I remember when I used to listen to this song being 22 and thought "that's glamorously tragic". I'm nearly 30 now and it's not glamorous anymore. Just tragic. I feel ya, Lily.
Yep No Shame is her best album fight me she's still got it. she's not afraid to always say what she's thinking to her audience and share her most inner feelings with everyone.
I'm at 33 now laughing at myself for taking this song so seriously when I was younger. Very, very single for several years now, learning to go easier on myself and not beat myself over the head with society's preformed expectations. I've met some great people whom I love in different ways. I refuse to settle for any partner who doesn't meet me halfway again. I also need to work on myself, and I'm fine with that. Lily seems to think better of herself in some of her later songs, too. I swear to god, I promise, life does not end at 30 and you don't have to whip yourself with mean girl words and expectations when you can find friends you love and spend some time with them instead. Get a fun hobby. Get what job works best for you right now and find other things to take pride in. Not all of us get that 'sense of purpose' or 'pride' from a career and that is fine either way.
listening this after Taylor's 22. Taylor sings about how amazing life is with 22 years, and Lily sings about how everything stared going wrong after 22. Listening one after the other, sounds like a dream wich turns in a nightmare
TONA LONG Lily is a British singer so incredible and outstanding in the United Kingdom. Considered the bad girl of British pop. Taylor is a copy of the atinguas singers of his country. Taylor is no longer original, because she lives copying Britney Spears. Taylor must stay away from pop and return to the country genre. That works out well. Also, you can not compare Taylor with Lily. Lily is much better.
keep on hating bitches...taylor is wayy more successful than lily. she's written and co written every song on her albums and has done a lot of meaningful charity work. Everyone has a different experience of life. Bringing someone up by tearing the other person down is not a sign of intelligence.
I love her, her lyrics actually mean something and she stands up for what she believes. How can anyone deny that she's entirely unique in the world of fame?
I have loved Lily since I was a teenager. From his first song "Smile". She is one of the great exponents and highly respected singers of the United Kingdom, and considered the bad girl of pop. LiLy is great. Her lyrics are intense and true.
When I found this song 10 years ago, I was 14 and I thought to myself: I have sooooo much time in front of me, I am gonna build the perfect life. Wtf is this song talking about? I am gonna rock in my 20's! Fast forward to now: I am 24 and everyday I wake up feeling I haven't seen/acomplished anything important, I still haven't figure out who I truly am and feel like don't know sh*t about this world... It's funny how arrogant I was back then. Adulthood is so much harder than I expected it to be and I was such an idiot for rushing into becoming an adult.
@Alyssa Graves You're 23. No reason for pessimism. Chill. That's the period of suck. You're thrown into an adult life, and you start running into things that school never trained you for. Take your time. Play the cards you've been dealt. Don't be lazy, don't postpone activities, finish an education in a field with a future, and work in a place where you can grow. Once you're in the groove of working and planning your life, you'll see that adulthood is actually pretty damn cool and most of the time very easy. :)
Ive just turned 22 and I feel the same. My future does not look bright, I am not at my happiest, the world is messed up. But at least not alone in the feeling.
i just love how this song mocks society's idea of what a woman's life should be - while showing how someone can really suffer from it, plus indirectly stating that she couldn't change but is not strong enough to do it. It's just so raw and ironic.
I don't see any mocking at all....this is literally depicting the problem with modern women.....they want their cake and to eat it too. Reality, Menopause, and the Wall disagree. Women waste their youth sleeping around and/or pursing a deeply time consuming career, by the time they are in their 30s they are well on there way to becoming cat ladies writing articles about how they wasted their youth or worse - claiming they are "self partnered" like Emma Watson just did. I think this entire song /whooshed over your head.
@@Shyhalu ure clearly missing the point of this song lol. ure mentality about what women should do with their lives and you're idea of what women think when they turn 30 is exactly what lily is criticizing in society.
@@Shyhalu the basis of her lyrics is literally about society's expectations and double standard of women, exactly like the type of things u said. In the video, she clearly shows how women are too desperate to look pretty...probably insecure about their looks, anxious about aging because God forbid as a female u have a wrinkle or hairy legs or ur make up is out of place. And they're so insecure because society keeps pushing the need to look attractive at all times because as a female, u should be in a relationship and attract a life partner quickly. U mention how women often feel frustrated by the time they're thirty: but they aren't frustrated because of majorly chasing their careers, they are frustrated with the unnecessary pressures of society.
