Spain Revealed - James Blick Precioso ❤ I used to go there every year and watching this gave me so much happyness :) For spectacular places I'd reccommend Ezcaray at La Rioja, in summer it's beautiful
Pyralis, you are ver right!!! La Rioja is a wonderful and amazing place where you can go whenever you want. Winter, spring or summer. Even in autumn, the best season for me, its landscapes have an incredible mix of beautiful colors from yellow to red. You'll love this land as I do.
Extremadura is most definitely the hidden gem of Spain. I had the pleasure of living in Mérida for a few years and I'm still in love with the region. One of the most genuine places in the Peninsula and also one of the least visited, which baffles me, because it's packed with historical landmarks from several different eras.
Spain has so much variety that it is difficult to choose the most beautiful or interesting place. We live on the border with Galicia so it is easier to get up to that region. Certainly the Rias Altas from Ferrol to Ribadeo would have to make the list. Spectacular cliffs, fishing villages, and lighthouses make it a great trip. The coast between la Coruña and Cabo Finesterre is also beautiful with the fishing villages of Laxe, Camariñas, and Muxia. Then of course you have a place I keep coming back to--Extremadura. It is almost half the size of Portugal and has mountains (Sierra de Gata), plains, fertile river valleys (Don Benito, Badajoz, Coria), massive reservoirs, two great rivers (the Guadiana and the Tajo), and so many historical cities that you would spend a lifetime visiting them all. Plasencia, Cáceres, Mérida, Trujillo, Hervás, Coria, the list goes on and on.
I love this part of Spain. My Spanish wife and I drove through the valley last summer, coming from El Burgo de Osma past El Barco de Avila and on to Trujillo via the EX-208 road through the Monfrague National Park (which is an incredible place for bird watching). We stopped off in Cabezuela del Valle to buy a box of delicious large cherries which were being packed for export. The countryside in Extramadura is fantastic with hardly any traffic outside the main cities and some real hidden gems to visit. Extramadura also has it's own collection of reclaimed epic Hotels which are called Hospederias De Extramadura which are a fine alternative to the Paradores. Big thumbs up to the humble tomato and (Spanish) onion salad which is very refreshing in hot temperatures (Italy does an equally brilliant fennel and orange salad). Excellent video. WT
On your next trip you should go northwest from Plasencia to the abandoned village of Grenadilla on the shores of the Gabriel y Galán reservoir. Spectacular. Then head northwest to the Las Hurdes region just south of La Alberca, then head south to Sierra de Gata with the famous villages of Gata, Santibañez el Alto, Robledillo de Gata, and San Martín de Trevejo. The larger town of Coria on the plains of the Alagón River is also worth a day.
Thanks Ray, that looks like a very tempting proposition. I very often check out lakes and reservoirs when travelling in Spain. There's nearly always some interesting stuff going on and the more remote the better of course. I'm compelled to mention the fantastic countryside of Castile. There's a lot of great stuff well off the tourist trail. Cheers. WT
This has just become my MOST favorite video of you!! :D Had a smile on my face all throughout! I will be in Madrid for a year and you cannot imagine how much helpful your videos are.. :) Keep up the awesome, magical work.. And you two were so cute with the picnic :D Love from India!! :)
Os pasáis el dia comiendo y bebiendo!!! No entiendo cómo estáis delgados!!! GRACIAS
I'm from La Vera (very close to Jerte Valley). Thank you so much for this video, unfortunately, Extremadura is not a popular destination and some people think there's almost nothing here but... it's simply not true. Extremadura is incredibly beautiful. Thank you, again, for letting people know about us :-).
Hola Silvia !! Me encanta tu región, ya he estado tres veces y pienso volver !!
I’ve stayed at the parador in Cagas de Onis (Asturias). It was an old monastery and absolutely beautiful. Warm and modern rooms, with great views of the mountains. The breakfast was a little pricey but delicious. Fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, jams, juice and coffee. It was worth the splurge from our regular toast and coffee. Possibly the most beautiful parador I have seen! It was expensive but completely worth the splurge!
