@@firelordkushroll based from the looks of it, we should thank Mark for this. He is actually playing the game therefore proposes solutions that we actually need, instead of +2 radius to cleave.
@@firelordkushroll I imagine their "gaslighting" was because a better trade system implied a more automated one (like this) which meant less player interaction. They wanted to emulate the magic that was trading in D2, and player interaction was a huge part of that. That being said, I think I'll enjoy this new system as the player interaction was already abysmal. PoE doesn't force you to host/join lobbies, which I think is what enabled D2 to have such a fun, community-building trading system. Unfortunately, I don't think PoE can ever really achieve that without drastic changes. Also, I think quality of life features can be dangerous to a game and GGG is very aware of this. It's common for bored players to request features that ultimately dumb down a game, and they do so because they're tired of doing the same old repetitive tasks. They're 1k+ hours into a game and don't want to do X, Y, and Z anymore but they aren't thinking about new players or people who haven't played as much as them. Those people likely still enjoy those features so it's a two-way street. That's why it's dangerous for developers to cave in to these requests and is part of the reason why things like OSR and WoW classic exist - because the games traded too much of their original identity for QoL (among other reasons). I respect GGG for being aware of this, sometimes what you think is objectively good for a game could be the very thing that leads to it's downfall.

the worst thing about crafting is that you had to buy tons of one thing, then it wouldnt be enough and you had to whisper another 20 people which wouldnt even respond, and if they finally do you repeat the process 10 times this actually makes me want to explore the secrets of crafting instead of just playing full-unique builds
@@kooshappreciator4773 I mean yes but no. If you are an active POE player you know that the first 10-15~ are price fixers that will not respond but the issue is you never truly know. I've needed div to chaos trades or fusing trades or w/e and I legit just end up spam messaging usually around 10~ people until one of them sends me an invite.

This is bringing me back to the game, been poking my head up for years just to see if a marketplace had been added. Fantastic; will still have to use the boards to buy gear but this alone makes the game worth coming back to.

this implements at minimum three gates to keep market price fixing bots at bay - first is gold, have to farm that to even be able to buy anything and made only aplicable at higher levels which would force bots to at least clear most of the campaign to be viable then the max limit meaning only 10 transfers at any given time which is more than enough for normal player but severely limiting any bulk buyout bot and lastly the transfer isnt instant but "over time" combine these three together and bot trade fixers would need to run HUNDREDS of leveled up bots that have to spend portion of the time farming for gold to do what tehy currently can achieve with single lvl 1 account

@@Zaonnn alchemy orb really isn't massive though? You can't trade it for anything as the very early uniques are priced in chaos. Most builds don't care about the skill gems it unlocks until they get more sockets, which by then alchs are worthelss anyway. FINALLY. Now we just need a gear trading section. Instead of seeing the perfect item on trade site, but the guy is afk or just non-responsive, you would just buy it from the AH and get the item in your inventory. The other player gets the currency straight to his stash tab while he's afk, making money literally offline, and I get to have my perfect gear piece without having to wait potentially hours. Add like a 5 minute delay to the auction house, and a counter of how many people tried to purchase your item within those 5 minutes, so that if you accidentally misprice something, it doesn't get immediately bought by a bot or camper and you have time to fix it.