When this came out I was too young to understand lyrics, but listening back I am totally convinced Lily Allen is the most badass and truthful popsinger that was out there and still is. She just says how it is, criticizing society and people who do wrong... she’s intellgent, talented and gorgeous! Love her
Because society's traditional view of women was correct. Even when they attempt to act the way previous feminist generations have, it's not fulfilling. It's as if all the old, unmarried cat women told their nieces that they should go to college and climb the career ladder like they did because their misery wants company. No man wants a woman that makes more than him or refuses to be submissive and work in the home. Modern society has lied to all women, telling them to party, be 'that girl' and sleep around on the pill (no consequences, all fun!), and I feel bad for them. Millennial women have finally started to realize how their eggs were numbered, their sex appeal peaked at 16, and men will always seek those who are youthful and new. It's never to late to change how you think but whoever you choose to be, your past is right behind you. This song, ironically, is a warning to women not to party their youth away but, alas, no one picked up on it.
@@miss.b618 Would it make you feel any better if I said it was closer to 20? Does that change your situation? It doesn't. Older women are so full of hatred, but I get it, you were lied to by mature women who sounded like they were happy but merely wanted you to join their suffering. Traditional roles were and will always be the most ideal for both women and men. Get over it.
darpa gluma I love how you speak to me as if you know my life and my influences, and generalize women. It just proves your close minded ness. I hope you have a good life dude ✌🏼
Your life is not over at 30. That's just some nonsense. Lily Allen is very pretty and she can sing, but holy heck are her songs just absolute trash! Honestly, songwriting in general has really gone down the tubes. Don't build your life around media messaging. Heck, the Jews are basically ready to put a cancer cure on the market. There's no way your life is over!
The video gets so powerful at 1:35 when it becomes the song becomes for and about every woman and sung by every woman in the video. Amazing convergence of song storytelling and visual storytelling.
"It's not me, it's you" was an out of its time album. When no one talked about themes like feminism and homophobia, Lily was doing it genially and with a lot of sarcasm.
I am 30, this song came out when I was 22 and was my favorite song. It was my biggest fear that life is over. I still have no 'carreer' and relationship but I am working on it and I never felt so free and open to the world that is ahead of me at 30, trust me your life just begins... (not an age to worry about anything, that is 40.). I say this because if you have these expectations you might come out the fase bad and bedazzled.. think about all these 20 somethings that didn't really enjoy their lives. that is sad.
Your point is exactly why I disliked this song, well life isn't really about our age or career even it's all how happy we are no-one can't tell a woman her life is over if she is 30 and single (I think 30 is young to marrying)
elif çağla kurt : I agree. 30 or more is still the time to enjoy life. I don't think the tradition of "30 getting married" is always good. We can't force anyone to love us while they're not compatible.
Desiree Heremaia I wrote a song called Darling, please explain this...overestimated feeling by ninanile. I hope you'll check it out and let me know what you think. I'd really appreciate it if you'd share this and subscribe to my channel :')
I think when you are in your 30s you are happier, more confident and have realized that no matter what society says, it's your life and you are gonna live it.
@Jan Callaby are you stupid or something? Sexuality isn't something that's easy for women. Either you don't know anything, or you've never heard anything about women. They go through very tough times because of their sex. They are always looked down upon, and oddly I hate men for the moment.
When I listened to this back when I was 22, I found the song cute...fast forward to present day, 27 now, had my one and only serious relationship that ended up being physically and mentally tormenting, this song makes me feel quite depressed.
Koi , give it time. I thought I was washed up at age 27, but at age 31, everything started looking up for me and has gotten better for the last 20 years, a few minor set backs, not withstanding. Keep your chin up and keep moving forward. Assume good things will come, and they will.
I first heard this song when I was 22--and I'm nearly 30 now... I've been luckier than the girl in this song. I traveled a lot in my twenties and even found a lovely man, recently. Although, I am looking forward to my thirties, I do, sometimes, feel trapped by the way society tends to over-value young women and teach women that, as their youth fades they are worth less. Luckily, that is slowly changing and will, I hope, continue to do so.
Could be worse. Men aren't worth jack untill they get themselves together. This is what makes our later years so good though, being forced to either develope yourself or to be cast aside. If we had it this easy in our early 20s, most of us would be failures.
