I listened to this song, this exact video, while getting sober and in the midst of early withdrawal, it's amazing how emotions come flooding in when you start feeling the world again and in a hyper sensitive state. Almost like being born again while also feeling the physical and emotional aches of readjusting to equilibrium. This song helped me feel.
"Booms and busts and heaves and rusts" I love this line its so poetic as the whole song is and just the sound of it when sung is just great. Really captures that rust belt sense of place.
All my friends in the Heart... You've been in the trenches too long. Yet it gave you the strength to get through what's coming and doing so with good music, community.. Keep going. Be merry, be happy, ❤💫💪
apkoen thank you for watching! This track along with Charlie's whole session recordings are available for the next 30 days! thewhitewallsessions.bandcamp.com/ A lot of great music with more to come in the next weeks!
I feel like this song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of growing up in and living in rural America. The lyrics are pretty straight forward. But the juxtaposition of the quick, busy guitar and the slow, almost tired singing and facial expression from Charlie remind me of watching my grandparents and parents when I was a kid. And it definitely resonates with my adult life.
Same, same, same. All of Charlie's music does that to me. It holds the spirit of small human stories, and the perpetual struggle of every plain, honest, inescapable day...I don't think any words I try to write can express why I'm left weeping at all of his songs, but I am.
I had the pleasure of first seeing Charlie at the Community Center out on Park Point in Duluth a few years back, and have been a fan ever since. Sing on, Mr. Parr!

If my soul was a physical being, it would look like Charlie Parr.
He’s just so damn good. I mean damn.
Mike LaBo Music agreed, not much can compare to the styles of Charlie Parr. #hifromsd

I can't stop playing this song. I don't think I can even write about it; I keep getting choked up.
He's a genius.
I love everything about this.......it affects me viscerally....sobbing and not exactly sure why. anyway, thanks
It's so solemnly grounded but optimistically life-affirming, the definition of bittersweet.

This song is what heaven sounds like. I wish I could pick half as well
A man with talent like this... 13,000 views. Gungham style... billions. I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
A thousand are mine!
This song makes me wanna hang out awhile
I hear you. I guess that's why need Charlie Parr even more, yeah it's a tough upside down world.
Timeless.
Time moves as fast as it ever did, there ain't nothin' you can do to slow it down.
+dylansaves "the years are goin by like days"

Yeah, it'll outlast us all.
I love Charlie, timelessness thank you
When the incredible is just 'the usual', what does that mean? Charlie is an American institution. One of a few players that I would love to see.
Beautiful