Trading currency was always a massive put off for me. At lower levels or just reaching maps and you need just 6 regrets to unbrick your character (because you messed up), but spending an hour on the trade site trying to get somebody willing to respond and trade was a nightmare. This looks like it will completely solve that barrier. Not only that but special orbs that you need can be easily obtained without having to re-spec an atlas just to farm them (solo casual players rejoice). It's a great idea. At low levels, just sell Alts and get Chaos, use Chaos for item trades and keep the build progression smooth and fun with more time in game and less time spent on whispers.
this is already a million times better than the normal way of exchanging things. now I might actually be able to enjoy buying and selling to support myself
Yeah, I hate how the current system works and love the design of the one they made for currencies here. They need to go all the way. I hate how with the current system if you search for something specific, it only highlights what you look for but doesn't remove everything else. for things that there's tons of items in the same category you can easily shift through 50 pages only to find like 3 items available highlighted. I also hate the restriction where you can't trade with the same person twice over a period of time, and one person has pretty much cornered the entire market. I play on Playstation5, and have trouble buying just about anything cause virtually everything is always owned by a single player, makes getting currencies I need super hard, especially for things that used to only cost a few chaos, being sold for a dozen or more divines
GGG has been the best company around for years now. So cool to see Mark take over in Chris's shoes. He's doing an amazing job and game has gotten better and better over the last few leagues. The leagues themselves have been so-so in my opinion, but the overall game feels soooo much better. Excited for the future
@@Fayzon11 It literally can't suck but sure. Can't trade gold which means you have to actually play the game to trade. Most importantly though you don't get the gold back if you cancel a trade order and you can't just rug pull people or sit idle with fake ratios trying to deflate the value of a currency so you can buy it up at lower than actual value.
@@YuYuYuna_ My concern is with the "recommended" ratios themselves. Who knows what that ratio is based on. We should be able to just see all the active sell orders and purchase from them directly. Race to the best price before its gone.
From a technical point of view It would be fantastic of GGG devs release a forum/blog post about how this was implemented onto your own engine, the approach and the planning etc... A lot of people who play PoE are engineers and they might appreciate the read up even if they have an idea on how this has been done. Anyways, thank you GGG team for the marvelous work.
Bulk transfer of currency through inventory/stash with one click is such a great addition. It's the simple little things that impact the enjoyment in the biggest ways I think. I also like the addition of the currency market, but as SSF not sure I'll ever be using it.
The price fixing potential is there for niche stackable items where the price is high but the supply is low. You could probably trade between people to set a favorable price for an item then wait for the market to match the price you set so the group can capitalize. Interesting if this will be the case. Still excited for this change and how it will change the game.
At least the market supply will be higher than usual, since people can actually play the game and run maps instead of sitting in hideouts waiting for AFK traders!
This is amazing! I've wanted this for so long. Something that would be nice is to see your own gold balance somewhere in the UI in the Currency Exchange Market
The gold cost fee from only playing is genius to prevent bots from using bad actor tactics !!! I hope this goes well ! Thank you so much PATH OF EXILE !
Amazing, I love all of this. Have not been this stoked for a new league. Now the cherry on the sundae will be the POE 2 next character reveal being the templar, just to throw more mud on blizz xD
