I like that they made an original character don the Ghostface, to me the whole point of Ghostface is *anyone* can be Ghostface and thats a big part of his scare factor. Any physically fit person with a mask, a knife, a black robe and the will to murder can be the Ghostface.
The scary thing about him, is under the mask, he's just a perfectly average looking man, who's all too capable of blending into society. He's not a hideously deformed creature or a raging psychotic, he's just the co-worker you occasionally talk to at the office He's a monster that hides in plain sight

Ok, but if Stu _was_ under the mask in a special DLC, it would be hilarious if everytime he got pallet stunned he would say "You hit me with the pallet, dick".

Could you imagine Billy and Stu realizing they're killing alongside Michael Myers, Leatherface, and Freddy Krueger? They'd be even more insufferable than they already are. Also, I'm a huge fan of Sidney Prescott, but I'm not sure I'd want to have to watch her getting gutted by her ex-boyfriend. @@zyibesixdouze4863 Problem is, DBD actually defies a lot of those rules (it's more efficient to split up, especially against killers who can injure a lot of people quickly; balanced landing encourages running upstairs during a chase) OR those rules apply to avoiding being brought into the world in the first place (Dwight got brought there after getting drunk / drugged by coworkers in the woods). There's next to no sexual content in the game itself so the "no sex" rule can basically be thrown out. There are some examples of people tempting fate, but again those were mostly pre-Entity.
One of my favorite things about Ghostface in DBD is that he fits PERFECTLY with the core idea of what ghostface in scream is: ambiguity. Ghostface is supposed to be anyone, literally anyone can be ghostface. The fact that DBD made the call to put a random man behind the mask fits perfectly with what the ghostface's before him was supposed to be
Fun fact, Ghostface is one of the few masked killers who doesn’t have a face modeled under the mask. Trapper, Huntress, Legion, Nurse, Oni, etc. all have faces… Ghostface does not. We don’t know what he looks like, and it’s possible we never will. Spooooky…
Danny's way of carrying out his murders reminds me of a real serial killer whose name i can't remember, but did the same thing as him, aka: metodically stalking his victims for days, learning routines and preparing the ground for when he actually decided to attack, and then doing so.
@@ryokiritani4187 Danny Johnson kinda reminds me of the zodiac killer. Purposely recording his crimes on the newspapers just for the sake of attention.
@@ryokiritani4187 Dunno if you meant him since a lot of serial killers stalked their victims at some point in their "career" but his methods remind me of BTK a lot. 1. Both were narcs writing to the press, seemingly thinking their murders were the best thing since sliced bread. 2. Both stalked their victims, and killed them sadistically in their own houses. 3. Both photographed their murders. 4. BTK used to cut alarms and phone lines in his victim's houses before entering. That just seems like something Ghostface would 100% do. Granted, BTK was less meticulous and overall less clever but yeah.
The Ghost Face, while not from the Scream franchise, is somehow more terrifying than most Ghostface killers. Thankfully, BHVR actually do give the Scream franchise some respect; they reference the fact that there have been more than one Ghostface in Dead by Daylight lore. In Ghost Face’s “City Slicker” cosmetic, it states that its an urban take on Ghostface’s shroud; and that "Any Ghostface killer should’ve worn it". The fact that the devs imply that Danny Johnson is not the only Ghostface is neat, because it shows that the devs want to tie the Scream franchise into DBD through this one character. The events of Danny’s murders take place in 1993, which is 4 years after the first Scream movie was released. So, in a way, Dead by Daylight’s Ghostface is basically the prequel to Scream.

I think Danny almost seems like a modern day Ripper. The careful planning, stalking and killing, then boasting to the media about his gruesome endeavors gives major Jack the Ripper vibes.
Fun fact: it can be argued that GF is the only killer that didn't need his mind to be corrupted to kill endlessly, he's probably the most aware and sane killer. He didn't need any otherwordly conviction more than just being given his suit and his knife, he just enjoys killing that much.

