Great video! Nice shot at 11:12 of the Costas where I distinguished myself by slipping on a strap of my rucksack and falling flat on my face. Memories... and bruises.
Have you heard about the Northumberland Line that is now officially reopened and Northern are now using their trains to Ashington. With new railway stations to be added and some that do exist to be rebuilt.
I used to drive HST's from Neville Hill to Leeds City, then south from there. It's hard to describe the mass of lines as you head south from Leeds towards Wakefield Westgate, but what a climb it is up to Ardsley Tunnel. There was a local instruction in the 'sectional appendix' that stated "both power cars must be able to provide traction power for a train formed of HST coaching stock to be signaled towards Wakefield Westgate"
Another fantastic Vblog two great rides and great company from Jessica for u G. And good food even if you had to run off the train and finish it on Carlisle Station happy days as you would say! 😁🤗
I always love G loves trains. It is a fairly nice train compared to some other British trains. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas 🎄 and a Happy New Year 🎊
If only you get delay repay for those meals arriving late. I don't think many people can say that they have eaten Christmas dinner on a freezing cold station platform 😂 BTW a big thumbs up to Jessica's video and channel
Looked like a fun trip - I used to go by train up to Carlisle for work quite often, so it was nice to see the station again. Shame you had to finish your tea on the platform!
Another highly enoyable vlog with Jessica G and just a shame that did not recieve your meals earlier and had to take them with you and best wishes for Christmas & The New Year😀
i like the Nova 1 & 2 they are awesome trains & the food looks delicious & nice to see Jessica in this one as i watched her video too & she makes great content brilliant vlog as always
Thanks for the vlog G and Jessica, great fun shame the food was a bit late, but happen, eating on Carlisle station interesting but fun Merry Christmas or Happy Yule too you both!!🙂🚄🚄🚄🚄🇬🇧💚
Nice place to end a journey; the Citadel Railway Station of Carlisle, Cumbria. I've been there in 2018 on a holiday to Scotland. As far as I was able to discover, the actual station building dates from 1847, but the iron platform roof dates from 1881, but the rear span was demolished in 1958, but the front span still survives and is very pleasant when anyone would wait for the train. Let me wish you in advance a happy Christmas and all the best for the new year! Regards from Eindhoven, the Netherlands
What an algorithm - you were top of my viewing list! As a Yorkshireman living in Scotland - the Pennines are not mountains, they are Fells. I'm glad you recognised the roof at Carlisle wasn't Newcastle ha-ha!. Dave Draws is a freelance illustrator and map-designer based in Manchester - go and see him for a film suggestion ! Finally, I dare you to put "no knicker hooks" on a customer survey form. Thanks for the lovely film.
Bit late replying but glad you got to try some Christmas food even if you had to take it off the train, I imagine it would of been awkward if the train arrived on time and youd both gone and they bought it out after you left 😅 I honestly thought your place mate was a colouring sheet at first 😅
I’m following Jessica’s other video series on air accident investigations which is really good - I’m looking forward to seeing her doing a video about the Tuskar Rock disaster 😍😍😍
I do like a winter journey. Apparently TPE could have ordered more Class 802 Nova 1 and Class 397s Nova 2 since the Class 68 Mk5s Nova 3s were unreliable and TPE decided not to use them anymore.
How's about that? A mince pie! Lovely. Bit of a shame you got served so late on in the journey but had to laugh at how there was no way you were wasting that dinner!
Brilliant video G, I did have a ride on a Nova 1 but it was cut short by a major tresspassing incident. Honestly, how can you have a first class section with no knicker hook lol. The food does look nice though. :)
I think the problem is Transpennine Express need more staff in catering and first class. It took a long time for me to be served after I ordered when I used them in the summer, but then I realised it was just 1 person responsible for everyone's orders and requests. That's a lot on 1 person even if the 1st class section is kinda small. Compare it to LNER or even Avanti who has someone different for hot drinks, cold drinks, food and I think sometimes someone stayed in the small kitchen to prepare it all, so a big difference and easier to coordinate. The other problem is because TPE has 2 very different 1st classes on their trains as the rolling stock is very different depending on which route you take, which reflects our countries failure to electrify enough of the railway. I also wonder if they are still figuring things out as the West Coast Kitchen seems like a fairly new thing. Hopefully they figure out how to improve as the food was pretty good I thought, good variety on offer.
"nutles roast" - well... They sounds filthy😂 That, and "WILL YA SIGN MI MUG?"🤣🤣 Ah but Leeds, Leeds G! I was born in Leeds, and the station looks so different now to back in the 80s/90s BR used to own all the dark arches under the station,.my dad worked for BR too so, as a lad I got to see all the behind the scenes stuff - even the control room once or twice! Ah but the smell on the platform... The diesel, oil and grease! - sadly mostly all gone now ... No wonder I'm still obsessed with railways 30 years later 😂😂😂 Lovely video as always.
good old leeds old stoping grounds for me when i lived there last i was down in leeds nipping up to leeds Bradford airport didnt half seem weird cos i barely venture even down there from york
You should give Chippenham Wiltshire (where I'm from and live) to Paddington or Penzance. I'm a true train enthusiast. Perhaps one day stop by overnight at Chippenham and try going down to Penzance
If you ever wanna torture yourself have a try of the swanline! The only Swansea - Cardiff shuttle, always way too small, and stops in every suburb on the line between Swansea and Port Talbot, making 4 extra stops when normally just Neath! Another funny idea would be getting the train from Carmarthen to Aberystwyth, which isnt far, but with the trains they have to run via Birmingham! And 2 more ideas! I know youd make these hilarious Attempting to board a train (new train too so have to get off each time) a train in each of Cardiffs 20 or so stations in a day. And how quickly can the top 10 stations in areas be visited? Using the areas all the data maps would use. So say - Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cornwall, with Wales and Scotland being individual things it may be a challenge
Lol. I hear you about being Starstruck. I met a couple of RUclipsrs last year ... ToysAreRuss at the NEC toy fair, and Mahyar Tousi at a live event in London....and it does hit you a bit :D
Amazing video, I was on a TPE first class service to preston from Manchester airport, and when the host came around for orders after Manchester piccadilly, I asked her what can you get for someone getting off at Preston, and she pondered for for afew moments and Offered the regional breakfast, and prioritise me, was nervous but thank to a northern train we were delayed by 15 min so I got my food. Seems if you tell them you might get prioritised first for food.
Hi I have a question, do you know much about great northern trains? Are there any train conductors on the train checking peoples tickets? For example if I use my Oyster card how would they check that? (Assuming I’m gonna use my oyster)
Enjoyed both Jessica;s and your video. Pity TPE did not prioritize you, but it made for a great video see you both enjoying your meal in Carlisle station
I don't like sitting backwards on a train. I like sitting in the direction the train is travelling. Sometimes sitting backwards on a train makes me feel motion sick.
hey babe just watched your video for the first time going to subscribe to your channel + as you're a vegan please take B12 supplements you do not want B12 deficiency it is hell 🙏
@GLovesTrains I had a passion/obsession with trains when a kid... but was a 70s child so smelly old desiels did me... modern trains don't quite capture my imagination like them unfortunately 😕 but thereagain I enjoy supping a coffee and watching the world go by... on my bucket list is to take a long journey on a train one day, does not have to be luxury, just comfortable x

Oh yes plug sockets are very important!

Haha yes me peas were freezing when we got off the train 🤣. And agreed 👍👍👍
I used to be in Leeds Station a lot before moving to another area about 5 years ago. The front is looking so much more modern now!
