What a fascinating video! I enjoyed every second. It´s interesting to see exactly how you go about transforming these models. It seems very short-sighted to dismiss them out of hand when with a little thought and a tiny expenditure they can become so capable.
Thanks Del, I had a 'How to' video on my schedule for a while, and finally had the time to make one last week. These little things can do all sorts if you have the time, lots of 'no spend' mods as well. 'Hobby Daddy' has a nice selection of videos of free upgrades you can do for these. 👍
I don't care about the lights but some folks might. This process would toss the ICs that control the lights. I was looking for a schematic so I could hack into it but this way probably easier and then add my own board for my own purposes. For my purposes, I used a hot knife to cut the seats and dash out . A straight cut right behind the seats did the job so now I have a lot more room inside for a big ass battery and other gear. This vid really helped me out - I was on a wrong path.

I just ordered mine. Thanks for the videos... I know some have bashed this car as not being "hobby quality" but I really like this design. Has plenty of choices for upgrades. I've seen the expensive $500 1:10 scale Traxxas but I like this one better.

This was such a great video. Please do more wrenching vids cause your camera views and narration are super clear. Most workbench videos I'm struggling to see what people are doing. Is the Fayee gearbox as low geared as the the B36? I have been wanting a RC4WD 1/18 Gelande. Cheers Ian, I will certainly look at a few more videos. The Fayee Gearbox/Motor is not a low geared unfortunately, but you can't buy the B36 combo separately from what I've seen.
@@TomleyRC OK, Thanks for the reply! I'll look forward to your C34 review. Maybe that'll be good out of the box. But I prefer the D90 body as I have a Series 2a in the garage.

In your video here you replace the ESC with your Transmitter/receiver. Do I need to purchase an ESC as well? Or can I get the DumboRC X6 to work with the existing MN-99s ESC? Cheers, you make amazing videos!
Brilliant video - I plan on buying the same truck and all the parts in the links - your video was so inspirational - can't wait to build this truck - do you know what I need to look for in terms of the piece you used to screw the servo in place? Thanks again - your video is very well shot and clearly detailed - thanks again!
Quick question , I put a 260 moter and gear box in my B-16 , works great , but , my friend has a new B-14 with 130 moter and his truck is much faster and more power to the wheels , we put in a new receiver and ESC ,(ax5s) I seem to have less power than his , just wondering what or if I did something wrong or , thanks for your help Jay 😄
The 130's aren't that good from my experience. Is it not a 180 he has? They has some good speed and power sometimes. Not sure why yours is not performing

Are the current mn99s like this with a 130 motor and non-proportional steering?
Great vid! I see you use the same 30a esc as i do... Any help on getting the lights working? DumboRC 6ch, 2s 2800mah, 260 motor. Hope you can help me out....
I’ve not looked at the MN99 servo properly, but at a guess it will be a 5 wire one. And this one is a 3 wire. So won’t be compatible.... but I may be wrong, it may be a 3 wire on the MN99
I have just got my mn99s which I enjoy driving. Will the wpl parts fit the mn99s model as I want to put oil shocks, full metal axles, push rods and hopefully a 2 speed gearbox or a motor with a low speed reduction on it
My MN99 arrived last week. Very nice. I'm thinking of upgrading the axle housings and drive shafts to full metal. Are WPL drive shafts compatible? Or do you have links to MN99 compatible axle housings and drive shafts on Banggood? Btw, finally got my B24 fully upgraded and working yesterday. I bought a green B24 RTR on Amazon cheap and it's got a very responsive, very quiet non proportional steering and servo. Luck of the draw or they've improved things. Runs like a bat out of hell and I haven't even upgraded anything yet...
When you install a proportional circuit board, do you have to swop over the existing wires and on off switch with the ones that come with a proportional circuit board as well from the vehicle or can you simply plug in the existing wires to the new ESC? Is the ESC you showed compatible with a WPL B24 and it's proportional steering hand held controller? It would have been good if you showed HOW to connect the wiring into the ESC plugs - which coloured wire corresponds with others etc to prevent mistakes and burnt boards like what has happened to me recently....
People say this car Is junk....i never had a RC toy, So at 26 i decided to buy my first car. I only use it indoors or on garden And i could not be more happy. I dont understand electronics or dont want to spend a lot of money on upgrades, but i bought a cheap bigger battery from China, made a hole inside si the battery can fit in boot...I am trying to say that this car Is enough for me, i dont need 600$ Models
@@TomleyRC if i decide to change the servo, would i have to change the electronics and go with a similar esc like the one youve linked? And if i do so will i have to change the transmitter? (Sorry for so many Q's, looking to get one of these and fix it up, im new to the hobby too👍)
Hello. I've got an Mn 99 great rc but would like to make it a little bit faster but too much. Without messing about with it too much, what you you recommend doing please? Could I change the gearbox?
Hello, my MN99 faults have all been rectified. Still all metal housings/gears/axles. Quick question, how do you fit a metal rear bumper? Do you have to drill through the body to attach one ? Front metal bumpers are easy to fit. Also, bumper guards that fit underneath the front - how do they fit on? Any tutorials online?
Just bought one of these as my first RC and already blew the front diff, the gears are shredded in it, what do I do? Is there axels that you can swap on these? Thanks