My first leauge was Incursion, i've put 1.3k hours into poe since then (laughable numbers compared to some hardcore dudes for sure) I really enjoy this game, its probably my favorite game of all time and one I always come back too. I haven't played much the last few leagues because I started to just get tired of the trading system. poe is absolutely a time commitment and and when you have limited time to play, I cant tell you how frustrating it is to waste that time you could be mapping or bossing or crafting, waiting for someone to reply to your trade whisper. Im SO GLAD GGG has made this change! I think this is absolutely a step in the right direction, I will be more than happy to give them full feedback on how to improve it after a couple weeks of play. This combined with the RTS/time based element of the new league has set the stage for this league to be best poe has seen in years! Super stoked! Thanks GGG!!!!
gear opens the gates to a lot of flipping and market abuse, which is already possible but its so tedious that most players don't care to do it. If it became this easy to do then the game can quickly turn into camping the auction house 24/7 as the only way to get decent gear/currency gains. Last epoch gets around this by linking items to account, PoE has no such restrictions. The gold cost on these items would have to be insane, like 1hr of efficient map farming to trade for 1 item, so to gear out a character with all gear/gems/jewels etc it would be a 50+ hr gold grind. Otherwise the potential for market abuse is too high
Is the gold cost only dependant on stack size of input item? For example, in video it shows 1000 fusings -> 500 chaos costing 112k gold. Will the gold cost be the same for other way, 500 chaos -> 1000 fusings also 112k gold? or will it be half and be 56k gold? Because if it works like this then it might over inflate Divine Orb value, as buying 1500 alterations for 1 Div cost 500 gold, while 1500 alterations for 150chaos will cost 75k gold?
Yeah, i was thinking this could be an issue with this system as too. since there is a gold tax per item, people are going to want trade more with items that have higher value like divs. Less trades means less gold tax. The value of other things might increase in proportion to this tho. Since less people are going to want to trade with chaos orbs now, we might see weird trading offers like chaos for alterations being traded off at a 1 to 1 ratio with this system. What im afraid of is if the poe trade site still allows currency trades, people might avoid the currency market system altogether
Its strange tho since later in the video it shows him placing an order for 300 transmutes for 50 chaos orbs at a 1500 gold tax fee. Maybe the trading fee decreases as you upgrade your town? who knows...
I suspect each item will have an unlisted price per item traded. I suspect that the tax for trading 1 div would be much higher than 1 chaos, and further still from 1 alch
Just so you know, from 10 way maven we saw boss looting 12K gold per boss, you can expect the same from the map so I'll say something like 100K/map to half a million for a single T16 depending on how juice you run it.
Console and China POE already had a smaller scale TB but the inhibiting factor was no instant buyout. This is the fix for it! Hopefully the next iteration will include items!
Same, trying to put together a build is such hassle when you have to use the god awful 3rd party trade system. People rarely respond, and you have to constantly teleport back to attend to people waiting in line.
One of the most important changes in PoE imo! Great work GGG! Buy low amounts of currency was suck a pain and we (players) was almost forced to buy more quantity to get the trade happen.
The really great thing about this is it will finally make it easy to trade in currencies other than chaos/divs/fusings. We'll hopefully actually be able to trade scours->chromes, whetstones->regrets, whatever permutations you can think of that would have been a PITA with the already terrible trade even with the super liquid currencies.
no, the best part is those that want to buy, is no longer spamming 40 people to do the trade, and only trade with 1 and ignores the other 39 sellers that are slower to reply!
Really glad to see how many different things are on the market (essences, tattoos, oils etc) and not "just" ordinary currency. This will make some otherwise annoying atlas strats a lot more fun when you can liquidate instantly.
This is great but can we finally get something similar for items? Part of the reason I stopped playing the game is because of how tedious and time consuming trading for items is. You can waste hours messaging people who don’t reply. I’ve tried to get back into playing the game several times, but gave up because of this.
This is a GODSEND, FINALLY!!! No need to suffer from tens of people not responding to my messages because I want to buy just a few regret orbs.... This feature should stay in the game forever.

