While the Ayegear vest is a clear ripoff of the Scottevest product, they do seem to be branching out into (slightly) less obvious copies (their hoodie for example). The thing is, for those of us living in the UK it's a case of $70 plus import taxes and international shipping for a Scottevest hoodie or £40 from Amazon UK for an Ayegear equivalent (with free postage). Instead of spending time hanging about various forums slagging off Ayegear, Scottevest should make their products available in the UK. If they don't, then let someone else get on with filling the demand that clearly exists for these products.
Hi, Thanks for the comment. I have paid good money for a number of scottevest items and all of them have stood the test of time. I found the Ayegear to be low quality straight out of the packet. All I can make is observations. I respect your opinion, but unless you have the original to compare with you will never really know the difference.
Thanks for the comment. I'm not that bitter about the size being difference. Or the waste of cash or I'd have gone for a refund. I'm not good at going through the hassle of returning stuff for a refund. It was more worth my time making the video highlighting that there was a bad copy of some otherwise decent gear on the market. That's the more interesting story. That someone can go for exactly the same customers with almost the same clothing but not modify or build upon existing designs.
If the AyeGear vest was the wrong size, why not get them to exchange it for a better size FREE of charge? They do mention that on their web site? They also say that if you are unhappy with the garment you can get a full refund as well... so I'm a little confused on why you are out of pocket when there was no need to be.
Hi, thanks for the comment. I agree. This is a time where we stand on the shoulders of giants and those that do this and improve and inspire are the ones who deserve the credit. I don't know Ayegear as a person like you do, but if I did.. I'd tell him there is nothing noble in blatantly ripping off an established bit of geek gear in the way he did, without improving on it.. It would not be fair for me to comment further as I have recently come to know Scott a bit and my opinion may be swayed.
I agree. It's not really a review though. It's my observations based on my knowledge of both garments taking into consideration Scottevest's record for quality and my impressions of the Ayegear after buying and wearing it. If i had got a free jacket from Ayegear I would have felt exactly the same. Although less like I'd wasted £60.
I know that ScotteVest has virtualy all their products manufactured in China. Do you know where the AyeGear was manufactured? I'm wondering if may have been made in the same factory...
I have to disagree with the review! I just got my Scottevest (the classic travel vest) directly from their online store and the zippers are terrible! Just like the AyeGear on the video. I admit I bought it on sale (= no returns), but I did not expect I will have to clean the zipper area for loose threads!
I'm amazed that Ayegear would do this so blatantly. I mean this is not a subtle ripoff. It's a clone. A bit wonky in places but I feel that if they had designed something from scratch they could have made something half decent. Not a crappy copy of clothing already done well elsewhere.
are Scottevest trying to be the Apple of vests ? are they going to sue everyone who ever made a jacket with a zip and pockets as they claim to own the patents on them ??
Thanks for the comparison, sad that they are stealing Scotts ideal to make a quick buck. I own 3 Scott eVest products and love them. I will continue to buy Scott eVest's products.
you seem to be my size. most people say that in order to get a stuff on the jacket better to go one size higher. have you tried on xl? all my shirts are xl, i feel uncomfortable in L which is probably my size. !! so wondering if a xl would look ok!. just found out one of my old jackets which is way too big, is xxl! all this time I thought it was a xl!
I totally disagree with you. They AyeGear much better than the ScottieVest. Your just being blatantly biast for the ScottieVest because you got it for nothing. This is not a proper comparison. Your being extremely unfair.
I think Ayegear thought they could make a quick buck by ripping off a successful product. The thing is, Scottevest now sells from the UK so it's not such a long distance ripoff now.. And regarding the bird song. Normally yes. Very relaxing Today though I had the 'caralarm' bird and the screecher, both doing my head in.. :)
It's like people driving a car that sounds, looks like a golf, just get a bloody golf. So is this a case of "imititation is not flattery"? I thought birdsong was supposed to be relaxing? :-)
I almost bought the v26 vest but afyer your review, I definitely Won't be buying it! Sticky zippers are a Huge Con for me! I'd rip it off to get free! I guess I'll have to find another manufacturer that is in the same price point. I really don't want to pay $300+ Cad for a travel vest I'd rarely use at home.

Use your own discretion , read both points of view, for balanced pov look at ayegear vs scottiewest and dig deeper
I love this video! As a longtime Scottevest user and fan I applaud exposing these folks, all for a quick buck (or quid in this case)...

Well price plays a factor also scottevest aren’t made for backpacks the rub the back and they rip plus the material isn’t that good

So how do I buy a Scottevest in the UK??????????? I would really like to buy one but don't want to get ripped off with import TAX?
I need to get one before the end of April, can anyone help me out??
Ask @Scottevest on twitter. I think they have a sale on.

One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. Yes.. It was a gift from the original artist.
It's more than possible.
Maybe lots of people are queuing up to ask the same question. ;)
Che Gueverra? Really? LOL

+kieran Taylor You might get lucky on eBay. Some come up on there every once in a while.
Respect to the Scottevest, buying 1 :)
what size ur wearing?
A US large. It's a bit like a UK XL
you seem to be my size. most people say that in order to get a stuff on the jacket better to go one size higher. have you tried on xl? all my shirts are xl, i feel uncomfortable in L which is probably my size. !! so wondering if a xl would look ok!. just found out one of my old jackets which is way too big, is xxl! all this time I thought it was a xl!
I live in the UK and an American XL is a UK XXL. Way too big for me. American Large is fine for me in England.
thanks !