Thank you for this comment. I'll be 22 in a few months and I even cried before going to bed another day thinking about this song. I mean I love this song since I was a kid but now that I'm turning 22 I feel afraid.
@@carolgarcia5243 there's nothing to fear. Everybody gets old. Don't compare your life to the social expectations that try to out everyone's life on a timeframe. Be yourself and love yourself and you will be happy. Do what you love.
My friend and I used to listen to ur album 'its not me its you' classic on our way to a shopping spree in Tudor Chester. Made my day. Come on Lilly squeeze another album out xxx
Rachel Behik I think is the other way round in the end though im not sure, hence the younger lily changing her mind and walking out in the end, after seeing what she'd become. She's singing in the third person to so personally, i reckon its about her future self
Rachel Behik That's an interesting way to look at it. I always thought lily was seeing herself in the mirror the way she always thought she'd be at this age, which would explain the weird fantasy guy coming and sweeping her off her feet, and the mirror lily walking out at the end was like that dream slipping through her fingers.
I always liked to imagine through the song it's her clubbing self looking at what she wants to be and at the end it's her becoming what she wanted to be and walking away from her old self
I literally think of this song when I am in the bathroom every time I am with other girls putting makeup on. I think about how much society puts a mask on all women and how the many relationships tear us to bits and shreds, how we always hope for that one guy that can make the difference for us but always get slapped around in the face and become inner messes. It just makes so much sense from one song. And the sad truth is that Lilly Ellen is so right because in the end we are so individual that it doesn't matter if we get picked up and thrown over "his" shoulder. Even if that one guy comes along, walls have been so put up we don't know what to believe is true any more
That's all good an all, but when the nice guy does come along he gets friend zoned.. so they only got their self to blame in some cases choosing the wrong guy.
runbuddyboy I think a lot of "nice" guys are actually douches though. They're just a different brand of asshole than the obvious jerks. The key is to be a genuinely good person.
eaux kei I agree. They only are "nice guys" cuz they WANT something. Also, when they are actually nice, they have an ego about it the size of Texas, like "oh, look at me, I'm Mr. Wonderful!"
Brittany Toth Haha yes! This is true and I've seen this with a couple of "nice" guys I fell for in the past. Their big egos about being nice are pretty ironic.
I kind of agree with everything said in this thread. And the women who buck the pressure and the mask or refuse to put up with douchebags or douchebags in drag as nice guys are branded freaks and spinsters. Like having self respect, self worth and knowing we don't deserve to be treated like shit simply because we happen to have a vagina is just completely unacceptable. But I also think- that's our world, it's a man' s world and ain't shit gonna change it. White men have always exploited everyone else and seem pretty good at ensuring they continue to do so (but hey maybe I'm defeatist lol).
Listening to it when I was 22 and thinking "ah can't be that bad"... Now with 29 and turning 30 later this year, this brings me to tears... So relatable
This song really resonates with me because, right now in my life, I'm stuck in a rut and am trying so desperately to find a job. I'm doing okhay at University, but the fear of having a mediocre life really gets to me as growing up I wanted to be a successful country singer and had all these big dreams. Hope things work out and the fates shine upon me :(
LucaTheApe Lol, ur words have really uplifted me. Thank you kind stranger! I'm learning a lot in life now. Not to care about people's vicious thoughts, to persevere, to fight for my dreams and dignity etc. I'm very grateful for all the blessings in my life and i will work like a dog if need be to realize my destiny. Hope you have a successful year ahead.Best Regards, Chan :D
+Chan It's simple in life.. want something to happen? Don't wait for it to somehow happen as it wont, just go and make it happen. Of course there's always a chance you'll fail, for example if you want to be a singer but don't have a voice for it then you can realize it's impossible and come up with a new dream. But in any case it's all about being active and working to make something happen, not being passive and waiting for it. At 21 though, there's a long road ahead of you (26 here) so use that time well.
razamspaz I know what you mean. Yeah I'll try to be happy doing a desk job or sumthng. But I'll give my dreams a go for a some reasonable time. If it doesn't work out, I'll have a 2.1 degree in Law to fall back on anyway :D
I think she’s seriously so underrated because of the bad will the general public seems to have about her because she’s outspoken. I personally love her and think she’s a fantastic songwriter. Her album no shame is flawless and so confessional.
I am 35 today and my life didn’t start until I was 30. I was a late bloomer in life and found a hidden talent with running when I started at age 30. It transformed my life for the better- I lost 40 lbs and became an elite runner. My husband and I also moved to the place of our dreams and our careers took off. I was so depressed in my 20s. It’s really what you make of it.