An entertaining video. We were just there last week, but not exactly where you were. We did the Jerte thing two years ago crossing from Jaraiz de la Verta to Valdastillas on the Garganta la Olla road. Scary and loney as we never met another car. On this trip we visited the Monastery of Yuste in Coacos de Yuste, where Carlos V spent his last days, plus the German cemetery close by. Actually where you were, it is not the Jerte but la Vera. The Jerte region is on the north side of the Gredos mountains while Vera is on the south side. But, of course there are cherry trees galore there too. The Parador you visited is in Jarandilla de la Vera. I know you know that but your viewers probably don't. Having said that, my favorite place in Extremadura, which is also my favorite region of Spain, is the Sierra de Gata. Coria is a great place to use as a base to visit the villages of the Sierra and also las Hurdes, once the most isolated region of Spain. The government of Extremadura has 8 hotels, called hospederías, in the most emblematic locations of the region. all of them inside restored convents, monasteries, or palaces. They are four star hotels and are cheaper than the paradores, with special prices if you pay with no cancellation. We've been now to the one in las Hurdes, San Martín de Trevejo, Alcántara, Hervás, and Garovillas de Alconétar. There is also one in the Jerte valley, Hospederia Valle del Jerte. I don't get a commission but the prices are right, the food is good, and they are in historical buildings. As a last point, I must say that your companion Joly is a good addition to your team. Attractive, intelligent, and good English. You're a lucky man.
My wife and I love your videos. You and Yoly are a great couple. When you finished the bottle of wine after forgetting your blanket, we knew you guys are our type. We're coming to Spain to spend extended time. We'll try to look you up. Btw, my wife's mom is from Seville.
The most spectacular place in Spain!....I couldn't even begin.....there are soo many...the north coast driving along the old coast road through little villages bathed in mist..
My many favourite places in Spain. The Bizkaia bridge in the port of Bilbao. Covadonga and in scenery of Asturias. The Roman ruins of Mérida. The patios and the Mezquita of Cordoba. The cathedral and the Feria de Abril in Seville. The town of Ronda with the famous new bridge. The village of Setenil de las Bodegas Andalucía. The Alhambra of Granada. The festival of Las Fallas in Valencia. The Roman ruins of Tarragona. Everything in Barcelona. The mountain of Monserrat and the monastery of San Miquel del Fai Cataluña. The tapas bar of Calle de laurel and the bodega of Campo Viejo in Logroño La Rioja.
My husband and I have been there and you’re right, it’s magical! A comment about the chain, Yoli is right! They used to tie the horses and buggies to them.
Altamente recomendables siempre...
Thank a lot of for your video about The Jerte Valley. It will help us to show what amazing is our region. I hope you will come back in other season, for instance, when the cherries are riped. They are delicious and they are all around. Besides, in summer time, you will could enjoy a refreshing bath in one of the best natural swimming pools of Spain, Los Pilones in the Nature Reserve Garganta de los Infiernos. Or why not, in autumn, it is the best season for the people who live here: the mixture of colours, the calm, it would be a real magical moment to share with your followers.
Great video! We (wife and I) are headed to Extremadura next week to start a 6 day cycling tour of the region with stops at 5 of the paradores (Oropesa, Jarandilla de la Vera, Plasencia, Trujillo and Caceres) with a rural house stay at Palacio Viejo de Las Corchuelas. Lots of fun riding to make up for the copious amounts of food and drink we intend to enjoy. Thanks for this and all your great videos. We feel better prepared because of them. Saludos!
I'm you glad that you have explored a wonderful area in Spain that is not a typical touristic destination. I'm from Extremadura and I'm so proud of what we have in our region. Thank's a lot!!!
That was magical. Thanks so much for sharing your adventure. Belleza. We stayed in the Parador in Leon. It was off-season and on Father's Day so the city was very quiet. It was so impressive. The bedroom was large by Spanish standards and overlooked the garden. We adore Spain. Keep those videos coming. This one was particularly romantic.
So nice to learn about this part of Spain and how spring arrives. Looking forward to your Toledo video, can you publish it before late August when we will be in Madrid? Gracias
As usual, amazing editing, amazing Spanish exploring! The "Paradors" in Granada and Santiago Compostela are incredible but expensive. Those in Monforte de Lemos, Santo Estevo, Benavente, Santa Domingo or Lerma in Burgos are awesome! Well done for the video and maybe hope to see you in Madrid around May!
The perfect summary for Spanish holidays: "We feel disgustingly full but very happy". We're going to Spain the next week, and I must confess I'm scared. Great video, by the way, you're great!
"Double dipping", from "Seinfeld" The good thing is, you did bring the most important thing 'the corkscrew' ;-) What a wonderful vacation, thank you for sharing... love use guys... Jimi
¡Que paisaje más hermoso! Hay que comprar la huerta de cerezas. . . Beautiful countryside, and love the food, too! I lived in Argentina with my wife, where we had 3 sons, and we learned Spanish (with the Buenos Aires Argentine accent). Quisiera volver algún día. . .
