Check out the new Toyota Landcruiser MN-45 www.banggood.com/custlink/DvGGYu5vqa - I preordered 2, a kit and a RTR. I wanna make it similar to my MN-90, but even better with metal gearbox and front 370 motor. Will take a while - I will probably post some videos.
Very nice detailed guide. I wonder if that solve the bump steering (one side push up when making steering left/right)? And will this upgrade improve steering angle better (wider)?
Bumpsteering ... no. Meanwhile univesal steering and metal axle housings have been released - universal joints highly improve the steering angle. You will find the links in this thread on RCGroups: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=43226069&postcount=26
Hi. My MN99 arrived last week. Very pleased. I'm thinking of upgrading the axle housings and drive shafts to full metal. Do you have any recommendations on parts or links on Banggood for MN99 compatible metal axle housings and drive shafts please? Thanks.
Hi. Of course ;-) This upgrade set is bang for the buck, universal steering, very good quality (I do have it), highly recommended: www.banggood.com/custlink/vvKm4gqad7 This kit www.banggood.com/custlink/mvmDyb0AOQ does come with driveshafts, but it comes with the "old" dogbone-style steering. Universal steering is much, much better, so I would not buy it anymore (I did buy it before universal steering was released). Metal axle housings are ok: www.banggood.com/custlink/Gm3GHleBU3 - check my video ruclips.net/video/Dk27TTyFkoQ/видео.html . Maybe you'll have to remove some paint. Beware, MN90/45/96/99 axles are a little bit wider than "normal" WPL axles. Driveshafts: There are a lot... two different "types" - those are ok and cheap now: www.banggood.com/custlink/DmvD9pptq6 - but most (nearly all) metal driveshafts will work... some of the other "type" that are ok (for me): www.banggood.com/custlink/GDvKyze9JS - those are supercheap and black www.banggood.com/custlink/KK3DEz4Zpp but are a kind of false construction, because the cardan joints are not in phase; however, even those work (I do have them), ... check www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=43221615&postcount=11 for more drive shaft options.
I bought a servo on Banggood. It has 4.8v to 6v output. Metal gear. The battery that comes with the ESC kit by WPL is a 7.4v Lipo battery - are these compatible with one another or not? Will it burn the circuit board and servo?
Do not worry, this will work. The servo will only receive 5 - 6 Volt from receiver (which receives it from speedcontroller) or receiver/speedcontroller unit (do not know which electronic components you have). No problem all, meant exactly this way.
@@tylertinsley9463 Guess, you could use any, that fit. Those O-rings in the video are (OD/ID) 6/2 mm and rather soft. Will see, how long they will hold up.
Always a little bit of adjusting necessary, but honestly cannot remember anymore how much I had to do, it is more than 1 1/2 years since then. However, no problem... workes fine.
Cut the driver seat to make it lower, and cut legs (if necessary, do not remember exactly, long time ago). Fix with double sided "transparent tape" or E7000 glue.
Hello from southeast alaska I'm upgrading my mn99s Maxi Trac 370 motor and metal gears Esc and receiver and transmitter and metal drive shaft
This video addresses an important issue of bad steering with the wpl/MN models.I was waiting for someone to talk about it. Thank you!
Nicely done - I love the O ring solution too - thanks for this :-)
That's a great looking truck.😎 👍
Thank you. It ist a cheap 40 bucks toy truck, see the video of the "making of": ruclips.net/video/xNotYx-EivU/видео.html
Good stuff brother
You are a true engineer! Well done sir :)

the new tires that measure are or the link to buy them greetings and good video
Link is in description
the teeth of servo shaft is called spline :)
Thanks. And what is the "whole thing"? Crown? I guess it is "Zahnkranz" in my language.

Great video! Do you remember what you cut the axles to? Or what you used as reference? Also, what o rings did you use?
Thanks
8.8 cm (see picture with ruler in the video), but better make them 1 - 2 mm longer, you can shorten them by sanding anytime.
donaldsneffe awesome thank you! I remember you saying you had to to shorten even more. What size o rings did you use as well?

did you have to cut rear axle to fit?
Always a little bit of adjusting necessary, but honestly cannot remember anymore how much I had to do, it is more than 1 1/2 years since then. However, no problem... workes fine.
do you have info on how to have the mod for your guy steering?
I showed it - removed the joints and use rubber band.
how did you do to put figures in the defender?
Cut the driver seat to make it lower, and cut legs (if necessary, do not remember exactly, long time ago). Fix with double sided "transparent tape" or E7000 glue.
Did this upgrade give you proportional steering?
Yes... but stock setup does also have proportional steering. This servo is much stronger.
