Howdy. That Willys was originally released in the late 60s. Probably 1969. It's the Ohio George Montgomery coupe kit with a panel body that has a stock height roof. Even the interior is straight from the coupe with no rear interior. When it 1st came out, I painted mine bright yellow and added it to my gasser race team. I used stickers off Chiquita bananas for sponsor logos on them. 40 Ford Sedan Delivery, 37 Chevy Coupe, 68 VW Bug, and a couple others. I built mostly gassers back then when funny cars were all the rage, and gassers are still my favorite category of drag cars. I love to watch SEGA (South East Gasser Association) events on YT these days. Been hankering for another one of these, the current version available from Round 2 is the 1970s street rod version with wider front tires and side pipes. The original front tires were smaller as shown in the artwork. Narrow, but not as tall as the hot rocks in this version of the kit. The Lancia Stratos kit was originally released about 1980 when the full size car was racing in FIA Group 5 road racing. The kit was curbside with an electric motor then like most all Tamiya car kits. Hasegawa did a rally version with the Ferrari Dino V6 engine. In those days I worked at Mattel Toys and there was a guy I often saw in my morning commute who drove a Stratos.
