Instead of using that black piece of plastic to collect the gold and poor off water, it's more efficient to poor the panned gold/water through 1-2 paper coffee filters stacked in a strainer atop a glass beaker. You can rinse the pan multiple times through the filters. Then dry the filters/gold remnants with heat. Then place filters containing gold into a crucible of adequate size. Then burn till only gold is left. Add baking powder and melt gold into gold button.
I have a lot of pyrite intertwined with granite and also accompanying quartz. If it is real, I will start experimenting. Thank you very much. You are really wonderful.
I reccomend you swap that first borax for sodium bicarbonate. (Commonly sold as baking soda) Borax tends to lift off before turning glassy and spread around crucible, making you wonder if gold particles are going with it. Sprinkle baking soda instead and start heating crucible for a couple seconds from the side. The heat will make it a "gold powder cookie" before direct flame strength can send it flying.

yes there are special reason, to break down pyrite if present to turn small particle, and all small particle of gold are completely extract from other menirals cemented on the surface.
