Being the toughest 4WD out there is something of a subjective matter, and difficult to nail down. But there is something else this 2019 #Iveco #Daily 4x4 is in the running for, and that’s being the most capable 4x4 off the showroom floor in Australia at the moment.
Is this the biggest and baddest 4x4 money can buy? Sam Purcell finds out.

Still cheaper and more capable than a made up 6x6 land cruiser.
heads up team... the 4x4 daily is not ment to be driven at 100km per hour for extensive periods of time.. the transfer case holds 2l of oil and over heats..
Yep, it’s a Euro truck. It’s not really meant to exceed 80km for extended periods, but, in my experience, handles 90 km well. The transfer case holds 3 litres of oil, you may need to add a cooler if doing lots of climbing, towing or extended high speed driving. I just monitor the temp through a gauge and back off before things get too hot. Works for me.
@@jasonblack4181 yep all depends on your salesman.. Iv seen that many tears over the years of working on these and the salesman never seems to tell people what the need to do or what they actually need for the job.. they're happy to take the coin whilst the mechanics have to deal with the after sales service of telling the customer they made the wrong decision on there purchase.. not only does Iveco do this with daily but also eurocargo and stralis
A good start for IVECO. I do hope IVECO will considering making pickup trucks range from compact size, mid-size, mid-full size and full-size pickup trucks. Currently only Volkswagen Amarok is the only European pickup truck, the rest are Japanese and American. IVECO have a very huge potential.
unfortunately to have the pickups you have to buy Fiat, there you have the possibility to take a Fiorino, a Strada or a Doblò but these are not suitable for off-road vehicles or the Italian copy of the Mitsubishi L200 or buy the Dodge Ram (you know Fiat group). Iveco made the Massif to cover that market, unfortunately it was a flop (I presume due to a poor marketing project)
Very cool Iveco, nice review.
Our Iveco is super decked out! This thing is a beast
Often used as a base for off-road campers in Europe, I have seen campers built on Iveco Daily 4x4 in Island, Germany, or France for instance.
I have a non-4x4 Daily camper, and this is the only vehicle I envy!
I been daydreaming of a 35s17 overlander ❤ @@poundedcake
Impressive!......good review.Thanks
Gostei desse veículo. Muito bom. Parabéns.
The sad part is that people who really need something like this (like me living in the remote Carpathians) can't afford it :(
@Sidewayyys I'm happy for you if this is not an issue there...but for most people is an issue.
@Sidewayyys and that's why I'm called DrunkBrain :))). I see now what you meant and I agree with you. I'm actually doing a lot of stuff that looked impossible...but haven't got that up yet and what I said is a reality for most people that have enough balls to live in remote areas, but don't have that kind of money to spend on a truck. True fact: when you choose this lifestyle, the possibilities of making that money ate reduced...they just don't go hand in hand. I often thought about it
@Sidewayyys thanks man! Agree again, I'm taping into those ideas as well while having a job online. This is how I live up here.
Btw, the further I got so far is a truck that costs 10% of this newer Iveco....still an iveco, but an older one. Looks really cool, but needs some work. There is a video about it on my channel :)
Walking in a mountain forest yesterday and what do the rangers drive by in . Yep one of these babies i wanted one immediately .
This is what I 'need' for my great beach fishing adventure in three year time. Long Service Leave.🤗
You have interesting posts🔥🔥
Worst decision i ever made was buying one of these. Don’t buy before reading up about the major electrical and suspension mount issues.
can confirm.. ex iveco mechanic here
Ouch
Can confirm current iveco mechanic
Can confirm future iveco mechanic
Can confirm.. not a mechanic
PLEASE bring this to the States, pleeeaaassseee
Park a Mercedes Unimog next to it and it looks like a Toy !!!! Sorry but the Unimog is probably the best factory built offroad machine hands down.
Yeah, this thing is too Top Heavy and I think it would rollover if you tried going off road
I'm pretty sure the a new unimog costs 10 times the Iveco.
Talk cost mate
Unimog is 5 times dearer. Mostly made to order, twice the weight and uses twice the fuel.
These things have their faults... It's Italian. But can be sorted out.
They're a truck, and handle like one. But utube the monkey track and you'll see this can go anywhere a cruiser can, and further in a lot of cases.
I guess buying one of these is your only buying a base, a good base but it needs work.
I love the unimog but respect to this Iveco for sure. Personally I think the G wagen ute is a more likely comparison, in which spec and cost is quite close, while the G wagen only has two speed transfer case, it comes with coil springs over the leaf on the Iveco.
Incredible
Keeping my patrol 👍🏼
Speaking of offroad capabilities vs price, you can get 3 used Mogs for the same amount of money for a new Daily.
@Jakob offroad capabilities have nothing to do with being used or new. It's either you can or not. Totally comparable.
@@tomhuang8368 quality too
I have one 👍👍👍👍👍 And it's the bees knees !! You can not stop it, It go's anyway. It can climb a gun tree.
🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 I've had it for two years now and I'm very very happy with it.
Perhaps, one of the best engine ever bild
Think not, mine's gone through 3 turbo's in 4 years time.
we need to get some of this cool stuff in Canada this will show the big three what a truck really is enough with the leather interior power every thing automatic transmission junk I wish that they would bring back the manual transmission
A base f-150 can tow more and costs 1/7th of the listed price
Canadian Army have Western Star LSVWs which are basically a licensed version of this Iveco (mk1 model).
