Thank you for bringing back 1990s memories sir! I used to watch WAM4s in my childhood and also had sweet experience of teacher sending me out for drawing a WAM4 in class notes ! In 1997-98.
Excellent!!..brings back memories of childhood (and teenage) days of travelling on WAM-4 powered trains. Note the sound of the cooling fans and also the turbine-like sound of the tractions motors powering up.
In those days the two premiere trains used to be Mumbai- Delhi and Kolkata- Delhi Rajdhani express and Gitanjali express (Mumbai-Kolkata).Now it is history.
I still want to ask (as I had on another post of yours) what camera did you use at that time, resolution was limited, yet quality is good and I think I hear dual-mono sound track as well. Just curious. Laudable work!
awesome video Sir, brings back my childhood. I was 2 years old that time. I love the maroon color coaches. Also that time, it was far less crowd in the stations even in the train itself. Only one AC coach that too a 2 tier. Now we have so many, but the sleeper coaches now are so over crowded, that time it was a pleasant ride. Old is gold. Hats off to you sir, for this awesome video. Its a diamond now, we will never get to see all these now.
Bhusaval electric loco shed in 1998,was a treasure trove of rare locomotives...I spotted some Japanese made WAG 2 electrics ( B-B type ) albeit on branch line/ slow passenger work...meanwhile,that year, in Mumbai, a handful of WCM 2 and WCM 5 Class DC electrics were still working.
Even now there are guard vans (SLRs) in the front and rear. At that time, there was only one 2AC coach in the Gitanjali. 3AC did not exist at that time.
I was going to ask about the red-yellow livery and then I read your description. I don't know if any other trains passing through Kalyan (where I lived in the 90s) had that red-yellow livery. I loved watching the Gitanjali for that reason.
Superb !! Thanks for the rare dual tone horn. I`ve been looking around for these similar tones like what the WAP 1/2/3 used to have in the 90`s. Where have the horns all gone????
what a train it was back in the days i did travel a lot between tata and cst till 2002 i was in the inaugural run to which had 6 stops and now it has 26
Wow! I envy you - the inaugural train would have been a class act. Do you remember whether it halted at Bilaspur? I think it was a tech halt to start it. I traveled in it twice in 1979 and 80 when it was till a great train. By that time, they had added Dadar and Bilaspur had become a commercial halt. But it still had that wonderful red-yellow livery.
@@ManiVijay It was a tech halt for quite a while before it became a commercial halt. the red-yellow livery was there for some time and then it was changed to brown it was an end to end train even the unreserved comp was connected.
@@menon_ji4984 Possible. I have traveled on this train westwards from Durg in the early 80s. After Durg, it used to halt only at Nagpur , Akola and Bhusaval and then on to Igatpuri , Karjat and then onwards to Bombay VT. Durg to Bhusaval used to be behind a single WDM-2 since that section was unelectrified until the very early 90s ( I think .. )

WAM4s were mainstay of IR those days for superfast trains. WAP1 was reserved for RAJDHANI/SHATABDI. It was after 1994 when WAP4 came in to existence WAP1 was used for SF trains while Premium trains got WAP4
I guess this was an odd rake for Gitanjali. No pantry car and just one AC coach. The horizontal lines too do not look familiar. This train always had and still has a pantry car and a couple of AC2T and AC3T.

IR has degraded so many trains over time by introducing unnecessary halts.
Mani sir you must be the one who invented the concept of rail fanning...
You are too kind :-)