Great video! Your love for each other and especially for Spain is contagious. By chance were you guys able to try patatera blanca while you were there?
We have stayed in at least a dozen Paradors across España. We have stayed many times in the Plasencia Parador and the hotel and staff are fantastic with a special shoutout to Manuel, Mario and Jose Maria. We now have a flat in Plasencia and spend 6 months each there. It is truly a spectacular place
Beautiful place, I enjoy a lot your videos, as a Spaniard discovering amazing places like this and in the other hand, improving my English, so, thank you guys! ( you would love Cantabria, my homeland, awesome landscapes and wonderful food ;) )
Ni James and Yoli, Though 50% local, I enjoy your visions of Spain. Jerte is beautiful, I can vouch for the Mesón Castillo del Chuletón too. Sugest you go to the next valley to the west and visit Hervás and its old Jewish quarters. If you have time, to the west the Vera has the Parador in Jarandilla and Cuacos de Yuste where you can visit the monastery where emperor Carlos V retired. Keep up the good work.
Another great video guys! Everything about traveling is what happened on the video: Are we lost? Of course: that’s the best part; although I have an excellent sense of direction, every time I travel I get lost on purpose. That’s the best way to immerse into the destination. The cherry blossom? Like Tokyo...🍒🍒🍒 And the picnic blanket? It’s not needed! You can make a table with what you have available...Improvising is what makes an unforgettable trip...Gracias! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for making this video and for showing to the world such an amazing and beautiful region. The best part is the the cherries that give to us !!! Also I would add some elements to your guide. -the viewpoint of "Mirador de la Memoria" and for the ones who are in love with nature waterfall of Caozo and Nogaledas are a must to see it
Thank you so much for sharing this spectacular video. I'm from Plasencia although I live in Cáceres, a town you should know. Extremadura is the unknown land for most Spaniards and it is full of magical places full of history and beauty.
Paradores are amazing, some more elegant than others. My wife and I stayed in the Parador in Santiago de Compostela, which was originally a hospital built by Los Reyes Catolicas. It's right on the main square next to the cathedral. The rooms are large but the cloisters outside of the rooms make it a magical experience. We had the best breakfasts ever there: the selection and quality of the buffet tables are unparalleled. If you can do it, save your money and treat yourselves. The paradores are a luxury but sometimes our lives are worth the expense of luxury.

Thumbs up ere' guys, another great video - many thanks for sharing the amazing places in Spain :)
James and Yoly- thank you again and again for your wonderful channel! I have a few suggestions for future videos if you will indulge me ...…. 1. Do you have friends in other parts of Spain (Valencia, just sayin) that could take you both around and you could explain the regional differences in culture and food 2. Also, to represent the warmth of the Spanish people...…..maybe do so real time "encounters" ( as tourists, as a person learning the Language, etc) I'm sure you'll make it interesting! Kindest regards!
Hi, James! Terrific video. They get better, every time. I do have a comment, though, because i'm that guy, who likes to nitpick other people's hard work. Even though the Spanish-English dictionaries and translation databases say a chuletón is a T-bone steak, it's actually not. This is a point of contention on the Wordreference forums because a lot of people take dictionaries as gospel, but lexicographers do sometimes make mistakes. A chuletón is a chop cut from the beef loin with the bone still on. There is no word in English for this because it can come either from the front end of the loin (lomo alto) or the rear end of the loin (lomo bajo). This means that technically it would be either a rib steak, closer to the French "côte de boeuf", or a bone-in strip steak if it 's from the "lomo bajo". A T-Bone or Porterhouse is a bone-in strip steak with the tenderloin attached. This is also the definition of a Bistecca alla fiorentina and this could very well be where the confusing stems from. A chuletón never has the tenderloin or "solomillo" attached. Therefore it cannot be a T-bone. Meat cuts are often quite difficult to translate because every country has a different butchery tradition. Terms and definitions can change even within the Spanish speaking world. Anyway, I could go on, but I know you've been bored since my fourth sentence. Keep up the great work. I'm looking forward to your upcoming videos.
@@spainrevealed Well, there's the rub. If you say rib steak or bone-in ribeye, you'll be right most of the time, but since it can also come from the other end of the loin, it could be a bone-in strip. I've not yet found a proper English term for it. The closest you can get is a "large steak cut from the loin". That's a bit of a mouthful. That being said, I think rib-steak is a good compromise. It's right at least 50% of the time which is a decent improvement from 0% of the time when using T-bone.
