Why wasn't the money there to pay for promised projects? Why isn't there a safe place for homeless people to be located that wouldn't interfere with businesses and private property? People need 2 eat & sleep, wash toilet, access resources,be protected. We r human beings

Transparency & accountable 4 the money including given to shelters & donated. Who was the money given to? What did they do with it? Where is the document that shows any & all transactions? Why didn't the homeless people get the money? What actually did the homeless get 4 the money? How much did administration & staff get. Don't tell the money is gone and nobody knows where. it's housing authorities as well. most of the builders, nonprofit and private incentivised housing owners, and housing authorities are paying high prices for too few units, not lots of cheap ones; and letting middle class occupy them instead of the poor. HUD is calling 72,000+ income " low income". They want thier family members and staff to get the cheap housing that's probably why. They don't reserve it for the poorest only. Those don't get in .

If you are homeless go find Catholic Charities. Most cities/towns have a Catholic group already on the ground...they helped me in California once....they get you a motel room, they bought a couple of motels for this, free rent, or their shelter, where I went. Grants Pass homeless camping law wasn't abusive, they allow homeless to camp in designated parks but they must move to a new park every week, this distinction means they are camping and the park is NOT their home. Homeless advocates think making them move every week was criminalizing homelessness, it is not, they would only get a ticket if they wouldn't move, some resisted moving to test the law, they failed.

Cities need to move away from dorm style shelters with bunk beds and need to recognize that people want some sense of personal space. Most people living in tents on sidewalks would be happy to be inside, protected from the elements, even if they were just living inside tents under a roof. The utter lack of imagination of officials is stunning. Why not take input from those who prefer living in tents and create new kinds of shelters. The old format is not suitable. And building "affordable housing" isn't affordable to the cities.. and it doesn't happen fast enough. There are tons of empty buildings - commercial and industrial. Get creative with how to repurpose those spaces to rapidly ramp up shelter and clean up the cities.

According to the Bible, Christianity teaches that Christians should help the poor and treat them with compassion and justice. Some say that helping the poor is a religious duty and that those who do so are righteous and good. The Bible includes many verses that address how Christians should treat the poor, including:
    Deuteronomy 15:10
"Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to"
    Proverbs 19:17
"Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done"
    Proverbs 22:9
"The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor"
    Proverbs 31:9
"Defend the rights of the poor and needy"
    Proverbs 14:31
"Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God"
    Proverbs 22:22-23
"Do not exploit the poor because they are poor and do not crush the needy in court, for the Lord will take up their case and will exact life for life"

They need to set aside a sanctioned place for those with no housing and provide services there, then there is an option. Also work on more housing. Then they can fairly limit the encampments that severely impact areas that were never intended for camping and causing safety issues. They also need to recognize that allowing people who are incapable of making informed decisions to make terrible decisions that endanger themselves and others is not freedom, it is neglect. Common sense needs to make a comeback and actual compassion is sometimes saving someone from themself. Everything does not need to be an option when that right infringes on the rights of others and causes danger and prevents a city from functioning in the way it was intended. And they need to recognize the varying reasons for homelessness-there is no excuse for disabled, children and elderly people to be unhoused in America. The mentally ill population need housing with treatment and not to be kicked out when they are stabilized. Those with addictions need mandatory interventions if they cannot function without endangering themselves or others, and public intoxication used to be something that could be addressed and that needs to be an option again. People trying to use sidewalks, residences, parks, and businesses as intended should have rights too. Then there are people who truly just have financial issues trying to make ends meet, and providing them with often temporary support makes their ability to be housed and employed a reality. There needs to be some examination of why this is happening, some compromise, and then apply some solutions that help resolve this dilemma in a better way. There also needs to be better communication and coordination between agencies managing the funding.
