I haven't read this since 10th grade (36 years ago)... but I'm loving hearing it read to me! 💜 It's one of my favorite tales... I've seen nearly every movie and mini-series version... but there's no replacement for the original text. *Thank* *you* *so* *much* for Part 1/2. On to Part 2/2!
Like all Dickens it's a combination of vivacious characterizations... combined with a very simple plot. But there's a mystery in this one that really needs to be read to be appreciated. I urge you to read it yourself, listen to audio versions of it... then, afterwards, RUclips has plenty of videos that can help you with analyzing the details. 🌱 I hope you'll grow to love it, as I do.
You know, I can't quite understand why Dickens bores me incredibly. I see the humour in this work that was entirely absent in A Tale of Two Cities and Oliver Twist. But, ugh. Maybe I'm biased due to the vicious antisemitism of Twist, but I just dislike Dickens so much. His characters are so static. This is better than the other two, though but still. It's odd, since I love Trollope, who, arguably, followed a discernable pattern for many of his story progressions. Hmm.
