Yup that’s the worst part. And porgies are a pain. But there are worse. I worked on a boat that we would go out in January in New England and use Mile long gill nets for monkfish. Nasty , finger taking off 25-40 lb fish. Spikes all over their back which makes them sometimes challenging to get out. Big mallet and wack to the head and then you can semi safely free them from the net. And then there’s all the other bycatch that would be in the net. Sharks dolphins. Lobsters (giant ones). Anything and everything basically. But the mini fish have their mouths open like a croc just waiting for something to cross the lost finger line.
When we were first trying to figure It out only had a 100' x12' deep. The first set we knew it wasn't enough. So I bought another one and tied em together. That's this net. Eventually we went to 200' x24'... then 300' x 24'.... The depth was more important!!
That was smart as heck who discovered this
nice work !
now comes the real work.... getting them out of there. Great vid
