Great video I teach my sudents to trap at angels always then move center. I have some training in wing chun. But I am a northern kung fu practioneer. But I do follow the concept of wing chun trap techniques. I think it adds to northern stylish trapping hands. Love it I also follow mantis style trapping both styles are adequate with trapping and can bring tradition northern stylish trapping to another level. If the concepts are followed and adapted. Again great video.

Very nice you are definitely right about the timing.... it is all about when to act more than how .... please continue sharing your knowledge and thanks
Iv found that your first entry is dangerous when you don't have your lead foot outside of his lead foot. Without your foot being outside your opponents, he is still very able to hit you with his second punch, or you'll walk right into a knee to the body or groin, he is still able to grab you or even fall on you because you have your leg I front of him. However if your lead foot is outside of his lead foot, you don't have any of these issues to deal with. The purpose of said footwork is to get yourself into a position where you can punch across his chin rather than towards it! These are things that i have found anyway. Much respect!
best approach for jab from a wing chun guy. Thanks for the application explanation. Very logical points you catch probably your own opinions not traditional wing chun.
Jabs should be no issue in Wing Chun, the problem is many practitioner's will use the Pak Sao in the wrong way. The key to not getting hit, so I will use the old boxing adage which is to first and foremost protect yourself at all times, in Wing Chun this means keeping the hands guarding the centerline. He has to jab at the face, so he will have to met the Wu Sao hand guarding the centerline. Second, the Pak never meets the hand, it makes contact behind the wrist where there is allot of surface area. Its the same concept as facing the snake, you don't snatch the head because its too fast and that is where the venom is, rather you snatch behind the head.
You are correct. I also use Tan Sao against the opposite arm [if a straight punch]. The quick deflection when you turn the wrist and the elbow goes centerline sends the opponent offline [with surprising effect]. This means you use their momentum with a subtle turn and attack outside the jab. It's open season. Must have forward pressure on the Tan Sao and I keep the hand like a blade with thumb up to glance against the arm before turning the wrist/elbow. This deflection with forward pressure knocks them offline. You then are outside and have clear entry. Like you said: Never chase hands. Use proper form and forward pressure. The wedge of your arm position will deflect their attack and often turn their body.
I like the movement but there is way too much talking. I wish he would do the stuff first so we can see it and then explain. Are their reviews of the videos?
The Kenpo system applies some of those same principles in the attack..blocks and parries are common in the Kenpo system but in the Kenpo system? ? they in some techniques they apply leg checks...and the Kenpo systems origin is from the Chinese before it was further developed in Okinowa. There are many practitioner that if you watch you see a lot of similar movement but with more circular arm movement.
True. I studied Kenpo and Wing Chun. Many similarities. I find the Wing Chun movements more economical and effortless, but I like the rolling attacks and strikes of Kenpo. They work great together.
Good techniques but dont forget that in a self defence situation because we are scared and have fear. We always be 1 or 2 seconds slower than the opponent so the second technique is very dangerous.
please no wu sao! a wu sao is for awaiting incoming punches (means 'waking hand'). Instead better use a punch to the biceps or elbow joint, you can also make a lap sao or a pak sao right before your face (to the side). Lifting up your elbow for blocking with your elbow ánd biceps is also an option, this way after the hook one side of him will be completely open and easy for you to hit. nativesupport please don't teach people the wrong things, this is why i reccomend ALL people to not believe anything anyone says on the internet. There are so many misinformed people or frauds, try to find a Sifu('s) in your area that you like and train with him/them instead
Not wing chun. Understand what you’re doing and attempting to do. Have 40 yrs in the arts this year. Trained with some of the names. Your entire entry theory looks like various forms of JKD. Hence NOT wing chun. But whatever. Good luck with your Path and your Journey
Slap slap to arm...sound nice , looking nice but in a street fight boxer or not nobody throw a straight lead punch and the head is never static or erect like a soldier during action ! These men always try to pick up and follow arms of oppenent. I think this is not realistic.
there are also defenses against other attacks like combos, haymakers, close hooks etc. it s just not in this clip. the static head is part of the wing chun system. a head leaned forward like a boxer is closer to the opponent and therefore considered exposed. boxers were gloves so a lowered head hides behind the gloves and is well protected. it works for the ring.
Good point about the gloves. Boxers, for some reason, are given false confidence in the street. They often break their only weapons [their hands] because they are used to having gloves and wrist wraps. Duck your head or lead their jab to your elbow [you already know they are going to go for your chin, for the most part]. They'll quickly break their hands. Wing Chun, meanwhile, can punch with impunity and because the form is proper and the bones hardened, no issue. They also focus on other kinds of strikes best for each area. I love boxing, but it's not the most suited to real life [ironic that people claim the same thing about Wing Chun]. Also, the vertical fist is easier to clear [smaller profile] and more powerful than the jab. No gloves to stuff the attack. Wing Chun should not use gloves. It kills sensitivity and also diminishes the "wedging" and deflection necessary in the form.
Dave Hu what he did was "original wing chun" - he just applied different wingchun in the same situation than what others might have applied. straight kick & chainpunches - or pak-da ... both is "original wing chun" ...what does "original" mean anyways in a living art - that changes constantly since it came into beeing? we have always said we are open to change as part of our evolution. So there is no "original" - except maybe what is left from yip mans documentations. wing chun is a system of concepts - and as long you dont betray the concepts you can do what you want and would still be "original wing chun"
Try the Tan Sao against the opposite straight punch [slide the arm just beyond their strike.. same movement, elbow ends at centerline]. Makes a GREAT outside entry when the wrist/elbow turns out your opponent is sent offline and you can use the momentum and pivot straight into an attack past the shoulder.
+Salih Sari You are talking about somebody with a black belt in wing chun. There are no belts in wing chun. This doesn't even remotely resemble wing chun.