When i first heard this when I was 22, I got scared of turning 30. Now I am 32, but no regrets! I travelled a lot, dated lots of guys, worked in different jobs, got 2 Bachelors and a Master, learned 3 languages, did all I wanted to do and more. And when i was living in another country in 2018, when I wasn't even looking, I met the love of my life. I love my age and I am grateful for all the experiences I had. I believe women are changing society's expectations nowadays, things are getting better in that sense. I might be an elderly millenial, but I still have so much to live and experience that i have been enjoying every step of getting older ❤ Its just a number!
@@user-ly3li3ex8c hi! I am not sure what is the "top quality desirable men", but I guess people feel and think differently, and that's ok. I just wanted to share, in case some young women is scared like I was. I believe there's a lot to look forward to in life than just feeling awful because of a number. And that is why this song is amazing, it is a great critique. ☺
@@lc4174 Men value youth, beauty and fertility (related to youth). The highest valued men can get their pickings, so they'll go after the women with the greatest of these qualities and sort from there for things like character, etc. just like everyone else. With everything else being equal, they will value a 25 year old over a 35 year old woman, and especially compared to a 40 year old woman. Age fades beauty and fertility too, a younger woman stays better looking for longer. If he wants kids, especially a lot of them, that's all the more reason he'll look for a woman in her mid 20's or younger. With a younger woman, he can take more time to enjoy life with her before children unlike a 30+ year old who wants to settle down and have kids ASAP unless they're childfree.
This is and forever will be one of the only songs that I can truly relate to, lily is underrated and it’s sad, glad she finally found someone to settle down with, I wish her all the best in the future
Life's actually a lot better on the other side of 30. You know yourself better and are more comfortable in your own skin. You're much less paralyzed by insecurity (or at least should be) and care so much less about the opinion of others. You've lived some life, had some joy and disappointments. You probably still have a lot of years left but you've gained some wisdom, perspective and maturity to enjoy those years more.
+zyxwut321 Yes but you're a fucking MAN ffs! That's the point of the song. A man at 30 has the world at his feet if he has played his cards right with work and career and no debt and hasn't settled down. His SMV is at its peak (look it up). A woman at 30 is on the way down so she needs to find a decent man when she is young and pretty and not waste her time with players and ONS.
+Mike Hurwitz A lot of women have chosen male pen names to be published. Louisa May Alcott wrote Little Women under the pen name A. M. Barnard, Mary Ann Evans published her works as George Eliot, Alice Bradley Sheldon wrote science fiction novels as James Tiptree and won several awards, Charlotte Bronte wrote Jane Eyrie as Currer Bell, Emily Bronte wrote Wuthering Heights as Ellis Bell, Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin wrote Indiana using the pen name George Sand, Nelle Harper Lee managed to publish To Kill A Mockingbird under the name Haper Lee, and even Joanne Rowling decided to publish the famous Harry Potter series under the more androgynous J.K. Rowling. There are plenty of intelligent female authors that were so 'logical' they knew that if they used their own name men like you would see them as female and therefore not worthy of listening to. They used pen names to beat the system, and some are still confused for men today. Just imagine all of the great female writers who chose female pen names and were overlooked, as so many of these writers were before coming to the realization that they were rejected by publishers simply because of their gender. The reason you can count 'great female authors on one hand' is because someone like you knows nothing about the literary world, and would rather live in a false reality than accept the truth that 50% of the population is not lower than you on a scale of intellectual ability. Do some research, do some basic high school level reading, you cannot judge someone's logical ability when you are unable to produce a logical argument yourself.
Omg, my mom was watching a movie and “Smile” was playing on the background of a scene and i thought to myself “wow i haven’t heard any Lily Allen songs lately” and came running and just stumbled to this song i completely had forgotten about. I listened to it when i was 14-15 and now im 24 damn, it makes me feel nostalgic and sad
I was literally 22 when this song come out, and after all these years of working, dealing with the assholes in your works, been through the up and down of relationships, hearing this song is really bring me to tears...
Man...seeing all these comments about people being disappointed about their lives, saying that time goes by so fast, and that growing old sucks makes me really nervous to get older. Why can’t people just appreciate that everyone lives different lives, and just because you might not have followed society’s “life-plan”, doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
When i was 21/22 i heard this song and looked at the comments of women saying how this song is so right and how it hits hard when you are close to 30 so i was so scared of getting older but i'm 26 soon to be 27 in two months and i don't feel like that at all. Thank god. I love my life this songs is still such a bop
this was my favorite song when i was like 8 or 9 and now i'm 15 and just found it again. It's funny because I never understood the stuff about one night stands.
This song came out when I was just a kid and I loved it. Now im close to 30 and I'm so glad that the dialogue for women is changing. No longer do me or my friends care about having the perfect job, a man, or getting married. none of us can afford things like houses, kids, babies, etc., and honestly, I tapped out of what society has expected of me because the things it promised me it can no longer deliver, so why should I do the same for it? . It's freeing in a way. I have my hobbies, my friends, family and the only thing i truly want is to travel and see more of the world!
But they're all from the same album. Why the fuck do you consider than some of the sheezus songs are old and the others aren't. I mean, everyone in the fucking world intime the songs by the album release.
dear lily, I don't know what are you saying in your songs but you are like my older sister and giving advice to me about everything. I think you are my mystery friend. and I know I can trust you everytime
When she was 22 the future looked bright But she's nearly 30 now and she's out every night I see that look in her face, she's got that look in her eye She's thinking how did I get here and wondering why It's sad but it's true how society says her life is already over There's nothing to do and there's nothing to say 'Til the man of her dreams comes along Picks her up and puts her over his shoulder It seems so unlikely in this day and age She's got an alright job but it's not a career Whenever she thinks about it, it brings her to tears 'Cause all she wants is a boyfriend, she gets one night stands She's thinking how did I get here, I'm doing all that I can It's sad but it's true how society says her life is already over There's nothing to do and there's nothing to say 'Til the man of her dreams comes along Picks her up and puts her over his shoulder It seems so unlikely in this day and age It's sad but it's true how society says her life is already over There's nothing to do and there's nothing to say 'Til the man of her dreams comes along Picks her up and puts her over his shoulder It seems so unlikely in this day and age