That blows my mind if it’s true, Michael Myers is a horror icon, arguably the most iconic besides Jason, you would think John Carpenter would ask for a huge licensing price for the character.
Also people tend to forget that the Ghost Face from the movie's weren't really stalkers. Sure they hung around outside the house and called on the phone that isn't the same level as stalking a prey. There's a reason the Ghost Faces from the movie go on a chase and fall down stairs. Danny's power wouldn't work for them. For a movie accurate Ghost Face the power would have to be something with sprinting and being able to dive over windows or pallets. You miss causing the killer to hit the floor and while getting back up the survivor can make distance. Movie Ghost Face isn't stealthy.
Yeah, he goes into detail about how it's likely the Legion was directly inspired by the ghost face in the movies. Your second paragraph describes exactly their power
All other Ghostface killers: *exist* Danny Johnson: Hold my camera, chumps. Lemme show you how an artist creates his masterpiece, not a kindergarten drawing that anyone could do.
I can imagine a situation where Ghost Face and Michael Myers would target the same group of survivors. Danny sees Michael out in the open and stalking his victims and Danny thinks: "Amateur". Ghost Face then starts observing his prey and taking pictures, searching for the right moment to strike. When he checks on Michael, he finds that the Shape is gone, much to his surprise.
To me, this version of GhostFace is what the killers in the Scream movies could've been if they weren't in a semi-parody slasher movie: a ruthless serial killer that kills for no reason other than the sake of it, and does it effectively.
there's also the fact that I can completely picture this version of GhostFace as a Scream killer in his earlier years, like no matter how hard you might plan you're never going to pull something off perfectly so he must've had a couple of close shaves and clumsy moments, even in his lore it's stated that investigations were starting to point towards him before he left Roseville so despite all his planning he's still not 100% perfect DBD Ghostface has clearly been doing his thing for a long time but everyone starts as a complete beginner.
Honestly the killers in Scream aren't serial killers (except Mickey) tbf, they're spree killers and pretty good at it until they reveal themselves/go against Sydney. Roman had I think 9 kills under his belt which isn't really something to scoff at
I’d like to play him more but I just can’t get used to his hit box. For some reason his lunge just feels really short to me. I whif more attacks with Ghostface than any other killer. I like this Ghostface because he is good at killing, and he enjoys doing it. It's a game for him, and his reason for killing doesn't come from some soap operish circumstances. Ghostface is scary and awesome in DBD because he isn't some teleporting lady or demigorgon, but rather an average looking evil man that enjoys killing. That realism is what makes him so cool.
The scariest thing about DBD's ghostface is he intentionally has the same name as the real serial killer the first scream movie was loosely based around (the Gainesville ripper)
I love Danny as a character, especially with the fact that he's basically just Ghost Face if Scream wasn't a satire. Ghost Faces of Scream movies past were always noted to have spied on and stalked their victims before striking at the perfect opportunity, just like Danny does. The difference lies in Danny just doing it better. It's such a smart play on the classic Ghost Face tropes. On the subject, I would still love a Scream chapter that brings in some cool map and Sydney Prescott. I want to see how Sydney deals with a professional Ghost Face, one much worse than any she fought before. Plus, she's one of the best survivors from the classic slashers, alongside Nancy Thompson and Laurie Strode. Ones that were smart enough to fight back and look cool doing it. I'd pay money for that, easily.
As a fan from the Scream franchise, I love DbD's take on Ghostface. He earns that "The" at the start. When you compare it to the Scream's Ghostfaces, he is THE Ghostface. The way they blent their concept for the killer makes it that you can see respect for the originals to the point of knowing some things wouldn't work and letting them out. This is a Ghostface Billy and Stu would admire and I love it
Getting Sydney herself as a solo dlc survivor like ash would be awesome solely for how much of a challenge She and Danny would be for each other and the dynamics would be pretty interesting

The Clown isn't derived from Pennywise - he's a riff on Gacy. Hawk's makeup and power are even derived from Pogo the Clown and Gacy's own relationship to intoxicants, even if one of the devs wasn't in on the parallels.
Due to the way Danny can blend into society so normally he reminds me a lot of Kira from Jojo’s part 4 Both are serial killers who live normal lives with normal jobs, being easily able to blend into society

I'm watching this after the Danny Johnson tome entry was teased on DBD Leaks. I'm beyond excited, and this video sums up exactly why. Danny is everything a killer in DBD should be; he's scary, he's competent, but he's also *human*. When around half of DBD's killer roster is "people who were not evil in any way but were just caught in the wrong place/wrong time and want revenge", if not more than half, it's great to see someone who is a bonafide killer. I can only hope that Danny's entry in Tome 13 does him justice, but I've been pretty pleased with all of DBDs tomes as of late (barring 12, which I haven't had the time to farm for yet), so my expectations are fairly high. Tomes 9-through-11 have all been really solid.

Danny taunts the journalists and police with selfies of the murder scenes, and the Zodiac Killer sent cyphers. -They're both thrill killers, murderers who are only motivated by the adrenaline rush they get from taking a life. -And speaking of motive, the Zodiac Killer claimed that the people he killed would become his slaves in the afterlife. What did the Entity give Danny? Endless Survivors for him to hunt, in a world that could be mistaken for an afterlife similar to hell. -And of course, like the Zodiac Killer, the Ghost Face never got caught.

