@@TrackMediaOnly they also conceded that this is "historical fiction" rather than "historically accurate" which they have to do now for damage control since a lot of other problems are appearing.
It's a really simple thing to consider. Why, of all the AC titles did they choose THIS ONE to have a real historical person as the main character? It's obvious as hell. Step 1: They were told "the main character HAS to be black." Step 2: Someone reasonable said "how does that work, there were no black people in Japan then, it makes no sense." That person was probably fired. Step 3: They scoured the internet looking for some historian hack who mentioned ONE black person in all of Japan then. Step 4: They realised there was zero case for having black characters unless it was literally that one single example they could point at to say "look, you can't say there weren't because he was here." If they could have justified a black main character in ANY OTHER WAY, it wouldn't be a real figure from history, however twisted and altered they've made him.

And they didn't say they were wrong. They said Yasuke was a debatable, mysterious figure which created opportunities for historical fiction which is normal for this franchise.
Yasuke could've easily just been a NPC quest giver that gives the player information that only someone in his unique position would have. Give him a couple of cool moments in cutscenes, but nothing spectacular and he'd be infinitely less controversial and people would be encouraged more to Google him and learn more about him instead of Googling him to prove how wrong Ubisoft is. They could've easily had their 'minority' character quota filled without putting Yasuke in the forefront
That's actually a great idea. I have always thought that instead of putting someone who is not even a samurai, or even an assassin, should be given the main role in a series set in a Japan. Moreover, that guy is not even Japanese. There are so many other candidates that is both cool and is representative of that era. Not some random black dude who most Japanese people have not even heard about. If Ubisoft really cared about historical accuracy, but also wanted to put a fictionalized character as the main character of the game, then they should have made their main character one of the Saika Ikki. A real mercenary group/hired assassins that are mostly unnamed, and acted around the same time.
Thomas Lockley was criticized by a bunch of historians about three years ago for his book. You know the one. It’s full of speculation portrayed as facts. I have to thank Ubisoft for this because if they hadn’t made Yasuke a protagonist, most people wouldn’t have known about Thomas Lockley’s bogus claims about Yasuke, exposing every fraud in the industry. Also, sword bearers don’t go out and fight, they stay in the camp. Also, there is no mention of Yasuke receiving martial arts or katana training. Lastly, if he were this “honorable samurai,” he would have had to commit Harakiri (Seppuku) because it’s part of the samurai code (Bushido). You’re not an honorable samurai if you don’t follow Bushido.
Basically the game is a bunch of french larping they are a black dude killing japanese people. There is no honor or respect the way yasuke fight he fight like a hulk or a bully just smashing them in the most brutal way. This look more like a frustrated fantasy of french devs than a game about a honorable "samurai"
There is a real western historical equivalent to what Yasuke really was. European courts would often have dwarves in them. The dwarves were well dressed and fed and had a good quality of life, but they were there to entertain the guests because of the "uniqueness" to put it politely. The same can be said for Yasuke and Nobunaga. Honestly, if anyone bothered to just use a little bit of reason in looking at this they would see the idea of him being a "samurai" wasn't even possible. Yasuke was only with Nobunaga for 2 years or so. That is not enough time to effectively learn how to use a katana, let alone step onto a battlefield with one. The whole premise is faulty, but too many people don't bother thinking through things rationally anymore.
@@ChefBoyR.D. Good lord, only YOU and those that think like you, care that he's black. That insults him and everyone like him that had to suffer through history AND today, regardless of their skin color, and it does them no favors to pretend he was something he was not.
The funniest irony is every western gaming consultant look to Thomas Lockley' s fan fiction book of Yasuke as credible source for Japanese history and Lockley is still hiding from the internet. The Japanese called him out for him not being an historian but a English professor.
They're not sorry, and Japan is not accepting the apology. They are going to be sued for insulting Japan and falsifying it's history just to bolster this game
Ezio trailer in the background at the end, thank you. 👍🏻🔥 Those games were just incredible and I still play them more than like the last three new AC out today.
They can’t claim they did any historic research. The Shinobi weren't their own fighter class. There were Samurai, which is a rank, who did assassinations or spy work, therefor they took on the job of a Shinobi. So exactly the opposite of what he is saying. Also a Samurai wouldn't walk through town in his battlefield armor. And Iga wasn't a secret, hidden village in the mountains, but an important and well known center of commerce with a lot of trade routes. There were no Ninja training in the Himalayas, that's from Batman for heaven's sake.
Well it's plain old historical revisionism they were doing in the west for a decade now. Being in a game only because it's more popular than actual history books. It's only more effective this way. I have a favorite quote about that by some CIA director. "We'll know our disinformation campaign is complete when everything the American public believes is false." - now people would downplay it and say "it's just a game" but it's also a piece of work with real cultural influence on young people. The perfect vehicle for someone who wants to do any real damage and erase or rewrite actual real memory. The professional managerial class needs subjects without any real memory to guide them. Monkeys smart enough to run the machinery and dumb enough not to ask important questions.

