- Thanks very much for subscribing to the channel! These tips although focused mostly on Vietnam for this video can be used if you need to stay connected in Thailand, Malaysia, or almost anywhere else. I have been living and traveling for several years in Asia and these are the most helpful tips I believe I can pass on. Especially the recommendation to only purchase a sim card from the telecom branded store or location. I have purchased sim cards from airport kiosks and convenience stores and they have always proven to be unreliable. When you purchase from kiosks especially they will usually claim the plan is unlimited data, and mostly they are not lying. But, if you are a heavy user once they notice that you are consuming alot of data they will throttle the speed back, often to an extremely frustrating slow connection. Buy as much data as you think you'll need but also be aware that for many of these plans the data, for example 5GB, may only be valid for 30 days, at which time your account will go back to zero, no matter how much is left. There was a time when data on these accounts would be in effect for 6 months or more but I believe for the most part those days are gone.
I think the iVideo Pocket Wifi device is a great solution for those that are traveling with limited time and would rather order their data device online, pick up and drop off at a convenient location like an airport, and spend the rest of their trip enjoying sites, adventures, great food, and recreation. The iVideo Pocket Wifi can be used with up to 5 devices simultaneously, so if you're traveling with a partner, your family, or a group, it's convenient, and very affordable.