This might have been released in 2009 but the story still stands. a woman can make great life choices be very successful but could still be looked down upon because she isn't "complete" without some sort of relationship. this maybe the 21st century but people still idealise the white picket fence lifestyle

I love the songs like this from childhood but I get a really weird feeling whenever I hear them now as a 17 year old acctually listening to the lyrics and not just dancing. It scares me how life has changed so much in only a few years. Like whats life gonna be like in a few more years? It genuinely scares me ♡
I'm 18 and what I'm finding is that while responsibility and change happens faster as you move into adulthood on the flip side you have more control now than ever before as to how your life actually turns out. It's a double edged sword.

I´m 16 and I already think that way, still trying to make myself believe that someday I will do something :(

@@capricedewhurst7153 You missed the point of the song. She is reminiscing about when she was 22.
i just love how this song mocks society's idea of what a woman's life should be - while showing how someone can really suffer from it, plus indirectly stating that she couldn't change but is not strong enough to do it. It's just so raw and ironic.
Drag Race Versus well said!
@@mutedaddy Where is the criticism? By all means quote the lyrics instead of projecting.
Lily Allen, the world needs you, please come back!

When this came out I was too young to understand lyrics, but listening back I am totally convinced Lily Allen is the most badass and truthful popsinger that was out there and still is. She just says how it is, criticizing society and people who do wrong... she’s intellgent, talented and gorgeous! Love her
Strange how 10 years can change the mood of this song for a person. Just turned 25 and I feel stuck
This song, ironically, is a warning to women not to party their youth away but, alas, no one picked up on it.
darpa gluma yeah I’m not gonna sit here and listen to someone preach about how women peaked at 16 lmaoooo be gone perv
@@miss.b618 And you continue to act as if you're leaving the conversation because confronting these issues makes you uncomfortable.

