I got a cat once at a shelter that had been badly abused. She had been there for 6 months and no one wanted her because she hissed and attacked. I took her. It took a whole year before she finally came to me on her own. When I was working, she would eat and use her litter box. When I was home, she never came out from under the bed. I just left her alone. Finally one night, a year later, I was watching tv, lying on the couch and she jumped up on me. From that moment on she was ok. She was 2 years old when I got her and she passed away at 18. I loved that cat❤
i had a similar experience. My brother adopted a cat that had been at the shelter 7 months. The cat also took a year to come out of hiding. Now she is a very loving friendly cat
My heart breaks for this poor baby. He seems less aggressive towards the man and more sad and confused in general. It can be really hard for senior cats to adapt to new environments, especially if they've never moved house before. That and he's undoubtably worried about where his Mum went. His meows sound to me like cries for her.

Cats just get very stressed out when they change habitats, especially after that long and with new owners. They need time. If you get in their face or try to force anything it makes things so much worse. Give them space and make sure they have high spots they can go to. Cornering it on the floor like that under a table is definitely wrong.

Poor kitty. He misses his mama and also his lovely home where he was used to all the sights and sounds, his favorite sleeping spots, how the air and everything smelled, where his food and water bowl and litter box was. Everything changed. And he didn't know why she didn't come back. Poor baby!

Finally! Somebody gets it. Actually has a clear conscious and an open mind... And KNOWS what they're talking about. That relatively middle aged feline sure needed time to get used to its new surroundings. I applaud knowledge people who go out of their way to take the time to raise that poor, precious,and wonderfully adorable middle aged 🐈 to its new family. Kudos to them for not easily giving up on that 🐈,and just relocating that same 🐈 to another place. Or giving it up to some cat sanctuary or shelter. Thanks to them for not giving up. Being resilient, having the patience to be able to have a positive interaction with that middle aged 🐈.
My kitty has been with me 15 yrs, i got her to keep my mother company while i worked. Mama passed , baby greived many weeks sitting outside her bedroom 😢 , broke my heart. She is since the joyof my life, more love than ever. They to miss and grieve like we humans do. Time and much love will bring them to you. God bless you for taking that time.
I am so happy the kitty had you, I think it is horrible to realize that they are like children and need to be given time to mourn, and need to know that their owner passed; do not hide a death from the pet, it will simply be confused and feel abandoned. We have a kitty of someone who passed. They are grieving too and the disruption in their home just adds to their distress. Our kitty took a while to move past her fears and sadness. Give them unconditional love.

А я забрала котика у волонтеров,который был на плохой передержке,хозяйка употребляла спиртное и коты голодали,кот был так счастлив,что попал из холодной квартиры,где отключили отопление из-за неуплаты,в теплй дом,где еда в мисочках на любой вкус: сухой и влажный корм,кусочки мяса и печени,а также травка свежая,что ластился об мои ноги без конца,а ночью спал рядом на подушке.
Кошки очень ценят свою личную территорию Привыкают не ко всем, как правило любимых у него 1-2 человека, они считают что хозяева служат для них, а он царь зверей
Надо не лезть к животному. Просто молча ставить еду, воду. Для них стресс Он забрал его- спасибо большое за доброе сердце. Но на всё время нужно ,время прийти в себя, стресс опасен.

My foster son moved out and visited us. His favorite cat did her normal routine: ran and hid. That was quite disappointing for our foster son. Plus grandma could have been a Difficult Person. We don't really know. We do see a grandchild trying to save the cat from ending its life in a shelter or on the street. And persevering till success was made.

I agree. I also don't like seeing him get poked with the cat litter scooper, he might view that as hostile. I'm thinking just back off and let him have his space, he'll be a lot better after realizing that this is a safe place, not a hostile one. Don't come on too strong, let him come around on his terms. I don't think he's a bad cat, just scared and having a bad time coping with loss of grandma. He doesn't know what happened, she's just gone one day. Edit: at the end of video, cat isn't all the way back but doing MUCH better, good on the guy for working with the cat and being patient.
It is the Asian culture. Sadly their cats and small dogs live alot of their lives caged. There are however many areas where people have stopped this and set up really nice pet pads for their furry loved ones. There is one exception might be here is they are afraid for a child in home or that cat is determined to escape. I thank you sir for taking the cat under your care.
Animals grieve, too. I have seen changes in personality from loving and gentle cats to this behaviour when they grieve. They are very sensitive to changes in their lives. Please be kind and give them time to heal.

