CE is one of the few Gundam timelines that actually developed and flesh out fightercraft and even more so than UC. Whereas the Earth Federation completely phased out their jet fighters as soon as the GMs were mass produced, the Earth Alliance still kept them around and upgraded them to complement the Dagger mobile suits.
Except Saberfish are still around too in Unicorn. Similarly, there's the G-Defenser in Zeta which is more or less Sky Grasper's UC counterpart, as acknowledged in GBF with the Build Mark II. And that's before we add non-animated works, like Raven Sword and all of G-Fighter variations from MSV-R, Hrududu and Primerose from AoZ, or Wyvern and Daggerfish from Sentinel. So no, "more so than UC" statement is fault.
"Saberfish that was treated like rusting clown and G-Defenser that never got mass produced." The same can be said to Sky Grasper. If we're stick to animate works only, EA stop developing new jet after Strike Dagger roll out (the only one Sky Grasper appears in Destiny is kept by Orb, presume to be the remaning craft on the Archangel). We only see more Sky Graspers, as well as Cosmo Grasper, in MSV and Astray, and they're all developed during the first war. UC at least has the G-Defenser rolled out in Gryps War, and even more fighters appear in side stories mentioned in the previous comment. So objectively, CE "flesh out fightercraft even more so than UC" is just fault no matter how one look at it.
@@KuruniXD UC is longer running than CE, of course it would have more examples, but if you're counting the G-Defenser which is more of an addon for the Gundam MK II then the Core Splendor and Silhouette Flyer for the Impulse Gundam also counts, even if it's not made or used by the Earth Alliance. If you're going to throw in side stories like AoZ then the Raijin Striker and Maneuver Striker in Gundam Seed Eclipse count too, even if they appear between Seed and Seed Destiny. Both timelines use jets past their first wars, so let's not split hairs over who used more jets.
@@armydude102 Again, my point is that "CE flesh out fighter better" is just fault. I don't even say UC doing good job, because I think it's still pretty bad, but saying CE doing better is fault I didn't count Core Splendor on the ground that it's a part of Impulse, it would be analog to UC's Neo Core Fighter and V/V2 Core Fighter. I brought up G-Defenser because, as noted, it's more or less acknowledged as Sky Grasper's counterpart. Just like Sky Grasper, we only saw it as supporter of one MS in anime (Strike for Sky Grasper, MkII for G-Defenser), but we also saw other MS used its cargo without the fighter itself in later works (not counting side stories, Striker Packs are used by Dagger and Windam, Defenser Units are used by ReZEL).
I still remember when the series came out I was in the Air Force in maintenance. One of my buddies got a Gunpla kit of the Skygrasper, and unsurprisingly, after a few beers we started to wonder how it would fly. Talked to another buddy who was in college for aeronautical engineering, and got to work. We spent probably a full weekend, and several six packs, trying to work out the aerodynamics, weight and balance, etc... Yeah, the numbers weren't good. You're right that the roll rate would be insane. But the drag and balance of the thing was so far out of whack that it would be practically useless. IIRC, the CG was almost in the tail and at the top of the fuselage. After that, we just assumed that the only reason it was good in the show is Mu is that much of a badass and taught everyone else how to fly it.
May I ask how would u of redid the design to make it actually plausible to fly? I mean just the plane itself with its weapons it came with and just ignore the support stuff for the Strike Gundam
You could assume that, just like Zeon's Dop Fighter and the Byarlant, the Skygrasper might have relied a bit more on the brute strength of its thrusters to fly and maneuver

Ya'know, as much as the Alliance is just the absolute worst... I agree with the "we don't need those Coordinator Mobile Suit thingies"-faction here. I suspect it's not just that most pilots are either MS pilots or new large MA became the norm. delivering a striker pack became unnecessary when EA battery tech caught up to Orb/Zaft. the jet striker pack carries missiles while allowing full atmospheric flight. that meant the batteries in the pack and the MS(Dagger-L/windam) was considerably better.
I think the Skygrasper would be too heavy to fly if it's carrying all three Striker pack like how the Strike is too heavy to fly with all three even with the Aile Striker pack. The IWSP I say the Skygrasper can still fly and become quite deadly. The only Striker pack I can think off that would be useless on the Skygrasper would be the Multi Striker Pack as even with the N-Jammers removed having a Striker pack that can only be used once is kind of bad. Also the Gunbarrel Striker pack can be equipped on to the Skygrasper, but I really see no point on doing that when it can already function as a mobile armor. The Doppelhorn Striker pack can work plus being recoilless cannon the Skygrasper can shoot and fly with no trouble at all.
There was Super Robot Wars W, a game for the NDS where you can equip the Skygrasper with the IWSP pack. However, considering that it is SRW, the developers can just handwave it away and make certain things just work.
The only way I can see the IWSP & MAS packs being used without any Strike variants is if there was a Cosmic Era equivalent to the Universal Century's G-Armor and only in space with (at least) minimal problems, but alas it never came about; we already know the latter was piss-poor while under gravity.
There are backpacks capable of independent(though not manned) operation in Destiny side stories. The Destiny Impulse R has a backpack with AI that can detach from the MS, as do a few others I forgot the name of.

