Jennifer had a tremendous career. 3 slam finals and 1 olympic final, winning all 4 over Hingis, Clijsters, and Graf. Spent some time as number one as well. She hit the ball so solidly and cleanly. Never afraid to play anyone anywhere...as evidenced by her heated H2H with Serena. They had some clashes....as did Jennifer and Monica. Legend.

JenCap won only 14 titles in her career.
She profited in the early 00s from the weak competition on slower surfaces (Graf gone, Sanchez over the hill, Hingis mentally destroyed after FO 99, Henin not yet there).

The top 10 at the time of this match:
      1 Capriati
      2 Davenport
      3 Venus Williams
      4 Hingis
      5 Clijisters
      6 Serena Williams
      7 Henin
      8 Maursemo
      9 Dokic
      10 Seles
Nine of the top ten were former or future number one players. Weak competition? LMAO. You're uneducated and still bitter because Jen embarrassed Graf badly at the Olympics, denying her an historic second gold. Stop making every conversation about Graf. She is not the center of the universe. Jen is not the most accomplished of course, but she grabbed the opportunities when they presented themselves and was a tremendous competitor. She won every one of the matches that counted the most in her career, and over some legitimate competition. Get a life.

Jennifer Capriati, if you knew her story, did all she could to overcome her difficult years and time away from the game of Tennis. She is an inspiration, a fighter and an overall champion. Tennis will not be the same without her, and it was a pleasure to support Jen, when she played and when she took time away to sort herself out.

Except for that one terrible line call against Serena at the 2004 US Open, which Capriati acknowledged later. No respect for a player that has a win-at-all-cost attitude at the expense of good sportsmanship. Similar to Henin's hand incident against Serena at the FO. At least the Capriati match ushered in the age of line call reviews in the form of the challenge system.

Hingis needed to be in better shape. She lost a lot of big matches because she ran out of gas. This one, the 99 French, the 2000 US Open SF against Venus. Her game relied on a lot of precision and she needed to in position to execute her brilliant shots -- not at all unlike her namesake, Martina Navratilova. But unlike the other Martina, she didn't put in the off court work to do that.

You never ever left your heart on the court like the true champions did, so in this match, even if you got all the opportunities! Players like Jennifer, Steffi and Monica and a few more went a different way and that will remain! The heart was the key, not the arrogance! Congratulations Jennifer Capriati!

She thought to can get over decisions of the chair umpire, played services from underneath. Went to the opponent side, got up to umpire stule, left the court after losing? What kind of heart is this? Never heard of true champion the same! Sorry , she just smuggled through!

I could never STAND Hingis. So happy Jennifer pulled this one out. When Hingis was winning a match she always acted all cocky and as soon as she started losing there was NO FIGHT or drive in her game. No grit, no determination, just a head case that acted like she didn't care which is a "LOSER'S LIMP". She was arrogant and I just couldn't stand the way she carried herself or acted and there are VERY FEW women's players that I have ever felt that way about.
