  • Meet Lyniel he is a Filipino UK nurse, who has moved to work in Saudi Arabia. As experienced UK nurse, one can earn more in Saudi. In there you will be living in a free accommodation and paying less tax. Is it worth it though? As the culture is quite different. Lyniel tells us his story.
Due to current circumstances, we have had to do our interviews this way. Also for future videos we will find different and creative ways to them.

I worked as a nurse in saudi for 7 years total. I'm here in the UK now for 2+years. I still miss Saudi because of friends and work. Yes working hours is higher but when you work with very good people, you enjoy it. Here in UK, there is great politics in hospitals most especially London, working environment and quality of service are not that great. In Saudi, I worked in a gov't hospital with multiple international accreditations so standard of care is extremely high that I can't help but to compare the quality that I experience here.

I think parang bumaba ang sahod sa ngayon, because as far as I know , way back 2006 when I applied as an ER nurse sa Saudi, I was offered nearly $4000( ?£3000) per month ( kaka british Citizen ko lang sa time na yun), pero d na natuloy dahil ang liliit pa ng mga anak ko, ngayon nagdecide ako na maginquire sa mga agency, and disappointed dahil di naman masayado malayo ang difference ng sahod dito sa UK at saudi (I was offered a job in Medina KF). Yung figure ng salary na sinasabi mo tama yan, I'll try to negotiate my salary to my agency if they can give me a good offer and ill update you all.

Did he mention about workload and employment status? Is he gonna start as a staff nurse for example and still earn much? I also wonder how others perceived about his status being fil-brit.

Western-passport holders po hina-hire sa hospitals like KFSH&RC and also MNGHA. Sa mga hospitals po na yan may mga UA (unit assistants) na task mag-translate at may mga arab na colleagues din naman.
