    For those wondering how DTG washes, it depends how you print your garment, how well you pretreat it/cure the garment, and the quality of ink you’re using. We wash our DTG prints (and put them in the dryer) with no problems at all. DTG makes printing a breeze.

    • @BpKoksan
      @BpKoksan 2 года назад +5

      Depends a lot on the t-shirt too. Lots of higher quality inks and pretreatements are falling after few washes missleading people, who blame the ink brand, but it's the t-shirts that fails the good print. There is difference between cotton and "cotton".

    I used Printful to print a multi-colored design via DTG and I was not very impressed with how the design faded after each wash, nor did I like the chemical smell that the shirt had when I first opened the packaging. Moving forward, I think that I'm gonna only use screen printing. Great Video!

    DTG looks great the first time you wear it....but then it gradually starts falling apart with every wash. Screen printing is far more durable. I have screen printed tee shirts that I have literally worn for 20 years and they still look fine. The images on my DTG shirts started flaking off within ONE YEAR, even with cold water wash and gentle dry.

    I work with both screen printing and dtg and while dtg has higher resolution than some screen printing processes the dtg is very limited in what you can print. Some dtg machines won't take vector files and you are limited to the type of garment you can print. Overall I'd rather stick with screen print because of the speed, durability, and the ability to print on more types of garments

    I'm a screen printer!
    In reference to screen printing:
    "There are three to four blues in this artwork but we simplified it down to 1."
    "And that's where we're going to see the biggest difference between this and DTG."
    One of the advantages of getting your artwork screen printed is that you can use more vibrant colors. A screenprint can use multiple blues, whereas DTG only uses 1 blue.
    Question: Why the 45 line screening? I do 50 for manual printing; can't you do at least 55 for automatic machines?
    I don't think this was a fair comparison.

    I have sent numerous photos of mine to printers and they are just about the same to me. If you are using 1 - 2 colors, you can go way faster with screen and I get that. But if you want a realistic tee, DTG preserves that. A lot of my clients do want the cartoonish look of hand-drawn art. A screen printer told me recently that the top of the line DTG machines are going to be around $50k and will need new heads several times a year and they are $1K each. I suppose you could start out with a $15K machine at first or two and then work up to the high-end stuff.

    I think they purposely screen printed these at such a low lpi to make the DTG print look superior just to push sales. Output at a higher lpi, burn on higher mesh counts and you can make the DTG look bad in comparison.

I use Wiliflex spot process plastisol occasionally when sep studio separated. I also use InkSeps CWB plastisol but it doesn’t matter which I use all are going to look like your dtg but be done in a tenth the time.

    Johnathan Macaw is correct. If and only if, you are doing a design with multiple colors AND also a very intricate design like the one used in the video, you would more than likely have to go with DTG Printing. With that said, Silk Screening is hands down, KING. It is superior over and above all other forms of printing. And here is some more VERY important information when it comes to using DTG Printing. DTG machines print using cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK). When you convert an amazing looking digital file from RGB to CMYK, (the designs you create on your computer use RGB) many colors go “out of gamut.” Simply put, they can't be reproduced using just CMYK. In my opinion, any company that uses DTG, especially for Drop Shipping, should make it loud and clear what problems can arise when printing shirts. Maybe they do now, not sure. But if you didn't know, now ya know. I hope I am saving people from a whole lot of problems they didn't know exists with DTG Printing Technology. Finally, the video was great in its ability to show a difference when someone has to deal with such intricate art work.

    • @activistsupply6635
      @activistsupply6635 6 лет назад +3

      Shirt Agency headache? You’re comparing. Make it honest. You are putting 45 lpi up against a digital printer? You need to keep the Roque rocking. I’m all about Rocking with Roque and powering the print. I wish Ryonet wouldn’t even sell those dtg printers. But they have to do what they have to do. You won’t catch me with one. I have a small run system established that flies and let’s face it. That would be the only advantage of dtg, for small runs. You’re kidding yourself making it about quality. I choke my base and interlock my halftones. I have accurip and sep studio but on a print like that I would manual sep It and hit it at 65 lpi.

      @BELLACANVASOFFICIAL  6 лет назад

      Screen printing is a little bit more durable after multiple washes. Some people find more fading with DTG, but if you get the settings right with DTG you can eliminate some of those differences on the wash test front

      look into the M&R M-Link X i have my own sample prints sent to me from M&R and i can't even touch the quality and feel of the print with screens. Don't forget these machines use CMYK inks to print so if your creating designs in RGB on your computer, your screen is backlit and using colours that are not in the pantone range. Certain colours will be altered due to limitations in CMYK.

    I can see one person's comment about "how DTG washes" and that me wonder why the interviewer did not ask the printing person .. Which process produces an image holds up better to general wear or repeated laundering??? Okay, I just saw your follow-up video, where the printing guy spends several seconds talking about "washability" and "the traditional feel" being better with screening. I know it's asking a lot, but since you're grinding out videos, maybe you could show the comparison between a repeatedly washed, screened shirt and a DTG-printed shirt that's been exposed to the same number of washings.

  • @emosteve6816

      It doesn't. Screen printing can give you a lot more than you can see here in this vid. They showed the worst, just to sell you DTG and etc.
      Best is to have both to be fare

    which method do those vintage style Johnson Motor Company shirts use? Yuu can not feel the print, feels like the rest of the shirt and its very light saturated so you can look trough it. I can not imagine its DTG and it isnt sublimation as well because its cotton. So i guess its like a screen print but very lightly done, i dont know if thats possible. Just curious because i have some shirts from them.

      Sure! all our fabrics are great for screen printing and DTG. But if we HAD to rank...100% cotton performs the best for both, followed by heather CVC, then triblend and flow.

      doxrox4 definitely. Wondering why they didn't go 55 lpi. I feel like we could pull a print pretty similar to dtg. I would like to do this as a discharge UB with all WB colors. Hand and durability would be greater than DTG. I also print high end dtg, but can outprint dtg all day in quality and durability.

    Screen printing is ART and holds more value to me. If you sell DTG more than a screen printed tee that's a rip off to me. I'll gladly buy a $50 screen print but would never buy DTG for more than $30.

    One thing i dont like with graphic t shirts is when the print is too thick and stiff... lol. anyway, im wondering if one of these printing methods has more of a light feel almost like its part of the shirt?

    • @BELLACANVASOFFICIAL
      @BELLACANVASOFFICIAL  2 года назад

      With larger graphics like this, it does feel a little thicker especially on a darker shirt. If you print with DTG on a white or light colored shirt - the print will feel much more a part of the fabric.

  • @Letubemane

    • @BELLACANVASOFFICIAL
      @BELLACANVASOFFICIAL  6 лет назад

      We don't look at the two as better or worse - each printing technique serves a different purpose! Screen printing is great for high volume, where as DTG can be better for lower unit or orders with tons of colors

    • @johnfredrik5345

      You are definitely a newbie than. Screen printing has better quality.

    • @BELLACANVASOFFICIAL

      Hey Venancio! Cole suggests avoiding putting CMYK on anything that isn’t white for a better color control and a smoother finish with simulated process.

    • @VenancioCatimon
      @VenancioCatimon 4 года назад

      BELLA CANVAS cmyk is 100% able to print on dark colors. Lay down a white base with a low bleed plastisol then the cmyk colors on top of that. Of course the white has to be flashed first and if the cmyk are actual cmyk colors they should be thin. I would recommend wilflex ink

      Derick Bryant .You are living in the past. For best quality DTG wins hands down. I would not wear a screen print pile of paint. Mass quantities where quality is not issue then screen printing will do for the cheapie t shirt.
