The word 'High' in Vic High country is there for a reason. We've all been caught out by the steepness of it at some stage or the other. As long as people have a well set up vehicle and some off road experience they should be fine. Even then some steep descents used to give me the shivers. Loved the episode guys, awesome coverage.
Another great episode, the beautiful and challenging trails the beauty of nature itself, the good people the rigs are awesome and off course the mountain trail rv, this is one of my favorite seat to watch marathon, thank u for this episode and i expect more great episodes from you guys
When watching your video (which I enjoyed by the way) I was a little surprised to see you towing trailers up to blue rag, it is a steep but beautiful drive. But I was even more surprised to see you leave talbotville and have lunch in dargo on the way to wonnangatta station. Maybe you have mistakenly thought wonnangatta river campsite (near eaglevale) was the station. (or the map did). It is quite a drive into wonnangatta from eaglevale. and you could have just done it from talbotville. Would have meant a more relaxing day, but perhaps not as much content :-) Glad you didnt tow those campers down hern spur. Wombat range is longer but safer with a camper. Thanks for the video.
Low speed towing on steep grades with the torque converter constantly slipping will build tremendous heat and will destroy your automatic transmission. A transmission temperature gauge and a high quality cooler with its own fan are a must have in those situations? If you can go fast enough so the converter lock up clutch is engaged most of the time the heat is greatly reduced.
Some tough tracks tackled well with camper trailers 👍 As for the bit where you're taunting the invertigo challenge lady in the 200 series "we're in new cars . . Yours is 6 years old" . . . . . Holy crap it's a Toyota FFS . . . . . Say no more! Built to actually last 🤣😂 I'd have more faith in my 24 year old Prado than a ranger 😜 Then the patrol is giving issues up top of the hill 😜
Great video...I've been to the Eaglevale camp ground many times and I have been on many of the tracks in that area, including the infamous Billy Goat track several times. We tow our LXV 5.8 MT caravan to the Eaglevale camp ground and use that area as our base.

Love the vid of the iconic Vic High Country towing those vans - (that petrol v8 is too noisy) Those tyre deflators can give you issues if the valve does not reset correctly. Try the Indeflate
Not sure how one can get lost from Eaglevale to Wonnangatta ......all you have to do is cross the river and take the left turn at every junction. Pretty steep couple of tracks, great country to drive.
somehow, we did... worked that out when we had to do a u-turn at the Noel Track turn off... Lucky the track was dry otherwise we would not have made it.
This is the sort of holiday that I picture having with a 4wd. I wouldn’t mind doing some more challenging 4wd tracks but mostly this stuff. Also I’m curious what drone you were using?
Thanks for watching. We have 2 x DJI Mavick 3 Pro's. Sometimes we lose them and need back ups. We lost one at the start of the Cape York episode and we mention it during that episode! We also crashed one in the American vehicle episode, which we show at the end.
We didn't damage the track, we had no wheel spins to tear it up. The tracks get damaged by vehicles with bigger tyre sizes that don't have modern technology, as they can lift a wheel and gauge the track which causes deep ruts.
Hi guys, just found your channel and i thinks it's great except the constant music makes it unwatchable for me. I watch these type of videos to feel like I'm there with you but the music ruins that. I prefer just to hear the nature, the chit chat or the sound of the engines.
Nick, a great trip and video production that's got me itching to go and tackle myself! Glad to see you back in a Patrol. Bought my Moonstone White Ti six months ago - tks, used your previous vid's as inspiration to buy and very happy it with the 13K km's travelled. FYI, the factory rear diff lock auto dis-engages when over 15km/hr, fitted the KO-GEAR override unit in mine. Curious your transmission overheated, perhaps with all the bar-work and big lights up front it's restricting cooling airflow - I fitted a Scangauge III and its sitting on the dash and can continually monitor Transmission Temp and many other things (oh and a gives me an accurate digital speedometer readout). I know it wasn't a review but three very popular tow vehicles rowing the same camper trailer, each with two pax on-board would be a great recipe to compare things like fuel consumption, comfort, driver opinions etc.
Thanks John, good to hear our previous vids helped with your decision to buy a Patrol. The tracks were really steep, we would definitely need a transmission cooler if doing these keen of tracks regularly.

What a great experience - drone shot’s amazing
Epic. You made it look easy.

Awesome clip guys, great drive, a massive shout out to the editor well done 👌🏽👌🏽
Thanks Charlie, it was an epic adventure in the High Country. Editor did really well, it as a hard edit with 12 cameras!
Great footage especially the drone shots. Might have take the Rav4 for a spin on some of the flatter trails.
the Dargo High Plains Rd from Mt Hotham to Dargo is a great drive in the summer!
Great veiwing. I was down there a month ago. Travelled some of the same tracks.
Looks like we're both on the right track when it comes to adventure!
Hi Guys great channel and great videos. Which vehicle do you prefer? The Landcruiser 300 or the Patrol Y62 and why. Once again great Videos

Love the Video!! Keep the lovely adventures going....!
Ahhh... I have had the HEMA maps app on my tablet for 10yrs now. Do not need mobile phone coverage for it to work. Pretty hard to get lost using it.

Great trip. I need to get my camper out there soon.
I'd be interested in a comparison of fuel usage across the three vehicles for this kind of trip.
Yes always wonder how much fuel each vehicle use especially since they are towing as well.
❤wow just awesome 👌
Thanks!

That's awesome Garry! We were lucky that it was dry on the climb out of Eaglevale... But wow! What a track!
awesome adventure, great shots
3:25 weird flex but okay 😂
Awesome video guys
It was like an episode of old school TopGear, except unlike them, you love camper trailers 😂

Hi, nice episode. Ome question, how is the Nissan compared to the TLC300 GR in terms of sound isolation, comfort and off road capabilities?
They are both very capable. If I had to choose, i would probably pick the Toyota...
Good video. You fit a lot in. Great gear, great scenery, great women and great food! Video is about 35 minutes too long for my attention span, though
Glad you enjoyed it
Towing trailers on Blue Rag or Wonnangatta Station tracks.. but why would you damange the tracks with those heavy rigs?
We didn't damage the track, we had no wheel spins to tear it up. The tracks get damaged by vehicles with bigger tyre sizes that don't have modern technology, as they can lift a wheel and gauge the track which causes deep ruts.
Wow you towed a trailer up a hill been doing it for years with land Rover D2 TD5 with camper trailer
Awesome trip guys!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wouldn't like to do it towing, would be a bugger to turn around in spots.
It can definitely be a challenge and limited areas to turn around!
What screw in pegs are they?

Did the Patrol transmission settle down when cooler?
Yes, it got hot! All back to normal when cooler. Thanks for watching.

Love it.

You have found an Australian video shot in the Alpine area of Victoria.

Hi. Does the raptor have 35s? Did it need a lift?
It does have 35x12x17. No lift, all stock apart from airbags in the back to alleviate the down ball load of the camper.
Where can one buy this camper?
check it out on our website - www.mountaintrailrv.com.au
Try that trip in your EV!
The V8 did very well on this trip.
Campers should not be taken into these areas.

Why would you be in drive towing up a hill for anyway