I also think it's cool that dbd made it's own Ghostface because with Scream each movie has different killers so Billy or Stew returning wouldn't line up with the whole legacy aspect like Danny does

I love the idea of reimagining a character because it’s already been copied, and I’ve been trying to think of how Behavior might deal with already having the Clown and implementing Pennywise as a killer. I was thinking instead of making Pennywise a clown killer Behavior could try to make him ‘every’ killer. One of Pennywises main abilities was to morph into your biggest fear, what if in DBD he were to change into change into any one of the killers already in the game. It could either be an active ability he can use, or maybe each Survivor would see their own killer they were released with. It’s just a concept of what he could be, but it sounds like such a fun killer idea.

Just add Cindy from the Scary movie franchise and it'll be a lot more funny
Spooooky…
It's entirely possible that he's the _original_ Ghostface, before Billy and Stu. Perhaps he also inspired the Legion.
If Danny was in the first Scream movie i don't think Sydney would've survived the first attack.
TBF, I think Billy and Stu wanted Sidney to survive that first attack.
@@kimberlyterasaki4843 yeah they were trying to hurt her psychologically instead of physically

Real answer: the Halloween costume license was cheaper than Scream's and most people can't tell the difference anyway.
That blows my mind if it’s true, Michael Myers is a horror icon, arguably the most iconic besides Jason, you would think John Carpenter would ask for a huge licensing price for the character.
Not only that but if they bought the scream license they'd have to buy the costume license anyway so they bought just the costume and rolled with it
Hell there's people who couldn't tell the difference between Ghostface in Scream and Scary Movie
@@CountOfMonteCristo_ That's not what he meant by "Halloween costume." He's not talking about Michael at all.

Danny Johnson: Hold my camera, chumps.

To me, this version of GhostFace is what the killers in the Scream movies could've been if they weren't in a semi-parody slasher movie: a ruthless serial killer that kills for no reason other than the sake of it, and does it effectively.
there's also the fact that I can completely picture this version of GhostFace as a Scream killer in his earlier years, like no matter how hard you might plan you're never going to pull something off perfectly so he must've had a couple of close shaves and clumsy moments, even in his lore it's stated that investigations were starting to point towards him before he left Roseville so despite all his planning he's still not 100% perfect
DBD Ghostface has clearly been doing his thing for a long time but everyone starts as a complete beginner.
Honestly the killers in Scream aren't serial killers (except Mickey) tbf, they're spree killers and pretty good at it until they reveal themselves/go against Sydney. Roman had I think 9 kills under his belt which isn't really something to scoff at

@@Ghostface2252 the video got it wrong. Just because the killers in the movie can actually be fought against doesn't make them a joke?
I like this Ghostface because he is good at killing, and he enjoys doing it. It's a game for him, and his reason for killing doesn't come from some soap operish circumstances. Ghostface is scary and awesome in DBD because he isn't some teleporting lady or demigorgon, but rather an average looking evil man that enjoys killing. That realism is what makes him so cool.
The scariest thing about DBD's ghostface is he intentionally has the same name as the real serial killer the first scream movie was loosely based around (the Gainesville ripper)
I knew that The Gainesvilles first name was Danny but never knew his last, that's pretty neat
I want to see how far they can go with the archives. Someone like Freddy will never get one. But I still want to see how they explore the stories of the others. Bill is probably gonna get one. Bill _will_ get an archive, its been recently confirmed by DBDLeaks today.
I think Saw, Stranger things , Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Silent Hill, and Ghostface will all be in the archives eventually
Im pretty sure ghostface will get an archive too since behavior seems to have a good relation with funworld too, judging by how much creative freedom they get (even being able to make that ghosface blight cosmetic, where there isnt even a funworld mask to see anymore)
@@Jari_Kir ghostface is the first killer to get a blighted cosmetic because he's an original character, his story was created by bhvr, the only licenced thing about this killer is the mask, replace the mask and the name and you get an original killer on legal terms

He is a very rare and likeable breed in the deadbydaylight game. He's my favourite character to play
Fun watch, Danny's character definitely influences how I personally play GF, and its nice to see the differences between him and the killers from the movie being brought to light.
in my opinion Jed is the perfect representation of ghostface, because ghostface is not only the person that use the suit, ghostface is the representation of fear. A nightmare that not matter what you do, it will always be there watching you until you see him behind, and that’s why Danny is a peridist, beacuse he doesnt only kill people he use they to write news that make the people fear of him, that is why he doesnt hide at all, because when he is capture by a camara we him see to enjoying it, beacuse every foto, sound, smell his victims feel, see or hear make them more hopeless, a perfect killer for the entity.

-Ghostface wears a black cowl as a disguise. Would-be Zodiac victim Bryan Hartnell saw the Zodiac Killer's disguise first hand; a black executioner's cowl.
-Both of them taunt the people trying to catch him.