Thank God the man took the cat with him. Beautiful baby. He was scared and missing his human. It is not an easy task to get closer in this situation. I have 3 cats and this is a fear of mine. I always ask God to have mercy and allow me to go just after them. I am 50 and my two oldest are 15 and the younger is 8.

With my rescue cats, I always put them separately on the basement to let them feel safe. I hardly interact with them for the first few days, except to announce my presence when I go downstairs to give them water & food, as well as clean the little box. They need time to adjust themselves to the new change. ~ LOVE conquers all ~

I am so happy the kitty had you, I think it is horrible to realize that they are like children and need to be given time to mourn, and need to know that their owner passed; do not hide a death from the pet, it will simply be confused and feel abandoned. Постепенно стал выходить, чуть что, сразу за батарею. Долго еше боялся, а ведь он был молодым. А это взрослая кошка, ей ещё труднее. Тут главное любовь и соблюдать личное пространство.

У меня кошечка из хорошего приюта тоже неделю в обувнице просидела. Постепенно стала нормальной. Набрала вес, распушистилась и начала громко мурлыкать 😊
А я забрала котика у волонтеров,который был на плохой передержке,хозяйка употребляла спиртное и коты голодали,кот был так счастлив,что попал из холодной квартиры,где отключили отопление из-за неуплаты,в теплй дом,где еда в мисочках на любой вкус: сухой и влажный корм,кусочки мяса и печени,а также травка свежая,что ластился об мои ноги без конца,а ночью спал рядом на подушке.
Кошки очень ценят свою личную территорию
Привыкают не ко всем, как правило любимых у него 1-2 человека, они считают что хозяева служат для них, а он царь зверей
Совершенно верно, а не тыкать животину, да ещё прикрикивать на второй- третий день.
Кошечка в глубоком стрессе,страдает по своей умершей хозяйке,добра вам и терпения!❤😢

My foster son moved out and visited us. His favorite cat did her normal routine: ran and hid. That was quite disappointing for our foster son.
Plus grandma could have been a Difficult Person. We don't really know.
We do see a grandchild trying to save the cat from ending its life in a shelter or on the street. And persevering till success was made.

I agree. I also don't like seeing him get poked with the cat litter scooper, he might view that as hostile. I'm thinking just back off and let him have his space, he'll be a lot better after realizing that this is a safe place, not a hostile one. Don't come on too strong, let him come around on his terms. I don't think he's a bad cat, just scared and having a bad time coping with loss of grandma. He doesn't know what happened, she's just gone one day.
Edit: at the end of video, cat isn't all the way back but doing MUCH better, good on the guy for working with the cat and being patient.
It is the Asian culture. Sadly their cats and small dogs live alot of their lives caged. There are however many areas where people have stopped this and set up really nice pet pads for their furry loved ones. There is one exception might be here is they are afraid for a child in home or that cat is determined to escape. I thank you sir for taking the cat under your care.

The cat may not feel well to begin with. He may be ill or arthritic, etc.
Animals grieve, too. I have seen changes in personality from loving and gentle cats to this behaviour when they grieve. They are very sensitive to changes in their lives. Please be kind and give them time to heal.

I always ask God to have mercy and allow me to go just after them. I am 50 and my two oldest are 15 and the younger is 8.

With my rescue cats, I always put them separately on the basement to let them feel safe. I hardly interact with them for the first few days, except to announce my presence when I go downstairs to give them water & food, as well as clean the little box. They need time to adjust themselves to the new change. ~ LOVE conquers all ~

@@Vero2yu it's very possible that the cat was semi-feral when taken in, and only bonded to the lady who had passed. my grandmother's cat is the exact same, she found her out in the woods nearly starved to death and completely alone as a juvenile. that cat hates absolutely everybody but her rescuer! sometimes animals just have a special bond with one person alone, and haven't had the opportunity to trust or get to know other humans, so they stay skeptical or afraid