Don't forget Godzilla. This predated Goku, along with Atom (Astro Boy in west). Goku ripped from chinese myth to be fair. From Software created the whole Souls-like genre too. Ubisoft is shameless.
It is time for a new genre and era of games and movies in the near future that allows you to choose and customize the physical traits of a protagonist. This way no fights will erupt, all will be satisfied. Diversity only works in a utopian world, our world is not a utopian society.. it is rather the opposite, therefore everything has to adjust. We cannot force dogs to live and play with cats, foxes with whales, crabs with pigs, birds with locusts, and so forth. Each individual has a role to play in this world, we cannot force them to do something they don't want. We are humans, but we have very different identities, dna, cultures, upbringing, languages, religions, physical traits, etc. and that is what sets us all apart.
If they were actually sorry they’d have listened and stopped making this game and remake it with actual Japanese Historic content. We all know that’s not gonna happen, and they even said they’re still going to release this game anyway 😂
The fact that they got the environment of Japan wrong speaks volumes to the downfall of the studio, Ubisoft ac environments used to be 1/1 recreations (or the best of what we know) like the notre dame cathedral of the historical settings now they can’t even get the seasons and buildings right.

So, ALL those places got a native dude to play as in those games over twenty years, but Japan doesn't. It's like I always say, Wokes REALLY HATE Asian men. Like, they REALLY do not like them.
How does Ubisoft not understand that ALLLLLLLL they have to do is listen to their fans? For an entire DECADE we’ve been saying we wanted a realistic, historically accurate, AC narrative set in Japan. Nobody, absolutely nobody asked for the woke DEI agenda to be thrown in with it. When will Ubisoft realize that their fans have laid out the PERFECT blueprint & road map to success all over the internet, all they had to do was listen.
Assassins creed games have always tried to stay true to time periods as far as architecture, people, and technology while inserting some fantastical elements in. It would've been far better to follow other well known, actual samurai, in feudal japan for this iteration with a neat apperance of yasuke alongside nobunaga as a nod to his being a true to life person, even with little knowledge of how he served his time in Japan. But nah, they went full retard, fully fledged gay samurai. 😂
Honestly though I would want a fictional Japanese samurai that met historical figures. If they used anyone remotely real they would just use it as an opportunity to rewrite history. I mean Nagato had a son not a daughter. They just can't help themselves.

@@TrackMediaOnly they also conceded that this is "historical fiction" rather than "historically accurate" which they have to do now for damage control since a lot of other problems are appearing.
100% will not buy.
It's a really simple thing to consider. Why, of all the AC titles did they choose THIS ONE to have a real historical person as the main character? It's obvious as hell.
Step 1: They were told "the main character HAS to be black."
Step 2: Someone reasonable said "how does that work, there were no black people in Japan then, it makes no sense." That person was probably fired.
Step 3: They scoured the internet looking for some historian hack who mentioned ONE black person in all of Japan then.
Step 4: They realised there was zero case for having black characters unless it was literally that one single example they could point at to say "look, you can't say there weren't because he was here."
If they could have justified a black main character in ANY OTHER WAY, it wouldn't be a real figure from history, however twisted and altered they've made him.

Given the other protagonist is gender swapped on top they were really pushing for that quota.

@@NicotineDeprivedMoomin I agree. Not only a black person, but a huge black person that couldn't be missed. I mean compared to everyone else stereotypically tall. They just can't help themselves.
I wish each nation would still be 99% of their own people.
If they wanted to do a split gameplay with two main protagonists. It'd be fine if both characters were fictional characters.
My question is why on earth would they do a loyal Samurai instead of a Masterless Ronin who joins with the Kunoichi Naoe it would've fit so easily as being apart of the Assassin's. Then again one of their claimed 'Historian's' only had her research dedicated to Homosexual Pedophilia throughout history.
Ain't buying either of these pathetic games
The schemers are loosing their grip on our beloved brands, the entire world is starting to notice specific groups pushing this nonsense.
Forgot outlaws even existed tbh
I don't see how the Wokes can't see it. Like they said, this series is TWENTY years old, and the ONE TIME they do Japan, they screw over Japanese males. I'd be feel pretty damn let down. I'm of Italian descent, I LIKE that Ezio is Italian. I don't think I'd lose my shit, but he'd be less cool in that game if he was some outsider. Ezio had his roots as motivation in those games.
So, ALL those places got a native dude to play as in those games over twenty years, but Japan doesn't. It's like I always say, Wokes REALLY HATE Asian men. Like, they REALLY do not like them.
Because to them everything is about THE MESSAGE.
Wokes hate Asians in general.
Not sure why, but I have a few theories
Asian man here.
Can confirm, my kind is not welcome or included at most woke events or in woke media
"We are sorry please buy our game." - Ubisht
Anyone who can hear or read that "Apology" would know it isn't.
