    The Diamond Eco mini in white and rose gold is the pen I am yearning for most at the moment! Thank you for making such a thorough video and demonstration. I am very much a neophyte in the realm of fountain pens. I own a whopping two fountain pens thus far and am hoping that I possess the self-control to cultivate a relatively modest collection down the line. Of all the welcome distractions in my life during this period of grief and mourning since my Mother died, a newfound fascination with fountain pens has taken me most by surprise. I will certain be subscribing. ✒

    Been waiting for my white/rose gold diamond mini now for almost a month, can’t wait 😬 The TWSBI diamond mini and mini vac 700r’s in 1.1 bold nibs slinging Noodler’s Eternal Darkness ink are my daily carries and I love them to death!

    Love the 580 smoke with rose gold. I used to have a mini in white rose gold but the section constantly stained for me, so I won't be falling into the trap of the white rose gold anymore 😅

    My Twsbis are my go-to workhorse utility pens. I enjoy writing with them, they are reliable, and they aren’t too expensive. I like that little rose gold mini, I think you picked the perfect ink for it. Thanks for the video, I always enjoy them.

    This was my latest acquisition, too. I have the version 1 rose gold in EF and I was not going to get this one but I like the fact that the new one has a rose gold piston head on view. Then one day the little devil voice in my head said “why don’t you get it with the 1.1 stub”, so I did. I inked it with Lamy Crystal Amazonite, my first teal ink.

    Just in case you don't know... Regarding that nib that felt "sharp", the tines may have been out of alignment. A jeweler's loupe is essential, if you mess with fountain pens. Use it to check that the tines are in alignment at the tip, and use your fingernail to lift the lower tine a bit if they aren't. Also, once the tines are in perfect alignment, you can use a sheet of Mylar to smooth it just a bit. Goulet has the Mylar sheets, and videos abound on how to align and polish tines - just don't get too carried away, as you can destroy a nib. Practicing on cheap nibs is a good idea.

    I’m scared to fill my new mini because I don’t want to stain the white portions. Have you had any problems?

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  3 года назад +5

      Funny enough--I have had no problem with ink staining (it comes right off the white), but I have had one of my galen crazy horse brown pen cases discolor it a little bit (there is a line of orange where it was sitting in the elastic. But like I said, no trouble with ink and I'm using a pretty saturated orange in it.

    I have the Diamond Mini in Ef. Starts ok, but after a few minutes, it writes very dry. I’m going to switch to a more lubricated ink and see if that helps.

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  3 года назад +2

      Wetter ink sounds like a good place to start. You can occasionally just get a bad nib too. If it continues to cause you trouble, I would reach out to TWSBI and see if they can replace your nib--they are very easy to swap out on the Diamond Mini.

    I only have the Roségold 580 and think it writes even better than other Twsbi 580s. Maybe the Roségold coating.... is the mini version as fantastic?

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  3 года назад +3

      I think so-the nib is similar to the large 580, just slightly smaller.

    What's the difference between all the different Twsbi Minis please? The Diamond vs the Vac? Also are they the only options...

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  2 года назад +1

      The diamond mini is a piston fill pen whereas the vac has a vac fill mechanism. Jet Pens has a really good breakdown of different filling mechanisms here: www.jetpens.com/blog/Fountain-Pen-Filling-Systems-Explained/pt/912. As far as I know, these are the only two mini options for TWSBI. The vac is a little bigger than the diamond.

    I love this pen size, I'm really Sailor PG Slim and Pelikan m200/400 kinda gal. I also find the Mini to be my fav model out of the TWSBI range, it just fits my had perfectly (580 can be unwieldy). When I saw the RG version available, I had to jump on it. It arrived promptly but I just didn't like the fine nib on it. In comparison to my 580 fine it was just not up to the standard I'm used to. I sent it back to the retailer and I hope I will get it back sorted soon.

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  3 года назад +3

      That’s interesting. At least one other person has commented about having issues with their finer nibs on this model.

    • @laitae
      @laitae 3 года назад +1

      @@MysteryArts finer nibs are usually more finicky in general. Perhaps something to do with the rose gold coating?

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  3 года назад +3

      @@laitae That would make sense. I've heard that nib grinders have been having trouble with the rose gold coating if you get the nib customized.

    Who sells the ink vent calendar?

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  3 года назад +4

      I think so far it was only for Christmas 2019 from Diamine-they didn’t put one out in 2020. I got mine at Goulet a few months before Christmas 2019 and it sold out fast. However, you can get most, if not all, of the inks that were included in the inkvent calendar as part of Diamine’s blue series of inks. I wish they would do the calendar again, but I expect that it is hard to come out with so many new inks each year.
