that, even got put on the prescription food that had to much vit d. Thank goodness I stopped when I saw something was not right. She didn't do allergy testing even though I told her the symptoms felt seasonal. We are surrounded by alfalfa, corn and wild animals. In the end, I ended up driving 150 miles to a different vet to find out I was right. It wasn't her food, raw was OK but she ended up with hearing loss from the messing around.
    Unfortunately, it isn't always easy to find a competent vet.

    I’ve been feeding my cats and dogs Weruva canned food. My diabetic cats lived past 20yrs young. My last Belgian Malinois lived to 18yrs young.
    I completely trust this brand.

    Thank you Dr. Katie. Is there an alternative Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis for totally hairless pets? We suspect heavy metals, but how to test without fur?

      You're welcome! Unfortunately, we don't have many options for our furless pets. There are mold urine tests that can be done through RealTime Laboratories, but heavy metals are harder to do since they are not as accurate with blood and urine testing.

    My cat eats dry and a little bit of liquified wet food. How am I supposed to get her to eat a healthy diet?

    • @KhaleesiCirilla
      @KhaleesiCirilla 2 месяца назад

      increase the wet food amount and decrease dry, until there's no dry food left. set proper meal times, no free-feeding :) if your cat eats wet food happily, then start slowly incorporating raw meats, start w small amount, it might take time before your cat realizes it's edible

      @KhaleesiCirilla Thank you! Proper meal times are in place. Sometimes the food is not even eaten during the day, so it becomes dinner. Eventually would like to switch her over to healthier food. She is very fussy. Has been to the vet twice for stuffy congested nose and all they want to do is give antibiotics and she still continues to have a stuffy nose. That doesn't work for me. Still adjusting and trying to figure out a lot of things because she is a rescue.

      @@mleine8926 Just wanted to pop in and share two of my fav supplements that are whole food/glandulars for kitties with recurring upper respiratory issues are Standard Process Feline Immune Support thenaturalpetdoctor.standardprocess.com/products/feline-immune-system-support AND Standard Process VF Thymex for Pets thenaturalpetdoctor.standardprocess.com/products/vf-thymex. You would follow the dosing on the label but they are both really helpful for gently stimulating the immune system to help clear infections while supporting the rest of the body with whole food nutrition ❤️
