This is the kind of stuff that brings a lot of depth to the star wars universe. Culture, the history and in-depth personality of background characters. Stories that don't need to be told, but add so much when they are just by existing. This is the sort of thing that was lost with the creation of the new cannon, and will take a long time to rebuild if it even can match through purposeful construction what existed before in a largely organic sense.
I consider Legends to be canon and Disney to be garbage
@@anon9579 Both have good and bad in them. I love a lot of Canon stuff, but I do admit there are some good things in Legends that do deserve to be canonised.

The Jedi are just so stupid sometimes. The whole “disconnect from emotion” thing is just bound to make more Sith instead. What they should do instead of total emotional neglect they should foster the act of feeling, but teach others to control them. Also if you wanna grow your order why not have your members breed. It’ll add people and make them stronger in the long run.
That's essentially what Luke did for his New Jedi Order in Legends.

Basically they become grey Jedi, not part of council but more wise about the outside realm. That was the issue with the order, too reclusive, few even heard of them
joshua sitzema No such thing as a grey Jedi. Either youre a Jedi or not. Edit: the reason I say this because to be a Jedi is to follow the Jedi code. You can't call yourself a Jedi if you're not acting like one. Ki Adi Mundi is a special case, but he's still a Jedi in every way but one, having sex and reproducing. Mace Windu used light side and dark side abilities but that didn't make him a grey Jedi because he still followed the Jedi code. Thats like sayong youre a Light Sith. It just doesnt make sense. If you're not a Jedi, then you're not a Jedi, you're just a force sensitive who doesn't want to follow rules. And in reality, that would probably lead to the dark side anyway, running around usong the force however you wish without restrictions. Eventually that would lead down the path to darkness.
Wxtch Bxtch Tell that to Qui-Gon Jinn, Ahoska, and Ezra. Well, I guess last two wouldn't count as Jedi because Ahoska left the Jedi Order and Ezra wasn't even a Jedi to begin with. Even if they're not Jedi, they still maintain balance with the Force.
Voice of Reason Ahsoka may have left the order but everything she did was in a Jedi way, so I don't see her as a "grey Jedi". She never attacked anyone that wasn't armed or married and had kids or used her Force powers for self gain. And if Ezra was mentored by a Jedi, that makes him a Jedi Padawan, plain and simple. As for Quigon, hes a Jedi to me too, just becaude he disagreed on some things with other Jedi doesnt mean he was something different, he still lived and acted like a Jedi.
I get frustrated with the new fan narrative that Mundi was a hypocrite and a sociopath because he was allowed to do everything Anakin wasn't. Mundi is a clear cut example of the man Anakin could have been if he had actually learned self-control. If anything, Mundi was the best example of why the Jedi were wrong to deny attachments. Mundi is the kind of character Luke should have been like in The Last Jedi.
Damn. He lost his entire family and still had the will to move onward. If only Anakin had done this instead of going down the path of self-destruction and hate.

This is why the Jedi will always fail. They don't take into account the inability to adhere to their needlessly strict rules about attachments and love. They fail to realize that these things inspire people to do great things much more than horrible things. This guy's a husband and the father of several children, and he's still one of the greatest Jedi masters in the order, even through the loss of that family! He wasn't evil, he wasn't corrupted!
Agreed. The jedi are right on many things, such as the fact that it is easy to be tempted and that the dark side don't don anyone any good, but they got to puritanical about everything and then had it enforced on force users they knew of. I don't deny that avoiding attachments has it's benefits in terms of making unbiased decisions and related duties, but that should be the job of a smaller group who willingly accept it because they feel called to that kind of lifestyle by the force, not unlike a monk who takes vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience willingly in order to better serve God and his community. All other members of the Jedi could have relationships. It could have worked, but I guess they just didn't think of it.
Daniel Charland AlL the Jedi agree to the Jedi code when they become Jedi. No one is forced to follow their rules, anyone can leave whenever they want and live their lives however they want. But their laws are.there bc they KNOW what leads to.the dark.side. And what to avoid. You dont know better than Yoda or Mace Windu.
Wxtch Bxtch You have to remember though, most of them are brought into the order as children, not fully understanding what it is they'll be doing, no idea of the guiding principles for the order. As they grow up, they won't know about those feelings and temptations until they experience them, and then instinct takes over. The Jedi teach you to ignore that instinct with very little effort to tell them how or why.
Jonathan Parker Actually the Jedi explain all of their teachings. I dont know where you heard they dont explain everything to their students. Even Qui Gon told Anakin straight away, "The life of a Jedi is hard." Nothing is hidden or unexplained in the Order, and if the Padawans grow up and dont like the rules, they can always leave.
