I’m in Saudi right now for work. It’s been amazing seeing the new levels of freedom, economic growth and development that SO strongly contrast my experiences here 9 years ago. The sense of relief is palpable. The Saudis have always treated me well but now there is an unreserved openness and friendliness that reminds me of Egypt. I hope good things for the people of Saudi, and pray that as they explore new avenues of freedom that it doesn’t just turn into new burdens brought on by the same moral pitfalls we suffer from in the west. I spent almost my whole life in Germany. I got the opportunity to move to Saudi Arabia, a country, that sounds strange and dangerous for Europeans, mostly because all we know is from media. When I arrived in Saudi, it was (as expected) a different world. But it was a world that fell in love with within a couple of days. So many nice and polite people. So much Respekt, I was welcomed by every single person. I came to the conclusion that the beauty of a country depends significantly on the people. I am still in Saudi and I still love this country like the first day.

@@ajs41 -- A good question. I generally stay at the Courtyard Diplomatic Quarter, and I've seen plenty of women business travelers there, several who seemed to be traveling alone. That said, they're likely not visiting the more depressed areas; more likely working with contacts in the government, or with Aramco. And that isn't substantially different than working with business people anywhere else, at least since MBS started making changes in women's rights there.

I worked there from 1983-1984 in the radiology department of a hospital and the Saudi people were very kind. The country was so beautiful in its own desert way. I did have a few bad experiences such as being attacked with sticks by the religious belief because my jeans, long sleeved men’s shirt and knee length coat still revealed too much LOL! But overall an amazing experience that I’m grateful for.
I love how you opened the video with "this is about Saudi people, not Saudi politics". People get so hung up about the political situation in any area that we can forget that these places are filled with normal people just like us going about their lives.
When those normal people in Yemen going about their lives have a bomb dropped on them at least they can take solace in the fact that there are citizens of the government dropping the bombs who are just like them.
Even if you say this is about Saudi culture, it’s still a despicable place in terms of the way they treat women. “Normal” people? You must be a man. There’s nothing “normal” about treating women as slaves and second-class citizens.
Wow, this is amazing! I was there for a few years right before all the reforms. Happy to see it happen, and I really miss the Saudi people. The most hospitable people I have met anywhere in the world.

I have read thousands of such news. I was riding a bus overseas in Pakistan when I heard a commotion in the next seats. One lady yelled at some goon for his inappropriate remarks and 10 guys stood up asking."Sister, you got some problem due to this guy?" and that goon slipped away in the meantime as he knew she had got help. Now in which situation woman should feel safe when she just raises her voice and ten men come to her help taking her as their own daughter, sister or mother, or when a girl keeps crying at night inside elevator or park or keeps banging door until she is ready to get raped? Draw your own conclusion. Peace!!

I wouldn’t agree with the second Muhammad in regards to “living in Saudi was like living with ISIS”. ISIS torture and kill people. I lived there and I did not feel that way. The one correction I'll make about something Mohammad said is the head scarfs (Hijabs). I moved there in 2000 and never wore a Hijab unless I was having a bad hair day. I know there were different rules for Saudis vs. expats, but yeah, the only times that the religious police would attempt to tell us to cover our hair was during Ramadan. But headscarfs aren't really a legal term thing, it's religious, and I barely ever wore it out. So it's not something that became legal two years prior to your video being posted.

You'll find that almost everywhere. The people are great. The politicians and politics, not so much.
Even if you say this is about Saudi culture, it’s still a despicable place in terms of the way they treat women. “Normal” people? You must be a man. There’s nothing “normal” about treating women as slaves and second-class citizens.
And yet no one woman in there. Are 'Saudi people' exclusively men?

@@On_The_Piss is this what your extremely racist ’’news’’ channels has ’’informed’’ u with
@@On_The_Piss . Women who want to write a thesis about women in the middle east, leave with a different idea and then return with a different tune. Why??? Simple Q? A woman keeps crying loudly inside an elevator or park and nobody comes to save her until she is raped and only the surrounding public comes with stories the next day, we heard her cries, we heard her cries but never dared to go or dial 911, in the meantime the goon tells, "see you have cried three times and nobody came, if you cry once more, I am going to slit off your throat and you know what would have happened after that? Peace!!