Hola James y Yoli! First, I am enjoying your series. I especially enjoy that you are getting out there, beyond Madrid and Barcelona, as cool as those cities are, but also seeing the off the track towns and small places. As far as paradors go, I took my daughter to Spain some years ago when she was about 10 and as a special treat, we stayed at el Parador de Siguenza, the fortress that became a bishop's palace. It is built, I mean built to last out of thick stone. Since we couldn't afford to stay and eat there, we walked through the snow, yeah it snows in Spain, down from the hill the fortress-palace to the active town below and found a super cool local place to eat. If you're going to try a Parador, give Siguenza a try.
Just love your videos. Now planning a 2 week tour of Extremadura in September. Have you ever been to Vejer De La Frontera in Cádiz Provence? I would highly recommend it! Keep up the enthusiasm and good work, your joy of Spain is infectious 😊
Yoly smiles, we all smile. My wife's family history is Espana. We will retire in Spain to live out the rest of are life together. It will be about 7 years or less from now. Can't wait. Sooooo hungry. Stay safe youngens.
Your comments about double dipping into the cheese refer to the great scene in a Seinfeld episode where George is confronted about double dipping into a cheese dip. Big fan of all you videos.
We have stayed at four Paradores--Santo Domingo de la Calzada, El Saler, Cuenca, and Toledo. When you go to Toledo and Cuenca, request a room with a view. Santo Domingo de la Calazada is the perfect place to explore the wine regions. Because you live in Spain, you can take advantage of the ofertas that they have from time to time--check their website!
Nice video! Extremadura trully has a lot to offer, it is one of my favourite regions. Paradores are really great, especially those that are historical sites, like castles and monasteries. It is so unusual to have the opportunity to enjoy these sites as the kings and queens of old did that I don't mind paying a bit more. If you go enjoy the breakfasts they are trully epic.
Paradors are a fun way to experience the history of a place. The prices depends on the season and the area. I’ve stayed in several throughout the country and if you register on the website, you can find very inexpensive deals (sometimes under €100). For 20% cheaper, try the Portuguese pousadas.
We loved our weekend amongst the cherry blossoms in the Jerte Valley! 🍒Where is the most spectacular place you've been in Spain?
Spain Revealed - James Blick Precioso ❤ I used to go there every year and watching this gave me so much happyness :)
For spectacular places I'd reccommend Ezcaray at La Rioja, in summer it's beautiful

Pyralis, you are ver right!!! La Rioja is a wonderful and amazing place where you can go whenever you want. Winter, spring or summer. Even in autumn, the best season for me, its landscapes have an incredible mix of beautiful colors from yellow to red. You'll love this land as I do.
You doubled dipped 😂😂😂seinfeld episode
You should go to Cudillero in Asturias, everywhere in Asturies: Cabrales, Candás, Gijón, Luarca
Sois geniales.
Gracias Pedro!

18:06 lol That reference to The Office. Wonderful! (And nice video btw!)
What a beautiful waterfall, I'm glad you found it. 🍒
In the inner Spain the past is alive and well matched with the current days.
Nice vid as is usual with your installs.
YES, PLEASE keep making your videos and the both of you guys. I love them!!! much love from NYC

enjoy!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this new vid. You two work it so well together. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Lauren!
Sencillamente espectacular.
Gracias!!
The perfect summary for Spanish holidays: "We feel disgustingly full but very happy".
We're going to Spain the next week, and I must confess I'm scared.
Great video, by the way, you're great!
WOW that is soooo beautiful!! I will definitely visit next year.
Awesome!!
Gran Blog ☺️
Viniendo de un español... Great videos... Great Work... and keep enjoying Spain.
Agua pura y cristalina, inolvidable.
Next time :)
Great video!! Keep on making these short road trips!!
Will do!
"Double dipping", from "Seinfeld" The good thing is, you did bring the most important thing 'the corkscrew' ;-) What a wonderful vacation, thank you for sharing... love use guys... Jimi

You guys are awesome, always wanted to go see Spain. In the meanwhile I'll keep watching your channel.
Every time I watch your videos I feel super hungry, even if I've just eaten! 😆 Enjoyed the uplifting music playlist as well as your journey!
Thanks - glad you liked it :)
¡Que paisaje más hermoso! Hay que comprar la huerta de cerezas. . . Beautiful countryside, and love the food, too! I lived in Argentina with my wife, where we had 3 sons, and we learned Spanish (with the Buenos Aires Argentine accent). Quisiera volver algún día. . .