Her life is already over.
That's the part when I relate so much and can't stop crying
Same here. How old are you?
Leon Au if your still struggling, it’s never too late to start over.
Lmao
Your life is not over at 30. That's just some nonsense. Lily Allen is very pretty and she can sing, but holy heck are her songs just absolute trash! Honestly, songwriting in general has really gone down the tubes. Don't build your life around media messaging. Heck, the Jews are basically ready to put a cancer cure on the market. There's no way your life is over!
Shirin i think the point of her lyrics is to show how absurdely sad it is to think that way
The video gets so powerful at 1:35 when it becomes the song becomes for and about every woman and sung by every woman in the video. Amazing convergence of song storytelling and visual storytelling.
"It's not me, it's you" was an out of its time album. When no one talked about themes like feminism and homophobia, Lily was doing it genially and with a lot of sarcasm.
When have they ever NOT been talking about feminism and homophobia? It’s been constantly a topic since the 1970’s.
This song came out 6 years ago so either you're not 30 or you weren't 22 at the time.

Whatever " All she wants is a boyfriend" the woman is feeling lonely . All she needs is a big devoted doggy . Much better than a having a husband imo.

@Jan Callaby are you stupid or something? Sexuality isn't something that's easy for women. Either you don't know anything, or you've never heard anything about women. They go through very tough times because of their sex. They are always looked down upon, and oddly I hate men for the moment.
Mark Fanter Lol you're funny. How old are you?
When I listened to this back when I was 22, I found the song cute...fast forward to present day, 27 now, had my one and only serious relationship that ended up being physically and mentally tormenting, this song makes me feel quite depressed.
Things always could be better for you Koi. Love yourself :)
Koi it is never too late and It is Just a song and you're still in your 20's be Nice to yourself
Koi , give it time. I thought I was washed up at age 27, but at age 31, everything started looking up for me and has gotten better for the last 20 years, a few minor set backs, not withstanding. Keep your chin up and keep moving forward. Assume good things will come, and they will.
do not be depressed, be a woman, there are plenty more fish in the sea,
Totally related but it will get better i promise
You’re amazing. Thank u for this.

This is probably my favorite song of Lily's.
The tune and the message really resonate with me.
My friend and I used to listen to ur album 'its not me its you' classic on our way to a shopping spree in Tudor Chester. Made my day. Come on Lilly squeeze another album out xxx
I just realised that when they are looking in the mirror, they are seeing the younger and more neat version of themselves. Nice Lily!
Rachel Behik I think is the other way round in the end though im not sure, hence the younger lily changing her mind and walking out in the end, after seeing what she'd become. She's singing in the third person to so personally, i reckon its about her future self
Rachel Behik lol i just thought it was about looking rough when drunk pmsl
Rachel Behik That's an interesting way to look at it. I always thought lily was seeing herself in the mirror the way she always thought she'd be at this age, which would explain the weird fantasy guy coming and sweeping her off her feet, and the mirror lily walking out at the end was like that dream slipping through her fingers.
I always liked to imagine through the song it's her clubbing self looking at what she wants to be and at the end it's her becoming what she wanted to be and walking away from her old self
@PedroFTW that's what I always thought too, she enters the bathroom all young and messy and then leaves when she's older and has her life together

It's sad when you'll think that the song was a warning... that nobody listened to.
Right 😢
I literally think of this song when I am in the bathroom every time I am with other girls putting makeup on. Even if that one guy comes along, walls have been so put up we don't know what to believe is true any more
That's all good an all, but when the nice guy does come along he gets friend zoned.. so they only got their self to blame in some cases choosing the wrong guy.
runbuddyboy
I think a lot of "nice" guys are actually douches though. They're just a different brand of asshole than the obvious jerks. The key is to be a genuinely good person.
eaux kei
I agree. They only are "nice guys" cuz they WANT something. Also, when they are actually nice, they have an ego about it the size of Texas, like "oh, look at me, I'm Mr. Wonderful!"
Brittany Toth
Haha yes!
Hope you have a successful year ahead.Best Regards, Chan :D
omg! why does everyone think im a girl!!!! Im actually a 21 year old man hahah
+Chan When you strive for perfection, you discover it's a moving target. Be happy with the cards you were given and make the most of them :)
razamspaz I know what you mean.

Lily is a British singer so incredible and outstanding in the United Kingdom. Considered the bad girl of British pop. Taylor is a copy of the atinguas singers of his country.

