I know that You put those chords in that order to demo the song. I would have shown that finger pattern in alphabetical order; C-F-G-a. Then rearrange them. It's a confidence builder to see all those chords(key of C)that can be made w/the same finger shape(7?). Wonderful vid. TYSM!

I am a 61 year old male. Several years ago, I decided to purchase items that I was interested in that I might not be able to afford in my retirement years, so I would not be sitting around and just growing old. One of the items that I purchased was a yamaha DGX-660. I purchased it in 2017, put it on a stand with the bench, I covered it, and it sat there until about a week ago. I have no experience with playing any instrument, but I have always wanted to play the piano. I recently had a major back surgery that has prevented me from working, so I have lots of time on my hands. I have watched many utube videos in the last few days, and yours are among the ones that I like. Your channel is the one that I think will help me to learn to play. I have downloaded and printed several things that you have provided in your video descriptions. I appreciate the way that you teach. Thank you so much. I am from East Texas, and like you, my wife is a Georgia peach. Thank you again, and I'm looking forward to learning from you.

This is exactly how I felt! I had been doing all the things she says not to. No wonder after 30 years, I never stuck with it. I first loved a keyboard my grandparents had in the fun and games closet. One of those mid 80s one that has that feature you can turn burps into a song hahaha I am waiting for my keyboard in the mail (hopefully it’s not damaged) and this will be the 4th keyboard I’ve had in my life and I got the weighted keys! Anyway, I am so happy I found this gal! Cant wait to start!

I am 75 years old, and still have most of my marbles so I am capable of learning, but it’s much harder than it was. You go very fast and too fast for me so I have to take good notes. I just started watching you and I have attempted to learn the piano several times in the past, but never stayed with it, but I think that you may be the one who can help me. I am determined to learn, and I have been working on it by myself with those books, you talked about until now. Thank you and I do like the color!

Loving the lighting in here! I kicked off my keyboard journey last September with a simple 61-key, unweighted keyboard. Fast forward to now, and I’ve upgraded to a Roland FP-30X, complete with a stand and pedal board - it’s like my new sidekick! 😄
I’ve set some goals for myself and have been hitting the keys for at least an hour daily, working on scales, chords, and those Hanon exercises. Along the way, I’ve learned a few songs, one of which is the Passacaglia. I’ve enjoyed adding my own creative changes to it over time. While I’m a big fan of classical music, I find beauty in any piece that I hear on the piano.
I’ve been pretty consistent, playing every morning and night. Often, I find myself practicing even more. This whole experience has been like a rewarding cycle that just keeps getting better and better. 🎹🎶

Also, you want fully weighted, not semi weighted keys.
I started December 10th (after about a 5 year break from playing off and on for the last 20 years). I'm sticking to it this time and have logged 100+ hours since December 10th. I would say I'm pretty close to Breaking into the intermediate skill level. It does help that I have musical training from elementary school through college, but I learned on a trombone and started learning piano on my own when I was a teenager (very casually). I love it and am so excited to have music in my life again!!

I think the lighting is great, same goes for your piano space.
A next step, not so important, but a camera upgrade to something that records in 4k could be a next step.
I started learning the piano this January. And I’m so excited.
I do my very best to show up every day to practice at least an hour. Reading and practicing notes and sheet music. I am aware you are learning your students chords first and I get that, but my mindset is more towards the classical kind of piano playing as my favorite songs are more classical oriented.
    What do you think?
    Thanks for the video.
    All the best 😉

    Good morning Kathy,
    Love the lighting.
    Remind me of Halloween lights.
Marry doesn’t have her little lamb anymore.
I had it for dinner once
    I started watching your channel.
At first the little lamb was a little hard to swallow, but having it with a couple beers 🍺🍺
and practicing your lesson it when down just fine.
    😢😩
    So now it’s:
“Mary “had” a little lamb and the meat was tasty and good.
And wherever Mary went, the memories of her little lamb will follow her wherever she may go.”
    😢😩😭
Take Care and have a blessed week. 🙏🙏🙏

    1. Learn the Basic. It may seem obvious but start with the basics 2 . Set a practice schedule and stick with it Practice makes perfect . 3 . Try to find patterns . 4 . Apply to 80/20 principle 5 . Play slow in the beginning . 5 . Warm up before you practice . 6 . Practice music you enjoyed. 6 . Find a teacher .

I like the new setup and the levender color. And did you change the "height" of the camera as well? Amazing fine-tuning!
I have started by the end of February 2023 learning and practicing the piano. And I agree with you: Having set up the instrument in an environment that suits my "feel-good" helps a lot; the place is kind of more inviting, more confortable and feels kind of "at home" at home, if you get what I mean.
As for the schedule. As much as I try practicing on a daily basis, I also have accepted that sometimes even a week to two may be in order; it is very important, though, to consider this a break, and not a quitting! Having kid of an idea what you can do within 20-60 minutes helps a lot, too - especially if you have so many different "modules" that you can vary your practicing on a regular basis!

    • @pianoly
      @pianoly  5 месяцев назад

Thank you! Yes, I changed the height, but it was actually because I left my other tripod at my music school and had to make due with this one... it turned out good and I liked the angle too!
As long as you keep going and don't stop - you will succeed!