I mean, this looks 1000x times better than awful LE trade system, not even touching duping gold and hyper inflated economy on day 1
That might have been a small factor but i think the main reason is that Mark is now in control. He isn't affraid of taking chances and risks not to mention that Chris was the one pushing his "vision" all these years and not budging on it.

I waited for this 4 years ! Hope this experimental will be good and you will change mind and make it in standard too
I waited for this like 8-9 years, holy shit. Next they need to do full auction house when we could do that with items.
@@firelordkushroll based from the looks of it, we should thank Mark for this. He is actually playing the game therefore proposes solutions that we actually need, instead of +2 radius to cleave.
11 years
I think that this will be in standard next league, when this mechanic becomes a core mechanic. Have sense.
Similar to the popular section , a favorites option would be great , so I can instantly select the scarabs I'm currently running or fossils I'm frequently buying for a craft.
Or so that I can remember what ratio I've been selling my Harvest Lifeforce for.

@@yomanyo327 Certainly, but theoretically not allowed. And an ingame solution would be better for every player anyway.
Theres a search function, I guess you can use a regex string for that? I'm pretty sure there will be some Awakened PoE Trade function for it very early in the league, or with any other program.
@@Valdorian-u5x if its still going off of trade site values then im sure that awakened poe trade will be good to run with it. i dont think ggg planned to have a controlled market. this does help price fixers tho, but im sure it will go off of trade site since idk where they would get there values for prices.
This is going to make the game somehow even better. One of the few points of friction was trying to trade niche currency you're trying to use to upgrade/roll gear, and this completely removes most of that friction. Cannot wait.
most people sold the bad currency / bought just so they could price fix it , knowing price fixing will be harder / close to impossible i dont see people selling portal scrolls and the niche currency as much
@@roguethemachine3928 Now that its autotrade, lots of people will just list niche currencies for raw c. Niche currencies will now be sold more than ever.
@@roguethemachine3928 you will be able to sell them now and their price should increase. Most of the time when you get request for like 1div for 5k scrolls you dont want to bother to do that even if you listed it and even then its not worth going out of map. This removes it. That is my guess, im not en economy expert
Now we just need an auction house to sell gear. Id love to be out mapping and have items sold.
aWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. Just let us trade, dude. We have to wait for orders to fill up? we can't just see what's for sale and buy it? that's absolutely awful.

No
This shit is awesome.
let's be real, we've been used as beta testers for years now, were there some rough patches? yeah here and there, but we're still here, because ill always be down to beta test cool shit like this
They pretty much said that in the Q&A. People have also asked about bringing this system to PoE 1. It is both a test for 2 as well as a test to see it will also work in 1
I mean yeah anyone playing any live service game or any game currently in "early access" on steam is being used as alpha/beta testers.
As long as the game is good and continues to be good no one should care.

The best part about this is you don't have 50+ Trades at lower price that simply refuse to trade and maybe just want to manipulate the market prices. I simply love this refreshing change 😊
So many years waiting for this, you guys rock.
the worst thing about crafting is that you had to buy tons of one thing, then it wouldnt be enough and you had to whisper another 20 people which wouldnt even respond, and if they finally do you repeat the process 10 times
this actually makes me want to explore the secrets of crafting instead of just playing full-unique builds
Yess this exactly. I got to end game crafting once, made one decently good item then never did it again cause of the trading
If you whisper 20 people for craft materials you are doing something wrong
@@kooshappreciator4773 I mean yes but no. If you are an active POE player you know that the first 10-15~ are price fixers that will not respond but the issue is you never truly know. I've had trades where someone is selling bulk quite a bit cheaper than what others are and they actually accepted the invite. Point is, you shouldn't have to whisper people anyways. The trading system in POE is archaic and has needed this for many many years. Honestly is the biggest pain point of the game. I've legit stopped playing a few leagues because of how absolutely obnoxious trading currencies are. I've needed div to chaos trades or fusing trades or w/e and I legit just end up spam messaging usually around 10~ people until one of them sends me an invite.
the reason why I dont respond to you when u want to buy my currency... is becoz u have PMed 20 guys in 1 second to do the trade, so when i kill the map monster pack to be safe to reply to u, then u ignore me and trade with someone else!!! This is entiry your fault, and not everyone else!
@@Peter_Tissot I mean that can happen but it's way more common to just never get any responses to a lot of your trade requests for exactly this type of items/currency. But what's also great is that I can now sell some of these things without having to go out of my map etc. It's going to make the whole trading experience so, so much better for everyone involved.
This is the day that we've ALL been waiting for. Very excited to see this be the precursor to an all around auction house. One can hope 🤞🏼

