Agreed. Although we need to get their fans hip to lyricism before we can get rid of mumble rap. What I'd like to see more of is lyrical rappers going hard on trap beats. Tech N9ne and King ISO been doing it for a minute. So is locksmith. I think that's how we bridge the gap and can eventually get rid of mumble rap all together. We just need some catchy hooks and dope lyrics in the verses. I know there's still a lot of boom bap fans, but I think they'd stick around as long as the lyricism is on point. And I'm also not saying not to keep making boom bap tracks either. But yeah I think if we could get more of these underground rappers with actual lyrical talent to spit on trap beats we would see exponential growth in underground hip hop and maybe we could even get rid of mainstream rap all together. I'm predicting in 20 years record labels will go the way of the dinosaur. You may see things like artists selling shares of partial ownership of songs. In fact this is going on already.
At the end of the day, we both want the same thing, mumble rap gone. I just happen to like the more modern sounding beats and I really think that beats alone could drive a lot of mumble rap fans the more lyrical shit.