In your video here you replace the ESC with your Transmitter/receiver. Do I need to purchase an ESC as well? Or can I get the DumboRC X6 to work with the existing MN-99s ESC?
Cheers, you make amazing videos!
You'll need a new ESC as well. These have a combined ESC/Receiver... so you can't attach it to your Dumbo one
Brilliant video - I plan on buying the same truck and all the parts in the links - your video was so inspirational - can't wait to build this truck - do you know what I need to look for in terms of the piece you used to screw the servo in place? Thanks again - your video is very well shot and clearly detailed - thanks again!
Dan, if you would like the easier option. The MN99s is ready to go out the box! ruclips.net/video/sDJaKez_tTA/видео.html
This is a great video 👍👍☺️
Really good those are the same electronics that I have in my wpl c24
Thanks for info! Can use 2 speed motor?
Yes, 2 speed will fit
Just got a mn90.. First crawler think iys bloody good for what I paid.. Will this wfl stuff fit mine?? Gonna gonfor wpl 260 motor but unsure of whay else to do
you have video upgrade your remote RC with radiolink RC4gs sir ???
Awesome video!
Cheers dude
Good evening.
A question please, I have a land rover D90 RC, could I put a 7.4V 1310 mA battery in it, this to play for a longer time, without damaging it ?.
Thank you I stay tuned
Are the current mn99s like this with a 130 motor and non-proportional steering?
I bought an mn99s fully proportional not too long ago and I've already put about £150 into it. Not including original price 😂😂
Great vid! I see you use the same 30a esc as i do... Any help on getting the lights working? DumboRC 6ch, 2s 2800mah, 260 motor. Hope you can help me out....
I e ordered the same servo as shown in this video for my new mn99 defender will it work by just keeping the rest stock just getting into rc
Basically do I need to do everything in this vid to sport the new servo
I’ve not looked at the MN99 servo properly, but at a guess it will be a 5 wire one. And this one is a 3 wire. So won’t be compatible.... but I may be wrong, it may be a 3 wire on the MN99
Tomley RC Garage ok thanks for the help
Do you need to upgrade the esc with the servo or can you just do the servo upgrade
I have just got my mn99s which I enjoy driving. Will the wpl parts fit the mn99s model as I want to put oil shocks, full metal axles, push rods and hopefully a 2 speed gearbox or a motor with a low speed reduction on it
Most if not all WPL stuff will fit
@@TomleyRC ah great. Means I can order some parts for my rig now.
So cool 👍
Great video! Thanks!
It is a bonnet mate 😉
haha..yeah it certainly is :)
Nice boy love from sri Lanka
Can you up grade the mn45 i think that they will loock cool next to each other on the trail
Do have any link or do have the details of all the part u did used for the upgrade so i can easy find it on the markets online? 👍🏻😊
Links for the products are in the video description
People say this car Is junk....i never had a RC toy, So at 26 i decided to buy my first car. I only use it indoors or on garden And i could not be more happy. I dont understand electronics or dont want to spend a lot of money on upgrades, but i bought a cheap bigger battery from China, made a hole inside si the battery can fit in boot...I am trying to say that this car Is enough for me, i dont need 600$ Models
Could you still use the old electronics if you upgrade the servo and motor?
motor yes, servo no as the original is a non-proportional motor type 👍
@@TomleyRC if i decide to change the servo, would i have to change the electronics and go with a similar esc like the one youve linked? And if i do so will i have to change the transmitter? (Sorry for so many Q's, looking to get one of these and fix it up, im new to the hobby too👍)
Hi, I jusy bought an MND90 and I seem to havr damahed the ESC. What ESzc do ypu recommend, and what other upgrade I needcto add. Thanks.
Hello. I've got an Mn 99 great rc but would like to make it a little bit faster but too much. Without messing about with it too much, what you you recommend doing please? Could I change the gearbox?
I think the MN99 comes with a 260 size motor... not sure what other motors are out there that will give you a bit more speed.
Do you really need to upgrade the esc everytime you upgrade the motor?
No
Reason I asked is, I just picked an MN 99s and was planning on upgrading to a 370 motor
Thanks

@@TomleyRC cheers pal, we'll see how I get on with it within the next 7-30 working days hahaha
buy cheap rc, and make it improved and powerfull is an art, also far more fun imo XD, im planning to buy this rc and upgrade it
It's good fun to do
Stop driving these cheap things - Now I should order one, because it lures me all day in rc videos. hehe.
😎👌
It is nice that there are all kinds of replacement and upgrade parts for these. And how to videos. Could last a really long time.
