  • Sattal Reserve Forest in Uttarakhand, India is not only a heaven for birds but also a haven for Bird watchers and nature enthusiasts alike. Exotic bird species such as Long Tailed Broadbill, Brown Wood Owl, Chestnut Headed Tesia etc, trees such as Banj Oak, Rhododandrum, Kafal are found here. Sattal has an abundance of greenery, life, and a beautiful soothing view from the tired eyes.
A place so rich in every manner is under the threat of development and recreation. Know all about it through the words of Aagnay Budhraja, a resident of Sattal (Surya Gaon) and a member of 'Sattal Conservation Club' himself who has filed an RTI to know about the developmental ventures. We all stand in support of the locals as well as the environment and have constantly been seeking information that we have failed to receive in any form.
Lend your support in whichever manner possible. Here's the link to the petition you can sign into- www.change.org.... More the number of signatures, more pressurizing it will be on the officials to release the information.
You can visit the Instagram account of the Sattal conservation club for more information and updates on the issue- ....

Brilliantly said by Aagnay, and captured by Paras - thank you for throwing light on an issue that would otherwise go unnoticed

Hi Paras, we are natives of Nainital town, we've seen what commercialization has done to that place. As a local, Sattal and Naukuchiatal are divine places for me. It is image of what Nainital, Bhimtal, Mussoorie had been like before rampant commercialization in the name of tourism. Today, Mallital seems no less than Chandni Chowk when viewed from a distance. With trees chopped off, natural water seepage pathways blocked, we've seen what that results in during October'21 cloud bursts. Locals get limited water supply in summers, thanks to the plethora of hotels that have been erected whose needs are far more important than those of locals.
The hills are losing their charm.
Thanks for the efforts you're puttin in to save this place.

Please let me know where I must sign this petition. We must make this an all India movement and save the beauty of Sattal for the generations to come.
