All the named angels we know of in scripture are male. But to our knowledge, there is no canonized doctrine as to whether ALL angels are male. The Greek word used for angel in the New Testament is "angelos," which is a masculine word (hence the "he" used for the angel in Acts 12:7 most translations), but that word does not actually have a feminine form. It is perhaps unlikely that New Testament writers were making a comprehensive doctrinal statement about the nature of angels. In the recent Book of Mormon video presenting 3 Nephi, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints depicts female angels. What we do know is that God has many mighty servants on Earth and in heaven, male and female, and they are all His children. LUL uses artistic license to present that idea, but we're not making any doctrinal statements regarding that. We invite everyone to search the scriptures and study the words of modern prophets. With the help of the Spirit, we'll find the answers we need!

This lesson, by far, is the best "application" type I've watched so far. Good parallels to our modern digital world as well as the lesson at the airlines. Keep up the good work!

We must be changed to be accepted by God.
It's a tough truth for today.

It's the timing of Father in Heaven more than anything. This is a stumbling block for many mortals. All the more need to #HearHim each day lest we should stumble.

Yes. You have to leave your baggage behind to be a Christian. That's an excellent metaphor.

You always tell your viewers to read the Scriptures for themselves. Thanks. There is a disconnect as we discussed in our meeting in the Manti stake yesterday. People are too casual.

I'm the Manti stake Sunday School secretary. Barnabas looks exactly like our stake Sunday School president, Bro. Kiser. I wonder if he donated to your cartoons.

A "Gentile" simply refers to a person from a nation that has forgotten the old covenant of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It does not mean they are not of the bloodline of Israel.
We know this because 2 Nephi 3 tells us that Joseph Smith is a blood descendant of Joseph of Egypt. If that is the case, then so are millions of other European descended people. Myself and many other LDS have a patriarchal blessing that says they are literal descendants of Ephraim.

4:54 you did that thing again. You made an angel a woman again instead of what it says in ACTS 12:7. The scripture calls the angel a man. "HE smote Peter on the side..."
No one believes that there are no women saved in heaven. It's a straw man from the enemy.
But when we change what the scriptures say, it seems like we're bending the doctrine to be politically correct. Which makes us seem disingenuous to both sides. Believers and accusers.
It's not hateful to women to make the angels men. Don't worry what the world may say. One of the titles of Satan is The Accuser.

@@tjedwards4254 Though I doubt Luke or his scribe was trying to make a doctrinal statement about the nature angels in Acts 12:7... :)

@tdurham1858 I doubt it was an accident to call God and the angel male.

Our general rule is to keep as accurate as possible, and I still think this should have been a male angel, however as we pinned in the comments in Greek there is only the masculine form for angel and therefore it is very possible it could be a female still. That said when we do that we usually try to explain why, which we’ve now added in the comments. This is an example how we dislike race and gender or anything emotionally charged to unfortunately detract from the teaching and message. I’m certain there are female angels, however it’s generally best to stick to the text or provide an explanation.
