Ullapool is a bit of a disaster. There's no 4G in the town. That might have changed, but very recently. The garage, or fuel station is way, way, too small. The Town has limited parking, which they now charge for, so don't give this place your business.
The Tesco car park, is free, if you can get in there. The spaces are only sized for small cars. You do see motorhomes parked in the Tesco car park, but damage is likely. The store itself is expensive, and has limited stock. You can get LPG, but it's hard to find, and if you go to the small industrial estate to the North of the town, you'll enter and take a right hand bend, the LPG is almost straight away on your right. It can take quite some time for the yard to clear so you can actually get in. It took me 45 minutes due to loads vehicles on a transporter.
There are many easier and cheaper places with a greater selection in Dingwall, Inverness, and Fort William.
While I don't have a grudge against Ullapool, it doesn't even register as a place to park up, pay, and walk around. Apart from LPG, I don't bother. I don't even think, 'I'll just pop into Tesco for xyz.
Be it Oban, Dingwall, Inverness, or Fort William, you should have enough supplies to get to Thurso, or Wick.
Going to Ullapool to catch a ferry, that's a different ball game. Big long layby 6 miles South of Ullapool. Decent views, and cracking 4G signal. The new waterfront development in Ullapool will draw in more eyeballs, making the place even more unbearable. Massive mistake introducing car park charges.

There is nice and big camping for motorhomes...from Ullapool can travel to Hibrides Islands by FerryBoat, The prices in Tesco are the same like in others Tesco stores , Tesco is not like cheaper like Aldi or Lidl. I like Ullapool for nice sea view and nature )

@@AroundTheWorldmdlook, I could be suuuuper critical of Scotland as a tourist destination. The NC500 has virtually no facilities. Unless you're planning to stop for 3 days or more, most campsites aren't worth it. In at 2pm, out by 11am. Many car tourists make the mess. Litter, shit, toilet paper. They are the ones who should be carrying a portable toilet.
I've done the NC500, and the rest of Scotland many times, and I've not found a single supermarket, or shop with proper campervan/Motorhome parking. I once went to the Coop before the Skye bridge. Went early, and there were 6 seven plus meter motorhomes in the carpark before me, all parked over 7 parking bays. Why?
Things are getting worse for campervaners and motorhomes. I give it 5yrs, and bad mouthing Scotland and The Highlands will be very common. I will still go to Scotland because I know where to go, but that doesn't stop me from being totally honest and rubbishing the place.
Scotland is going like Wales, which is a dump. I'm from Wales, and it's a campervan/Motorhome shit hole, and Scotland is going the same way.
Want to know why Wales hates tourists? Because the health service is so bad, they literally crap them selves every summer, lest they can't cope, and someone dies in the corridor.
Much more sense to pay the ferry and go to Europe, which is brilliant.
