    Personaly I like seeing the whole ball of wax..... From walking out explaining what you see, to choping a hole and setting the trap. That is alway cool. Makes me want to get outside. Then when you finish up by coming back a day or so later and finding all thoser frozen critters. It's all good and fun to watch and learn.

    I have not trapped too many beaver but have cleaned a few ponds out that were being torn up by dens. The most in one was seven. It was up a ditch in a pasture one half mile from a creek. They were down to eating the small buck brush, in the pasture, because the trees were all eaten. The food bed was tiny for 7 beaver. I snared a monster that had loose and sagging skin all over it's mid section. It still weighed 74 pounds. I can't imagine what it weighed healthy!?!? It looked to be starving/unhealthy. Have any of you caught beaver that had unusually sagging skin, that looked sick or starving?

    Hahaha, had to laugh on the start when you said that you hope you don't drown, any day you don't drown yourself is a good day! In my area, the old established lodges will usually have 10 beaver. The big breeding adults, 4 two year olds and 4 from that year. That all depends on if any have been killed by wolves or other predators through. Anyhow, good trapping brother,, you're a master at the craft.

    I think this is a fascinating video, I had to watch it to the end, sir. Please excuse me, being from the west coast, I am not familiar with trapping at all. I had a couple questions. What do you do with the beavers? Do you make a summer sausage out of them or do you sell the pelts? 60 lbs! that is like a small child what is the max weight they can get up to? Do you make money on these beavers? Is trapping pretty profitable? Sorry for all the questions, just an excellent and fascinating video! Thanx!

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  3 года назад

      I sell them to a fur buyer, I do consume some of the meat but usually cook it in a crock pot or a roaster. If i'm lucky Ill make some gas money. Trapping isn't very profitable unless you are doing damage control work.

    So seemed like you got most of the beaver going IN to the bank dens. 1) Where are they coming from if you pretty much had everything covered but still you were getting them going IN. 2) with a lodge that size why do they have so many active den holes? I’m asking because you have a hella lot more experience with big lodges up there, in my area it’s mostly dens not lodges. Thanks good videos.

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  3 года назад +4

      There was one run located in the front of the lodge that I could not touch bottom and was uncovered. When the colony is so large often they will have numerous bank dens to accommodate all of the beavers sleeping quarters.
