Your lucky mine used to make the decisions give the orders, this was great when he was right and a war when he wasn't, though according to him he was right even when he was wrong. LOL, he taught me a lot when I would listen.
Nice welding man. Stuff like this might always seem like a set back but the ability to take the time to make those revisions is probably the greatest quality of a real builder.

Bummer about the crossmember, it was so nice,. Kind of how I pictured I would have done it (when you made the first one). Hope you can keep a similar design with the new one. Great work!

Those interested in this maybe be interested in a couple of other builders I follow here in the UK. Check them out. I will be recommending this guy on their sites. 1. Is URCHFAB another take on a car build where he has taken an old 1950's UK Ford pop and mates it to a Mazda MX5. 2. The other ON YER BIKE is a guy Craig who builds bikes, usually, Bobbers using Royal Enfields from India but has used Brit bikes and has Paul and Blue to keep him back. You may need subtitles for both. You need to take into consideration building specials is so much more expensive here in the UK i.e. cost of donors and tools and disposable incomes generally lower.
I like watching your channel grow! Nice job on the frame. It was sad seeing you chop that cross member that you put in. Work down the drain but you have to do what makes you happy.
Very nice work. I thought that you were using awfully heavy material when you made the cross member in a previous vid. I probably would have too! It takes patience to correct that sort of thing rather than just leave it as is, but it will be worth it in the end. Thanks for sharing.
I´m guessing its to prevent cracking for when the metal expands and contracts. Its a very important weld afterall that you dont want failing at any point. So he heats up the piece to bring it to temprature, welds it, and while the weld cools down the entire assembly cools down at more or less the same rate, staying together.
You know Sir that the Indianapolis 500 is coming in May. Do you think that you could make a parade lap in that new car?? LOL. That would be nice though. Was going to ask when are you going to put the aluminum on the body. But I know you would say "stay tuned" LOL. Great build as always. Take car man.

a while back i seen a lot of design drawings for 40's racecars on pinterest , and found a good video on youtube about schrinking and stretching metal tried to find youre channel to put the links on but couldnt remember wish channel it was , i now lost the link to the pinterest page and the youtube vid unfortunately about preheating the metal before welding : i wonder if the paintstripper is efficient enough in the short time youre using it to heat that large piece of the frame , when i worked at a company where they did a lot of welding the had some contact heaters they clamped ontoo the metal to heat it up , think sumting like that would work better in youre case too

You got to get yourself a sawzall or plasma cutter. Lol. Was it that cold that you had to preheat the front crossmember before you Tig welded it ? Keep on Truckin with this. It's really enjoyable to watch.

As seen here, a lot of re--thinking time was spent on some sort of seat or the other. and the decision was made that the build wasn't exactly what was envisioned.. A note to all artist, don't be afraid to throw out the bad wine and start anew if that's what it takes.to get it right. JD
Great stuff! I like you're Videos very much, but one thing that keeps annoying me is the sound while time lapse. The problem is that the sound is often faster or slower than the actual footage. Would you consider changing that problem in the future?

Just curious about the "heat gun" associated with the TIG welds? I could guess, but I'd rather hear why. Looking awesome though, Thanks for sharing.

tig welding gives a much nicer finish, and is a lot cleaner than mig

Hi, What is the purpose of heating the steel before TIG welding ? Does it make the weld flow better?
It was about 30 degrees outside, so I was worried about the weld cracking if it cooled too fast
This may be a stupid question but when you use the heat gun after each weld, is that related to tempering the metal?
It was really cold outside where I was welding, so I preheated it to try to stop any cracks from forming

the reason is because some parts of the video are filmed in time lapse which doesn't record audio, so I paste in audio that's similar
get a harbor freight sawzall, they're pretty cheap. Cool build!
I have one, but it's not the best for any cut that has to be accurate
@@MacroMachines Agreed, sawzalls are +- 3" on their cuts, especially the ones with the quick change chucks. Talk about blade wobble!!! hehe
