    You. I thought I was going to have to try to return my torch without a receipt. I was able to find out that I probably overfilled my torch because of the way you described the sputtering. I just held down the trigger without clicking it to let out all the extra air. Took me about 20 to 30 seconds of just holding it without clicking. Seems to be fine now. Thank you!!!!

    I OWNED a cigar lounge and had never heard of "overfilling" a torch but I just revived 3 lighters from my dead drawer by bleeding and refilling for just 2-3 secs. lol It now just makes perfect sense for those small palm-sized single flames with obviously small tanks but I just always bled and refilled for 12-14 secs regardless of size (which worked for most of my customers but there was that 25% that I now wonder if overfilling was the problem). Thanks for the tip.

    • @shandon360
      @shandon360 Год назад +2

      Overfilling is not the problem. Bleeding a torch means to try to let out any air trapped inside that is not butane. I can literally fill up any torch with only one tiny bubble visible in side the tank. This guy doesnt know whats he is talking about most of the time

    This was very helpful. I guess going from a big torch to a small torch I didn’t think about overfilling. The clicking and adjusting the heat helps. Also messing with the screws a little helped initially but didn’t last. It was just a 5$ one picked up at the Hindu BP station but I want a new one. The one I had before was great. And lasted me 9 months before my silly boyfriend broke it. Ugh. lol

  • @metal422life

    Before every refill you should take your lighter the opposite way of filling it so the butane filling part of the lighter is facing towards the ground and then you want to depress that make sure everything comes out of it. Shake It Up and then depress it again. Until you hear no more hiss coming out. Turn the lighter over give it 3 seconds of butane you shouldn't hear the can stop. Now take the lighter and spin it slowly in your hand so that the butane filling nozzle goes to the floor to the ceiling to the floor to the ceiling and that fashion now I get something small again to depress it I recommend the adapter nozzles that come with a butane can. And with the filling point facing upwards depress it a little bit of butane will come out and then you'll just cure air slowly rock it back and forth like you're stirring and you will hear when the air bubble comes out of it. Once you get that air bubble out press the butane can onto it fast and as soon as you hear the butane start to slow that's when you pull off. If the torch does not act right after that it needs one more burping you need to get a big air bubble out. The reason why you want to completely get rid of all the excess butane left over before refill is because it's no longer butane that is left in there it's all impurities. This is why you could see fluid in there but it wasn't igniting that's because it wasn't actual butane it's all impurities. Those impurities clog up your torch tip and then you start getting a torch that starts to behave like a lighter almost. So cleaning out all the excess impurities within the tank will keep your torch working longer and also between every filling you want to take a can of air and you want to blast it at about a 30° angle about 4 inches away from the tip and you only need to give it a second to 2 seconds but you don't want to ever spray directly straight on to the tip because then you'll just cause any clogging potential to get clogged in there even further not good.

      you can adjust the gas flame pressure through the refill valve on the bottom using a flat head screwdriver to give make the jet flame go higher or lower

  • @ARCSTREAMS
    @ARCSTREAMS Год назад

    was told you should also lower the flame or gas adjuster all the way down before refilling, not sure why perhaps like you said to keep pressure off the parts that way the pressure is only applying to the tank and not going through the other parts like the gas line and diffuser etc i think if you got a lever adjuster its better to still adjust from the fill port valve because that closes all the way and your lever is just a final fine adjustment

    i was gifted(probably used) an asg pocket torch back in 2000 by a cousin and loved the thing but had problems with it afterwards with bad flow of gas where the flame was no longer sharp but coming out weak like a blue soft flame or a regular lighter and i think i fixed that because may have either been a debris issue in the line or the line from the tank to the nozzle was not properly connected so after taking it apart and putting together the flow is working the other problem is the spark was off time so it was sparking before the gas was flowing and after removing this rubber spacer under the piezoelectric it seem to be ok but then it was sparking in other places on the line and no longer between the tip of the wire and the flame nozzle, tried adding a return wire from the bottom of the nozzle to the bottom of the cylindrical metal part on the piezo but could not fit it all in the case properly, i got another piezo but it's wire is too short so im still gonna try to get it fixed but i don't understand how this works if there is no ground return how come it still sparks on the brass flame nozzle how does this work when in proper condition? i know its like 3k volts but still dont get how the spark jumps from wire tip onto nozzle

Another question when burping/bleeding will all the butane come out too or just air?

    Hey there, great tutorial. You’re really nice to look at,too. Is this where I can leave a question, I guess we’ll see. I have this beautiful torch lighter, I’ve had it for at least 10 years but before I throw it away I was hoping you could tell me why it’s not clicking, then lighting. So it’s definitely got fuel, and I hear it coming out when I press down on the part that usually makes the clicking sound, but now there’s no click just the sound of butane escaping. Can you help me save this sentimental relic?
    Thank You,
    ~Elizabeth

    Dude you only troubleshooted one thing. What about when it stops sparking. I will look and see if you love fixing that issue too. Great video, very informative and clearly spoken. You’re obviously very intelligent. If you or anybody out there has any advice it is mucho apreciado.

      he said overfilling it with butane will cause it to stop sparking because the force of the overfilled butane is stronger than the igniter spark.
