If they had told me that years later I would be a fan of a kpop girl group, listening to their albums like crazy, watching all their concert videos and even fancams, I would never have believed it. So much I could say lol, but i'll keep it simple. In my opinion neither Jeongyeon or Mina went on a Kpop type HIatus. Mina, in my opinion needed some time to fully grasp Sharon, something made easier because Sana IS a Sharon. Once she accepted Sharon she came back to us, I love Sharon. Oh and she may be an angel but she's more a princess if you ask me. Now Jeongyeon took injury rehab time and had nothing to do with an issue she had with being an IDOL She was young and had no one to help her realize that you can't rush a spinal surgery rehab so she came back before she was ready and had to leave again and this time she listened to the doctors and stayed out till she fully recovered. To show you her true strength, taking steroids' is part of the regiment of any spinal injury rehab and weight gain is a side effect. Weight is a stupid part of Kpop but Jeongyeon basically told all the haters to f... off and has just kept on making us ONCE's smile, and looks more beautiful than ever (yes she was, is and always will be my bias). The part of "three stages of a story" is just plain wrong if you really listen to Twice's dicography. Twice's music even from the start shows hint of agency eventhough from a standpoint of a teen. They're not even really bubble gum pop they're teen pop that's why they encompass a lot of other genre (yes even from their first albums but people just associate Twice with bubble gum pop or cutesy concept because of Cheer Up and starting from the Twicecoaster album which leaned more to these concepts). If you want to describe the themes of their earlier albums it's basically coming of age musings but that doesn't mean that "love" or being in a relationship is not present during the first albums cause there are songs there that depicts they are already in a relationship. They also show assertiveness to certain extent on how they pursue and try to make their move for their relationship. God I dream of a RUclips introduction for Kpop Group that does not lean on making desperate emotional appeal to the audience.