I'd love to see a movie with this Ghostface, would be great
Honestly, I think Danny was in the core non licensed universe as a killer who thrived for a while in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s mysteriously disappearing as soon as he came leaving blood and a mystery behind him.
I think it'd be weird to add Billy or Stew considering in Scream they reference stuff like Halloween and Texas chainsaw as just movies meaning having them in the same sorta universe as Meyers and Leatherface would be a bit odd. I also think it's cool that dbd made it's own Ghostface because with Scream each movie has different killers so Billy or Stew returning wouldn't line up with the whole legacy aspect like Danny does
That is true, however, franchises like Halloween are considered “fiction” within Stranger Things as well, so there’s sort of a problem.
@Horny the Clown Totally forgot about stranger things for some reason, but yeah that does have the same sorta problem not that it's a big deal just a little confusing lore wise if you care about that type of stuff

The only thing about the Clown unique to himself from Gacy is that he ran a Traveling Circus, Gacy ran a construction company.
I love the content it’s great stuff I do have a question though do u have a video that tackles the lore of the game itself so far the videos I have watch are about the characters lives before the entry but how about while in the void how do the survives deal with the trails do they have plans to escape how about the killers do they realize that their in a endless loop or is it more like their encounters in the void if u die here do u come back like nothing happened if so do u remember
I like how like when you drop a palette on his face he just goes
**siiiiiiiiiiggggggggghhhhhhhh** I’ve been doing this for 30 whole minutes and there will never be a smile on my face.
Then you just look at Myers and he’s just like
*AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH!*
I would love to know your take on the netflix scream adaptation fitting on dbd (I'm only curious about the 1st season btw) since there's many similarities between both ghost faces (on the methods and tone, not the motivation)
I tried to get into the second season but kinda gave up
it just started to loose it's allure to me personally
@@reelgesh51 oh definitely, the second season sends you on so many wild goose chases and the killer didn't have that much substance compared to the first season
I've been considering watching it, is the first season good?
The first season is great, the second is nice and the halloween special is kinda meh
This was a really cool and well thought out video! I do have one question, and its on an *extremely* minor detail in the video. I am newer to the DBD community (joining around the time of the Twins) so it may be me knowing this, but were people really expecting Clown to be Pennywise? everything about him screams "Hi, I'm a Great Value John Wayne Gacy" to me, and he does that job very well. Was it just the lead up of a clown killer that folks thinking "oh this is Pennywise"?
I just find it funny that I've the hots for two masked serial killers who treat their kills with fun because they're just that good at it, and see it as a work of art.
Jhin..
Jhin from LOL say that?
@@jonathanrobles1734 what no that as no quote, that was a comparison

I wouldve absolutely loved billy loomis or stu as ghost face but just the way they describe his murders and how he was reporting on his own crimes is so scary and awesome. They did a great job
Whenever I as a trans see a gamer channel who will outwardly call terfs scum, 10 years are added onto my lifespan.
No seriously mate it makes me so happy to see that kind of disclaimer, it can be hard as a queer in the gaming community. Thank
this was so great! i’m glad i found your channel recently. can’t wait to watch your channel grow :)
Hmm the way you described Danny reminded me of dexter. Only Danny will kill anyone and dexter only kills other serial killers.
You hit the nail on the head when you talked about how licensed and original characters can sometimes clash because they are so similair.
I was saying the exact same thing with trapper, hes literally just jason. There is no way we can ever get jason in the game...because he already is. Theres nothing interesting they can do with him anymore, but maybe a full outfit skin would work.
Even though that was a counterfeit black lotus, it still hurt
"to Be battered tossed into furniture and pushed down stairs..."
Sounds like dead by Daylight
A power for Pennywise would definitely have to play up the supernatural elements of the killer clown idea. I like your idea of a shifting menace that Survivors have to individually deal with.
@@PixelBush Exactly one of Pennywises main weaknesses was when the kids, or adults, worked together to take him down. I’d love a killer who forces more teamwork between the survivors in order to escape.
The shang tsung of dbd basically
@@shugokiisop1682 I was thinking just the visual part to confuse survivors, having to juggle all of the killers abilities would probably be too overwhelming to play. But that would still be super sick.
The face for Ghost Face is licensed but they didn't want his story and whatnot in the game. So his face IS but they were just stingy and basically said "ok, you can use his face but that's about it." Not to mention Ghost Face could be anyone. That didn't used to make sense to me but after thinking about it, it does.
Sad they didn't use a survivor but I love Ghost Face either way. The movies are actually my favorite set of horror movies!
Holy shit just bought the ghostface dlc yesterday. Love his lore and gameplay so much and i am happy you made a video on him :d