@A 😭 depressing here
This is and forever will be one of the only songs that I can truly relate to, lily is underrated and it’s sad, glad she finally found someone to settle down with, I wish her all the best in the future
That is a wise man
zyxwut321 yeah and get stubborn

The song's about a woman who's almost thirty looking back on when she was 22, but I bet most 22 year olds these days actually feel like this.

Eu com 30 ouvindo e rindo respeitosamente de minha versão jovem.
Mulheres, empoderem-se !
Lilly vc é gigante, o Brasil ama vc!!
Concordo plenamente 👍💙
mds 15 anos 😢 lembro como se fosse hj essa pedrada estreando na MTV
my fav Lily song I think - really nice and kinda pure. She's such a star :)
Ha dez anos atrás eu via esse clipe na MTV. Hoje, após um dia com 22 anos, consigo te entender Lily 💕
When she was 22 the future looked bright
But she's nearly 30 now and she's out every night
I see that look in her face, she's got that look in her eye
She's thinking how did I get here and wondering why
It's sad but it's true how society says her life is already over
There's nothing to do and there's nothing to say
'Til the man of her dreams comes along
Picks her up and puts her over his shoulder
It seems so unlikely in this day and age
She's got an alright job but it's not a career
Whenever she thinks about it, it brings her to tears
'Cause all she wants is a boyfriend, she gets one night stands
She's thinking how did I get here, I'm doing all that I can
It's sad but it's true how society says her life is already over
There's nothing to do and there's nothing to say
'Til the man of her dreams comes along
Picks her up and puts her over his shoulder
It seems so unlikely in this day and age
It's sad but it's true how society says her life is already over
There's nothing to do and there's nothing to say
'Til the man of her dreams comes along
Picks her up and puts her over his shoulder
It seems so unlikely in this day and age
Magnifique j'adore comme chanteuse préférée super elle chante très bien Liliy elen magnifique j'adore comme chanteuse préférée super magnifique j'adore 😀😃🤩😍🙂😃😀🙂
this is a realisation song. we've all gone through being 22. and as the time progresses, the little by little, were losing youth. this really hits hard.
For all you single ladies out there, I felt like this and hit rock bottom but kept working on myself and relationship skills and met my loving fiancé only a couple years after wanting to die. Now I’m happier than I could have ever dreamed! #DontStopBelieving ❤️
You are still making it seem like women are incomplete until they find a man
I feel you, I am on the “prince charming group” and I’m 40, wtf
This might have been released in 2009 but the story still stands. a woman can make great life choices be very successful but could still be looked down upon because she isn't "complete" without some sort of relationship. this maybe the 21st century but people still idealise the white picket fence lifestyle
Lily Allen, the mistress of honesty.
I'm 18yo now, 2020. I have so many dreams, get in college, in 5 years get a apartment, go to New York... I'll update this when I turn 22, and then 28... let's see how it goes
Edit 1: today it's my birthday, july 12th 2021, I'm 19yo. I'm not in college, I don't have a car, still living with my parents, and life kinda sucks. But I have found the absolutely love of my life, he's the best, I love him.
I just turned 18 aswell if you are in the northern hemisphere you should of already have gotten into college now. Have you?
@@NorthRoyalton Not yet :/ I'm from Brazil and we're still in lockdown, colleges are still using distance learning, and I choose wait until all this mess go away
Update?
@@apprianegrete8383 She got covid and her life wasn't the same afterwards
Seriously? At 19, literally a teen complaining how ‘life sucks’ lol ok
You know what scares me? That people are generally smarter now, than they were few decades ago and they aren't happier. Instincts are the same but we are more aware of all kinds of crap. And we are not happier with this knolwedge. Thant scares me :/ maybe not only knowledge is an answer?
This song is my life literally.
Love so much this song, still makes tears go out and sing.
Girlies to age is but a blessing, embrace it 🥰 some girlies never even reach 22!
this song was released when i was 15... i always listen to it since then, and every year it brings me some thoughts... i'm finally almost 30, this hits hard.
i remember listening this song when i was 14, and i was already disppointed in so many aspects. now i'm 20 and I am still scared haha

Love Lily's hair in this video, just gorgeous.
Love it has so much meaning to it
This song, these lyrics, are brilliant! So much truth in her words and, while the song is really catchy, the lyrics themselves are insightful :)
I'm 22 listening to this. Love Lily and yeah I feel this because my life feels pretty much down hill from here.
Lily can really sing, she knows how to sing and is quite likeable and honest.
