the fact that most people would have stopped at just using vanilla equipment only but you went the extra mile and removed every beneficial change is prob the only reason i kept watching

If you have not tried calamity normally I would highly recommend giving it a go, I get the not liking change and learning stuff since I have similar issues but I try to think of it like "at one point I had to learn the thing I don't want to change so how is this different" .however based on the time you put in for making this mod adaptation I imagine you probably have given it a try.

I might give it a try after this challenge is over.
I've been stubbornly refusing to play with any kind of mod since Terraria 1.1 but back then the mods were way more rough.

@@potato4dawin1 so you are doing a challange for the mod,ruining your first impression by completly breaking the progression and spoiling most of the bosses?...yeah please dont,play the mod how it was intended first.
@@krzystajer5485 why should you care? if hes thoroughly enjoying the game like how it is, why should he play it with the "intentional game design" in mind? You are failing to take into account that hes not ruining it by playing like this. YOU just think he is, and judging by your negative response, you have played the game before. I personally adore the gameplay of calamity and QoL modded much more then the grindyness of vanilla terraria. I've for the first time watched "negative" content of modded by Sorbet Cafe on why he does not like modded terraria. makes some really convincing arguments for the grindyness of vanilla and mediumcore, not being objective bad but just majorly subjectively disliked.
Ramble, but TL;DR: invalid criticism.
@@alexskv4644 okay,i agree with the most things said here,however i think he should play calamity normally first as the challange he is doing is extremly tedious and unfair ESPECIALLY at the post moon lord part of the game and im afraid he might ruin his experience.

He didn't played *with* Calamity, he played *against* it
He went a step beyond just to play vanilla terraria, but with calamity bosses and enemys bc algorithm

Very impressive! A file for this would be kinda nice for the sake of mod mixing balancing. You know, if you like a more vanilla expirience, you should try thorium, it doesn't change vanilla at all besides adding to a few things like the goblin army and ocean.

Really good quality video, i definitely understand with the thumbnail thing. I think i clicked on the video because of the title if that helps :D
yeah, RUclips is all about "click through rate" and engagement. The last thumbnail looked great as a picture but it had purple colored The Hive Mind boss on the purple colored underground corruption background so it didn't stand out.

yup. a guy on the Terraria discord told me when I was asking about decompiling the mod.
How do you plan on beating post moonlord bosses? Moon lord weapons and celestial armor can really only take you so far.

I’m curious to see how far Zenith or other endgame vanilla weapons will take you post moon lord, especially with lunar armor
Surprisingly, the zenith itself, without changes, is post-yharon appropriate on its own. It just had its recipe changed by the mod.
This is actually a good point. @potato4dawin When you get to it, I'd suggest avoiding using Zenith after Moon Lord as it is not in line with progression. Seeing you enjoy the boss fights, I think Zenith would ruin their difficulty after Moon Lord. Not sure what the appropriate approach is for this challenge though. Perhaps use Calamity weapons until you get to post-Yharon? Or try to get post-Yharon with only Moon Lord drop weapons if you want to go the extra masochism route 💀

I don’t understand why people like vanilla terraria as much as they do. Sure it’s fun for the first couple playthrough but I find it extremely boring after that. I have played through calamity at least 7 times and it is far superior in my opinion. I can’t even play vanilla anymore because I hate the mechanics and lack of enjoyability. It feels stiff. I also hate corruption spread which is the biggest reason I don’t play vanilla anymore.
I understand the lack of enjoyment after the first couple playthroughs. Once you learn the bosses and mechanics then it does get quite predictable but personally I like the feel of the vanilla mechanics, even corruption spread. Maybe I'm just crazy though.

@@max7971 They feel super bland at this point. Calamity is so much fun because it feels like a story. The lore and the designs of the weoposn and bosses just feels so new no matter how much I play it.
@@max7971 I think its more about vanilla terraria being really rough on replayability.
All the bosses, including stuff like daytime empress are pretty much only hard once.
After knowing the progression amd fights all that remains on subsequent playthroughs is the grind which is incredibly tedious and uneventful in vanilla.
I think the game is great but the replayability is quite low if you're not into building
