- I was likely the last person to accept delivery of the Tesla Cybertruck before they completely halted deliveries. There is an issue where the accelerator pedal cover can come dislodged. This could result in unintended acceleration.

I expected this to happen since Tesla forgot to install the bolts holding the steering wheel on more than 100k vehicles. Imagine this happening to Mercedes or BMW. People would be outraged, but Tesla fanboys love getting Musked. Tesla should have recalled all their Cybertrucks immediately.

Risk is not in a parking lot, it’s when you are merging 60+ mph onto a highway, and instead of 65mph you are 100 and climbing into stopped traffic… break may or may not save you with 600hp and thousands of pounds and maxed out throttle

@@Cthulhusreef I would temporarily glue it together with extra strong construction glue, drill holes and screw it together with 4 pieces of 10mm bolts, hex nuts towards the foot for extra traction.

@@Cthulhusreef Nice tip, tSolid 9/10 on DAD scale. I additionally bought slip resistant Crocs, and just in case I put winter crampons with long spikes on them.
You should try wedging your flip-flop at the top of the pedal between the carpet. They have been known to come off feet in certain situations.
I think the real question is, how is the panel bonded to the pedal? If it’s screwed on, good. If it’s just super glued or hooked, that’s a problem and it could come loose at any time

Check your accelerator pedal. Maybe take it to service to have them make sure it is secured and doesn't slide up.
How is the cover attached? Did you ensure there's a screw or something holding it in place?

With only around ~5k CTs delivered the reality is that this is not a massive show stopping issue. Just do recall checkups for anyone possibly affected and call it a day. Yes it slows down deliveriea, but there's no way they stop for long over just a pedal grip attachment.
Y’know it’s pretty telling how you care more about the delivery pace of these vehicles and the optics of the company moving past this issue as quickly as possible more than the potential danger of a serious design issue. You talk as if this is something they can just jiggle around real quick and “call it a day”. It isn’t, and your priorities are completely messed up.

I'm pointing out that others have had millions of cars that need a recall in the past, while this is being addressed when. There is hardly any on the road so far. This is the best possible outcome. The issue was found by a guy slamming on his pedal doing drag strip launches. Go figure. I'm just pointing out this issue is minor to getting Vehicle production back on track. It will probably not delay them for long.
