The actress they chose to play Mary Shaw is amazing. She is absolutely terrifying, beautiful, elegant, graceful, sophisticated and very talented. I can't see anyone else in that role.
Elias Chic Ehh, not really. If not him, it would've been someone else. I don't know why, but people love to ruin a good thing. I mean honestly, I don't care if the ventriloquist's mouth Is moving, I just pay attention to the dummy.
THAT’S WHAT THE FUCK I’M SAYING!! Like no hate for her art form.. But like did you HAVE to get the doll that looks like it was designed by hot topic employees on halloween?? That doll is pure nightmare fuel by itself
jrpone I understand how she knew Henry’s name, since his seat was chosen to have Billy under she probably asked before the show the name for whoever purchases the ticket for this seat. But I don’t understand how she knew Michael’s name, I guess maybe because it’s a small town and she happens to know him?
Ikr? When i watched the movie Goosebumps.. I saw Slappy and i thought it of a mixture of billy and chucky... :P puppet for the billy part.. Moving around freely and talking more like a gangster is the chucky part..
+ScarFace 290 I don't see slappy being a mixture of chuky and billy...chucky *I don't know about billy* has intentions to kill, slappy doesn't. besides in the episode where he has the guitar and....yeah... but that aside, I don't see any resemblance.
+Peridot you obviously don't know Slappy then he's the entity to ask for chaos and submission. If you recall he can not be destroyed as he had possessed corporeal humans and others.
Erik P.T. I've only read the books. I still can't compare him to the others. *still hate how the first book is all about Mr wood, and only mentions slappy in the ending pages*
+Peridot Slappy has tried to kill people before. He has tried to kill Jimmy O' James by pulling his head off... and he tried to kill a kid (called Ray) by attempting to cut his head off with a Hedge Trimmers... Also, Slappy kills the main character in the Goosebumps games (but only if you get a game over).
Despite how creepy Billy is, I sort of felt bad for him here. Not to mention that all the crazy things that happened in this movie could've been avoided if the smartass kid kept his mouth shut.
3:43 The music combined with Mary Shaw staring directly at the camera is pure horror genius cause I love how that ominous feel overshadows the applause she receives for her show.
Ventriloquists in the old world used to claim the ability to channel spirits to speak and do the voices for them...Thats where the name came from. Mary was probably that kind of Ventriloquist. Which makes it even more creepy as when Billy starts talking at the same time Mary does...It was probably a spirit talking through Billy. Frankly, if I saw that, I'd run so far from that theater!
Although Billy is creepy, I feel bad for him because all he wanted was to be real. And if that smart ass kid would've kept his mouth shut, all of this would probably have never happened
I love this whole scene. Especially 2:59 ... That moment when his mouth hangs open and his eyes kinda subtly look around, as he's trying to process what was said is genuinely eerie.
Matthew Pascoe me 2 i was like 10 or 9 i was just searching action movies like mission impossible and then this movie GOD when i saw the wife corpse i freak out and since then i HATE DOLLS :)
Omar Elmosrati Those damn ventriloquist dummies have always creeped me out since back when I was a kid and I first saw that TV trailer for the movie 'Magic' with Fats the dummy back in 1978.

"Your lips are moving, I can see it!" Me: if your lips are moving! Your lips are moving! If your lips are moving then your lying lying lying baby! (First thing that popped into my head when he said that XD)
Honestly regardless of whether Mary's mouth had been moving or not, which it doesn't seem to have been, to blurt something out like that right in the middle of the show is extremely rude.
This is probably the only scene I can stand to watch without anyone in the room with me. All the others are very creepy, especially the one where henry is in the crawl space and the women shows herself. I jumped and peed myself!!!
I love that movie. There once was a woman named Mary Shaw. She had no children, only dolls. If you see her in your dreams, don't scream, or your tongue will be ripped out.
Yea that was my biggest complaint. They missed opportunities not expanding him more with his speaking. Could've added an entirely new aspect to an already creepy solid horror story.
This scene for me is horror gold. it doesnt need to have effects or something. just the idea behind it is enough to give you creepy vibes. although many people dont like this movie for its obvious tricks and the rest i think its 1 of the best movies... wish they could stick in more of the idea behind the dolls they could be so creepier :^D
what a talent in marry Shaw,,, she imitates very well in this scene n nobody can observe it. at the same played both characters . dummy is so beautiful innocent for her mother to be real human for his mother,, not for audience.

It was so creepy that I had to wake up my mother that night I heard the doll laugh and that was when I was screaming and running towards my mother's bedroom.