Gracias !!
i really enjoy your videos! So enthusiastic and authentic!
Gracias!
Wow. Beautifully done. Love the travel style vlog. Chain for the horses for sure.
Great video and a lovely couple. Can't wait to come to Spain and enjoy all the good things i learned from your channel
Thank you!
Great video! Your love for each other and especially for Spain is contagious. By chance were you guys able to try patatera blanca while you were there?
Thanks you Andrew! We didn’t try it - next time!
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing this amazingly good video. Excellent job . Hugs
Thanks Mica!
Don't worry about the blanket. As long as you have the wine it is all good!!!!!
Love to watch your video~. Makes me want to move there... I love how you mix great food, view, culture and Spanish!!!
Migas are absolutely delicious 🤗🤗 a humble dish originally but delicious...
Ni James and Yoli,
Though 50% local, I enjoy your visions of Spain.
Te felicito : Un vídeo muy bonito, muy original, muy instructivo y muy relajante .
Lovely vid as usual. Thank you both!
Had this place "starred" on google maps, but this video moved it up on my list of must visits. And the Parador Hotel looks amazing!
Thanks for that!!!
so peaceful ! Yoly , i hope u will have a small video to share your favourite flamenco dancer or museo of flamenco in the future.
James and Yoly- thank you again and again for your wonderful channel! I have a few suggestions for future videos if you will indulge me ...….
1. Do you have friends in other parts of Spain (Valencia, just sayin) that could take you both around and you could explain the regional differences in culture and food
2. Also, to represent the warmth of the Spanish people...…..maybe do so real time "encounters" ( as tourists, as a person learning the Language, etc) I'm sure you'll make it interesting! Kindest regards!
Awesome video James!
Thank you!
Love your comment!! So I should probably say “rib steak”?
@@spainrevealed Well, there's the rub. If you say rib steak or bone-in ribeye, you'll be right most of the time, but since it can also come from the other end of the loin, it could be a bone-in strip. I've not yet found a proper English term for it. The closest you can get is a "large steak cut from the loin". That's a bit of a mouthful. That being said, I think rib-steak is a good compromise. It's right at least 50% of the time which is a decent improvement from 0% of the time when using T-bone.
Loved your video . Two beautiful people in a beautiful location.
My last picnic in Europe was in El Parce Del Retiro on a bench next to the man who plays the bell instrument. No picnic blanket required. 😉
I like it... a lot! Beautiful country... your corkscrew hasn't been forgotten!
exactly - didn't forget that!
Awesome video Timmy :) Seinfeld, Costanza and Timmy at funeral services. Greatest TV Show ever...you guys are coming in at a close second!
Me encantan vuestros vídeos, qué gran trabajo y qué majos sois, ¡abrazos desde Cartagena, Murcia!
Happy you found the water fall.
Congratulations on your videos. You two do a really professional, excellent job of them. I enjoy them tremendously and learn alot.
Thank you!
Ohhhh😍I have born in Tornavacas... a small place from Valle del Jerte...!!!!!
Best video sofar. Make sure to send a link to the tourist bureau and picknick blankets are over rated 😊
Thanks guys your brilliant what a lovely life visiting so many lovely places
I love this story!! I’m actually filming a video involving the Parador in Sigüenza in January!!
Beautiful video with a bonus George Costanza joke 😂😂🎉 I live in the Washington D.C. area and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom here too 😍
They’re gorgeous aren’t they!! And yes - a bit of Seinfeld !
You make the best videos, thanks!
Wow, it's beautiful. I live blossoms soooooooo much. Spring is my favorite season. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Just love your videos. Now planning a 2 week tour of Extremadura in September. Have you ever been to Vejer De La Frontera in Cádiz Provence? I would highly recommend it! Keep up the enthusiasm and good work, your joy of Spain is infectious 😊
Vejer is gorgeous! Check out Annie B’s cooking school - awesome classes in a beautiful Andalusian setting!!
Thanks for the tips :)
Love your videos! Keep it up 🤩
Thanks - glad you enjoyed it!
The best couple explore Spain
Cool video!! 🖖🏼😎
Paradors are a fun way to experience the history of a place. The prices depends on the season and the area. I’ve stayed in several throughout the country and if you register on the website, you can find very inexpensive deals (sometimes under €100). For 20% cheaper, try the Portuguese pousadas.
Thanks for the tip on the pousadas!
We’ll be expecting a vlog of that pousada trip!
