      We need this video at 4-5 mil views for 4-5 pens , it is doable if the edge pens are slightly recessed (middle one from middle of 5 is longer then the neighboring 2) and he is in the middle, he can draw with 4-5 (slightly delayed but doable).

    I'm trying to figure out why drawing like a printer makes you draw better, but i realised that it shares a common phenomenon with an experiment where a more difficult font was used in an exam paper, more students actually scored a higher grade. this is caused by the fact that because students are not able to immediately comprehend what they saw and had to spend effort to process words more thoroughly and didn't skim through minor details. I believe why jazza did better when drawing as a printer was because he became more cautious when recreating his sketch which allowed him to push his drawing further and made it even better than his sketch which he is very much used to! just something cool I notice d

    • @MyFictionalChaos
      @MyFictionalChaos 2 года назад +12

      It's not "something cool you noticed." I think it is just common sense that when you focus on something harder that you perform better. A typical sketch would not be as good as what is essentially focusing on individual lines and pixels. That is why pixel or pointilism art is seen as more detailed. More time is typically spent on it to make sure it is correct, per the reference

    • @artymis2459
      @artymis2459 2 года назад +60

      @@MyFictionalChaos i was trying to make the point that because the task at hand was more difficult, this made him put in more effort into doing it and it was not attributed to the fact that he did better just because the method was better haha but you're right too, it may very well just be common sense to smart individuals like you, but of course it's still something i feel was not blatantly obvious to one that is watching the video (and hence i phrased it in the way that it is "something cool (i) noticed" instead of being condescending and expecting so much from other people online especially on a social media website such as youtube :) )

      We used to do exercises like this in art class in grade school and high school where I went to school. It’s similar to copying a picture by putting a transparent graph over it and drawing it on graph paper. It forces your eye to stop interpreting what you’re seeing and draw what you’re actually seeing. Instead of drawaing “an eye” because you’re looking at an eye on a face, you draw what each specific part of the eye actually looks like vs. an interpreted and recreated version of it that isn’t what’s really there. If you want to draw a forest accurately, stop seeing a forest first.

    Theres actually artists have done this with 3 or 4 pens, trick is dont allign them horizontally, instead attach them in cross '+' position.. that way u got all 4 papers very close to you, left right up & below, and u hold the cross stick in the middle and can tilt all 4 pens very easily.. hope this help with ur next challenge 😊

      It's still kinda impossible. It weighs too much and even with 2 pens he was alternating the pages the pens touch. He'd have to get a solid metal support mechanism that moves in 2d plane and one button (hydrolic or like piano keys or maybe actuators) for each pen to be pushed down. Also, maybe a screen in front that can switch between the cameras on each sheet with top down view.

    You should make the rig curved, so that only one pen touches a page at any given time. That way you won't have two or more pens "copying" unwanted movements. If you think about the 2 pen rig, only one pen is drawing at any given time.
    You could even put it on a pulley system, that way you can walk up and down the length without dropping it.

    i think the reason behind why the "printed" side looks "better" is the fact that with that method you were allowed to just naturally go darker in the shading thus creating contrast with the highlights as apposed to the natural drawing you didnt go dark enough for the contrast to let the eye view its perceived depth, which is such a massively common issue that i personally try and teach it to my underlings (its actually a very powerful painting tech where you force contrast to areas to grab attention for the comp)
    it just shows that dP has a very good understanding of how value can give more to a drawing not just getting the "detail"
    if anyone is wondering some weird things master artists did, look up lost and found edges and then view some very beautiful portraits and youll find those lost and found edges are massively key to how some portraits of eras were achieved
    after all, any realistic style of art is to give the illusion of depth and believability 👍

    • @Thedarkbunnyrabbit
      @Thedarkbunnyrabbit 2 года назад +22

      It's also because it was the second time drawing the image, it'll just naturally be better the second time you draw something compared to the first.

    Actually, you could technically draw with 21 pens at once by alternating just the way you do it with 2. But you would have to slightly bend the straight wooden support you've built so that you can chose which one is currently touching the paper. Exactly like how a violin bow (straight) can play on one or multiple strings at once (curved). Except the bow is the paper and the strings are the pens (kinda revered lol).
    Also would be a challenge for your muscles et eyes I guess

    Hey Jazza, I just wanted to say congratulations. Your channel has gone through a few shifts and they all had their good points, but the during the last few videos I really felt like you've hit the mark between silly and goofy and artistic and exciting. I've been watching for years now and for me this really feels like the magic of the chaotic drawings based on live votes, ported into your new video style. You're doing great, and I hope that everything keeps going well for you. Who would have thought that smalltime sexy bear artist would be running a whole production crew, you've come so far.

    I think it could be interesting with simple designs and big marker pens (big lines, like a chunky graffiti).
    Also, drawing 2 things at the same time looks like it could work as a fun warm up, makes u feel the lines instead of thinking too much about what u are doing. It was fun to watch.

    Honestly, with the two pens it just feels like a bad DIY life hack from certain channels. If you need to first draw a line on one paper with the first pen, then switch to the second pen and second paper, it would just be much easier to hold one pen and jump from one paper to the other to draw two things 'at once' line by line.
    But the idea of drawing multiple times the same thing interests me, if for nothing else but figuring out the puzzle of how to perfect the contraption so that it actually works well.

    You could attach springs to the pens so that when you compress the 21-pen holder, the springs will help apply even pressure over an uneven surface. You’d have to have enough tension in the springs so the pens aren’t just grazing the surface.

    When I saw this I actually thought you were going to draw the same image on 21 papers at the same time with that contraption. It would actually be nice if you try to draw the same image on not up to 21 papers though. But just to see if each of the drawings would look the same like a perfect duplication.

      @@philippdrescher6012 Yes. But I meant 2 or 3 papers with d same image, but this time to see how very identical it would be as to the 2 papers with 2 different images which is the normal trend. The challenge he did at the end of the video was how many can he draw at once while I am proposing a challenge of how identical would the drawing be if drawn at the same time.

    You have just reinvented the pantograph ! ! With the wider width of a multi-pen holder, you need some parallel support rails running from top to bottom of your drawing field to prevent the cross bar from sagging under it's own weight. Construction workers will lay down slender depth bars to gauge the thickness of fill or cement laid down. Then after screeding the top flat, with the crossbar, the gauges are slid out. You might need something to evenly advance the crossbar from top to bottom also. Consider placing yourself at one end of the pen bar, with supportsat each end. Then move the bar back and forth to draw sideways.

    I’ve drawn realism “as a printer” since I was young!
    People conceptualize faces, noses triangle, eyes round.
    When you draw like a “printer” you’ll draw what’s actually in front of you and not force certain shapes
    Read: Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain
    Awesome book!