Meta wise: Sky Grasper has its root in Fukuda's previous mecha work, Gear Fighter Dendoh. One of the support craft exist to literally deliver replacement battery because Dendoh is a battery-powered Super Robot.

In Super Robot Wars W for the DS, you can equip the Skygrasper with the IWSP pack, provided that you unlock it first since both the IWSP and Lightning pack are secrets in the game. You only get the Launcher, Sword, and two Aile striker pack by default. You also have two Skygrasper as well.

I mean Bandai could make themselves a Gundam Macross fighter jets transformers if they really wanted to. It's upto Bandai decision and efforts making though to make that happened.
Equivalent to Core Fighter in UC timeline.
more like the G Fighter or the Core Booster
DRRRIIIIIIVEWAY TO THE SAFETY AREAAAA!
Meta wise: Sky Grasper has its root in Fukuda's previous mecha work, Gear Fighter Dendoh. One of the support craft exist to literally deliver replacement battery because Dendoh is a battery-powered Super Robot.
Skygrasper has no defense against Shield Tossing.
Maybe Sword Striker grappling hook could help to stopped it but requires skilled pilot to do it
Take two.
what happen with previous vid one?
An unused clip snuck into the outro.
The Skygrasper can use the IWSP pack in Super Robot Wars J, at least.
Yeah its the age of mecha musume. Chinese companies are getting in on the action with top tier quality works from MS General, Eastern Model, Snail Shell, Nuke Matrix. I spend more on them than anything else hehe.
Would a hypothetical Cosmograsper + Gunbarrel Striker combo work?
Then again, that would basically just be the Moebius Zero with extra complications.
How about the development of the Crossbone Gundams? Considering the rumor of an anime
I don't think the IWSP would be fully mountable on the skygrasper, the Gatling shield would be too heavy.
but we could see strike rouge Ootori, strike noire pack and Akatsuki's packs on the skygrasper.
it be funny if there's a golden skygrasper for cagalli somewhere...
The cool model air fighter
where's part 1😢
MBT from Cosmic Era should have their vid.
What in gods name are Cosmic Era Mobile Suits Armoured with that a 20mm autocannon can pen them at medium-long range?
20mm cannons are for the small personal stuff that doesn't need to waste beam on just 20mm rds would do. Just like other small cannons on other universes MS functional have been used for.
Ok cool, I already understood that: then why is a jet effectively using them on Mobile Suits at medium-long range?
@@garrettlittle1279 cause for imitation factor while probably getting the bigger more suitable weapons ready to fire more accurately. I would say medium range when both Mu and Kira fired the beam cannons at much longer ranges. Though the latter only has fired the Striker launcher L in the Strike Gundam. Also let's behonest Mu LA Flaga is also a bit of a daredevil himself with most of his stuff he pilots that he nearly almost always risk his life. By doing number of stuff that would nearly get u killed (he nearly does almost dies few times). Such as using Skygrasper that close range or doing dumb stuff that nearly did kill him.
Plus I don't think 20mm need to be used. I mean the thing has like lots of weapons already that are way better than using 20mm. Like really why use 20mm when u have beam weapons or missiles, or add-ons like Launcher L equipment.
Ah, is this the Top Gun episode? Lol
Too bad, they didn't make a star fighter from gundam metal. That would be something.
Technically the closet to Star Fighters was those flying MAs in CE.
They already made it
Infinite Justice type 2 Backpack is Star Fighter in disguise just without hyperdrive yet 😂
@@ZeroDarkness- don't forget beam Saber wings lol.
I need hg of this
it such a shame that we dont get 'sky grasper' mobile suit unit
this mobile armour fighter can equip strike pack. such a waste if there is not transformation mobile suit variation of this.
You know what's funny I watch condom see destiny loved it Never finished Gundam seed I stopped that episode 50 or 51. I don't know where in Gundam seed it starts to pick up to get much better. The beginning to me person is a little bit too boring compared to Gundam Sea destiny.
Condom 🤨🤨🤨
When you do a blitz gundam development history kakarot197

So the Cosmic Era timeline is Grand Theft: Gundam.

Well at least the Blood Ravens had it a bit easier. The Necrons didn't hide a Cyclops System under Kaurava.