Popular section is amazing! Market ratio hover is very useful! Gold gating to get people to play, love it!
This feature alone makes the league for me!
this implements at minimum three gates to keep market price fixing bots at bay - first is gold, have to farm that to even be able to buy anything and made only aplicable at higher levels which would force bots to at least clear most of the campaign to be viable
then the max limit meaning only 10 transfers at any given time which is more than enough for normal player but severely limiting any bulk buyout bot
and lastly the transfer isnt instant but "over time"
combine these three together and bot trade fixers would need to run HUNDREDS of leveled up bots that have to spend portion of the time farming for gold to do what tehy currently can achieve with single lvl 1 account
@@Asghaad transfer isn't over time, you will wait until someone accepts your order, if someone accepts there is no waiting, you got that wrong but close enough with the other two
@@TripleAMF no you are mistaken here, there is no "accepting" in the system.
you set a rate at which you are willing to buy and the "NPC Broker" will OVER TIME pull goods from offers on the market that are within those parameters until the set amount you wanted is met - there is absolutely zero input from the seller, theyr offered goods will be automatically taken from theyr stash and delivered to the buyer
AT 3:30 in this very video you can see that in action as the order gets slowly filled up over time one tick at the time - whether there was set testing tick rate in the demonstration or this is the expected "speed" these will be fulfilled is not yet explained but it seemed as it was starting slowly then accelerating - first tick was 10, the next was 30 (so +20 or double of the previous value) the next was 60 (so +30 and again double of the previous value) at very regular intervals - first tick at 3:31, the second at 3:36 and the last at 3:41 at exactly 5 second intervals between each other

"early game currency rarity" whats that even supposed to mean?
god i hate parrots 😮💨
mostly to keep out easy access for bots
how? its like poe trade lol
@@clarkecorvo2692 i think that's supposed to mean to keep early game currency as rare drop in early game (alchemy orb is massive in league start for example)
@@Zaonnn alchemy orb really isn't massive though? You can't trade it for anything as the very early uniques are priced in chaos. Most builds don't care about the skill gems it unlocks until they get more sockets, which by then alchs are worthelss anyway. And alching random items is bad, you want items with good sockets then craft a resist on it (you can craft on normal items) or use essences for resists/life.
Bro. This is the one feature that if they take it away, it would be soul crushing for me. I exchange currency EVERY league, and dealing with bots on trade is beyond painful.
The bots are fine, if anything they're the only thing that's kept the economy moving for the past few years

Next thing would be to implement this when trading actual items, and not just currency.
This is so nice for trying to turn divines into chaos or stuff like oils and catalysts that were an absolute nightmare before. So happy to see this.
This is so beautiful I'm literally in tears

From a technical point of view It would be fantastic of GGG devs release a forum/blog post about how this was implemented onto your own engine, the approach and the planning etc... A lot of people who play PoE are engineers and they might appreciate the read up even if they have an idea on how this has been done. Anyways, thank you GGG team for the marvelous work.
I only hope they expand on this to include items as some point.
At least there is risk involved with that. Old system became the mess that it is now because there is almost no risk to price fixing.
At least the market supply will be higher than usual, since people can actually play the game and run maps instead of sitting in hideouts waiting for AFK traders!
This is amazing! I've wanted this for so long. Something that would be nice is to see your own gold balance somewhere in the UI in the Currency Exchange Market

Now the cherry on the sundae will be the POE 2 next character reveal being the templar, just to throw more mud on blizz xD
Best feature ever. You guys are amazing! I wonder how many people return to trade leagues from SSF just because of reduced trade friction?
Can you imagine ANY other ARPG putting this level of time and thought into their updates? I love this game.
This is one of the greatest changes in a long time. Hopefully we can expand on this and include gear as well one day.
wont happen without MASSIVE costs
gear opens the gates to a lot of flipping and market abuse, which is already possible but its so tedious that most players don't care to do it.
Probably not gear, but I'd like unstackable stuff like beasts and maps to be tradable on the market.
@@MyNameIsSaloit’s already confirmed for Poe 2. Useless comment 😂
@@xRetroCriticgear will happen eventually
This is going to revolutionize the game, seriously.
We haven't been asking for this for ages for nothing. We are in the future boys.

That's very likely. Shouldn't be much of a problem, just place this dude close to your stash.

You can add the guy to your hideout so this isn't an issue. just right click to fill as much as you can, deposit, and do it again.
This is a brilliant idea to make it available only during Settlers league instead of becoming core to check the feedback from players first
This is great but can we finally get something similar for items? Part of the reason I stopped playing the game is because of how tedious and time consuming trading for items is.