It's a different culture and harder to run into some rich minority, driving around & getting excited at the sight of a foreign stranger... besides, we see it as quite dangerous to get into the car of someone you don't know, as well as picking up random ppl. (who might rob you or wtv)
Saudi and most middle East countries had low crime rate due to their Islamic law..they are not living in fear.. that's why they not afraid to offer a ride to stranger..

I wouldn’t agree with the second Muhammad in regards to “living in Saudi was like living with ISIS”. ISIS torture and kill people. I lived there and I did not feel that way. I would say that 2 years ago, Saudi was more strict with the Islamic beliefs and its culture. In regards to being held for having a tattoo and cutting a person hair, this was done by the religious police which unfortunately was operated mostly by people who had no to little knowledge in the Islamic studies. And some comments that I would say if I was with you is that most houses in the area where the foreigner lived were once owned by Saudi people and then they were given away by the owners to whomever in need. And yes, Saudi Arabia, especially Riyadh, is a night city because of the climate. I hope you have a great time in Saudi.

But let’s talk about the reality, because you sound like you’re living in a movie. We Muslims don’t want libéralisme, because it’s subjective, it’s baseless. It’s just about what white people find okay, it’s the white mens sensibility. Like having sex with your own sister, having sex with animals, homosexuality, and more of these disgusting things are freedom in your eyes. But it’s madness in our eyes. We DONT want it. You can’t force your taste upon us. Talking about animal, go clean your own mess first, people are starving in USA. They kill each other for 1 gram cocaine. Look at the crime statistics, you would almost think the USA is a war zone. You guys think letting your sister or wife walk half naked is freedom, well, we don’t share this opinion. And don’t talk like your the president of the USA. “ we will invade you” bla bla bla. You will do nothing my friend.
I lived there for 3 years. It is a fascinating place...culture shock. Great food....locals are friendly. Beautiful beaches!!!
❤
Can you go there as a woman? Not alone of course! But with husband and Kids?
@@momijiso9535 I did...didn't have kids.
@@momijiso9535 I see women arguing with cops here I’m on vacation right now but the point is I’ve seen plenty of women without the fully covered clothing just cover your hair for decency but the rest is fine like jeans and stuff you don’t need a man or kids to go if you want you can bring them too

Love the people of Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 ❤ form Canada 🇨🇦 😊
Only you can get coffee on your first day in a new country, immediately get offered a ride from a nice stranger, and tour the city. You must have divine energy!

@@robertb9902 lol I actually know the guy. I was surprised to see him in the video.
No this is actually what we do here, it’s our culture. I’m Saudi from Riyadh and when i wen to south east Saudi (Abha) locals welcomed me and my family and offered food and coffee, I would do the same if i saw a non local in Riyadh

Second Man was lying

even if he was lying the freedom he was talking about was a disaster, if it is true then the workers from our countries will also enjoy their women alot , since there are women in the middle age no body marries them , there desires high.

This is some really great news that this change of freedom took place around the beginning of the so called COVID. So many good things that have taken place that are still under the radar of giving the world some good news! This is so awesome and you are so gifted with bringing this great news to our attention! I love you brother and thank you! Much love and peace and protection to you and everyone you encountered on your journey! 💚🙏🏻💪🏻
I lived and worked in Riyadh for 8 years, left last year. Missing it after watching this, a lot of change in the time I was there.
Do you speak Arabic
Same man i miss this country alot i was raised there
aww
These series have been an daily watch since I discovered them a week or so back. They really do show a different side. Its clear we've always been presented as the people / country being its politics, but this series had shown people to be the same over, despite how theyre painted world over. Great series!
When I was on a previous visit to Washington DC and I was walking in the National Mall near the Pentagon, a lady's car stopped and asked me to ride with her and she drove me to my apartment in Crystal City spontaneously and we chatted as Mr. Peter does in Riyadh...Saudi in Riyadh