how does this only have 100 likes with almost 20k views?? This seems nice. Displays the importance of timing well.
Wow well explained and essential technics inside - outside gates!! Thanks Sifu
Nicely explained..after taking care of the first hand one must be aware of the second hand..nice
This was a great video. Your instruction is thorough and you explain some common issues. Thanks for this

Thanks you.... it really helps to understand the application.
Çok güzel anlatmışsınız Sifu. Teşekkürler.
sehr interessant und trotz des optimierungsfähigen Englisch sehr verständlich, Danke!
greetings...the wing tsun can be a self defense used by bodyguards/security...?or it is not suitable
Thanks for the contribution. I like it. Can we see that in free full contact sparring application?
I like the movement but there is way too much talking. I wish he would do the stuff first so we can see it and then explain.

exelente, aprendi mucho de este video.....gracias sifu

muchas gracias por compartir su conocimiento sifu

Thank you for sharing!
4:02 that’s a fook sao covering hand not pak sao.. great points
How do you defense hook punch?

Great
There are so many holes in your concept of a fight you could drive from France to England in the gap
Way back in the 90s--do your research
Big talk..prove it ?
Giulio Campobassi Learn to do research, put up money or wallow in your own ignorance forever.
in his wing tsun concept? or just wing tsun in general has a big hole?
Wing Chun's paradigm is not isomorphic
Perfect.

Why is that no wing chun in your opinion? I’m curious 👀
great video. can you translate this into English as i do not speak Japanese and would find it even more instructional
He is speaking in English bro
great video
very interresting, thanks for sharring
They have no sparring as they know they will lose.
what the fuck are you saying?

Well all sound good and flash. Street fight is different. Anything goes. All good until someone gets punched in the face
You can throw a front kick
Like he said "everything changed" what he did is not Original yun chun
Dave Hu what he did was "original wing chun" - he just applied different wingchun in the same situation than what others might have applied.

tan sau safer for inside gates
Try the Tan Sao against the opposite straight punch [slide the arm just beyond their strike.. same movement, elbow ends at centerline]. Makes a GREAT outside entry when the wrist/elbow turns out your opponent is sent offline and you can use the momentum and pivot straight into an attack past the shoulder.
Not bad thanks for sharing
More Mc dojo Oh Please.
great explanation, but don`t work. i know only one wing chun system that can handle with a boxer. "applied wing chun".
g o o d
Nice
nice video

its nice to watch but when it comes to reality this guys will be knocked out by a kickboxer/boxer
+Salih Sari You are talking about somebody with a black belt in wing chun. There are no belts in wing chun. This doesn't even remotely resemble wing chun.