@@ryane6719 I do love Ford pickups, but their off road capabilty and durability is less than 1/7 compared to this Iveco. This truck comes from the military VM90 get some info buddy
Cool Daily~
Are they also sold in Zimbabwe
soon as i win the lottery!!! LOVE IT
We get a 7 tonne GVWR version in Europe and an auto box
Does it have cruise control?
Australia GMC Topkick?
I want one. But an Unimog with portal axles is the biggest and baddest.
Not even in the same class.
One for the cashed up blue singlet brigade.
Cashed up Bogans are going to buy a Raptor not this thing.
Can somebody out there in Australia..please tell or inform him.. there's another similar vehicle like this..it's called the Mercedes Unimog! Hello there!!
looks a bit tall. might look like it could flip over with steeper climbs at Moab.
height doesn't concern, weight distribution does
Oh it has a Portal axle... like the Unimog. Since 1945...
Pretty nice. Shame you can't fit in Carparks and a more powerful engine would be nice.
Why can't it fit in car parks?
A Jeep Gladiator could be built up to that spec and a diesel is now available. Uhh, close to it.
where can you buy one of these I cant find them?
This title belongs on anything that contains an Oshkosh truck
Unless someone comes out with comparable performance of a unimog it isn't worth it.
you forget the MB unimog!!!
Here in Italy the price starts at 69k euro. The price for an used Iveco from 1996/1998 is around 20k-30k euro, for the one in good shape. The price is good, you have to consider that this is not a normal Suv that you use to take your children to school.

New truck 2019 price 32000 Euro
@@boomzoomovich yes,its cheap,but having experience with russian vehicles,there are always some issues...bad plastic interriors,rust issues,sensor problems,low quality parts(they do not fit,or not functional)..and always,...i mean always oil leaks.
Amen!
Este es el vehículo que todos debiéramos tener, a los señores de Iveco, los felicito por su trabajo, si me pudieran regalar uno se los agradecería muchísimo porque no tengo el dinero suficiente para comprarlo.
Can you get this in the USA?
Price Range?
I want one
One bad point which could be an issue is its centre of gravity is high..
transfer case issues, drum brakes where the shoes cost a fortune to replace, crap brakes that over heat, do a little research and its crap, add to this highway fuel use is insane as it revs too high
Our tree surgeon's Unimog 406 only has 20 forward gears and a low ratio of 4500:1, is this Iveco better?
An Unimog is always better 😄... if you don't look at price. When comparing, a new Unimog is 2 to 3 time the cost of a new Iveco... What's the price of an used Iveco from the same year as a 80's Unimog ? Nearly zero.
This doesn't compete with a Unimog, a Unimog is way bigger and much more expensive.
BTW This Iveco now also has an optional automatic gearbox.
i got one, it reminded me of the fact it's italian. constant break downs
Ill buy it if i live outback.
john doe then buy it then you can move to the outback!!
I want one!...please
Cool.
do some research into the transfer case and brakes, poor design expensive repair under powered and basic design flaws not fixed since the first iteration was released
thx for the tips, but can u give some hints/links about this flaws?
I grew 24 chest hairs while watching this video and my manhood got 37” taller.
Looks to top Heavy for me. Ranger or Toyota any day.
International CXT 350
Baddest truck ever made
Get this instead of the new Defender.
My thought exactly.
I own a couple of series land rovers and a 1987 90, and I’m not sorry to say I agree, I prefer this to the new defender which should be called a discovery!
And being an Iveco it'll be off the road more than on the road for sure
still no match to the unimog... it should have portal axes
I would be nice if they built one that could compete with a Ford F550 for payload. I’d be in for sure. They seem light duty. My F550 weighs 6500 kgs
Do you mean GVM? Curb weight sure isn't 6500kg
@@Jefferson-ly5qe my truck is rated up to 8000kgs gvw. That’s fully loaded. Like I said it would be great to have one but seems light for the size of the vehicle.
@@tractorfixrable holy shit that's huge. What do you use it for? Construction? Heavy towing?
@@Jefferson-ly5qe I’m a mobile mechanic. Classified as a light duty truck. Truck in my profile picture.
@@tractorfixrable I tried to compare the vehicles, but the F550 has a lot of torque that articulated trucks usually have (like Mercedes Actross, Scania S770 V8), in this case you have to compare with various ratios. Also you said (if I have not misunderstood) that your vehicle the fully loaded mass is 8000 kg, the Daily 70c21 also says the name as the fully loaded mass is from 7000-7200 kg (depending on the size), for a vehicle with a 4-cylinder turbo 3L diesel it's not bad. If you want to go beyond what the Daily offers, you will enter at the Eurocargo specifications
Short but precise. It's a shame you can only buy it with a manual transmission. Here in Spain the 16 speed HI-MATIC automatic transmission is also sold. It is much less stressful and more fun to drive.
Greetings from Spain.
I was expecting more torque for that price
Dennis F the torque is pathetic!!
Ever heard of tatra...?
Funny how noone can beat a 1960 Mercedes OM647 engine to this very day!
They regularly break 1million miles
Dont even break in until 400k!
I'd say maybe a Cummins performs the same or very similar
Ok, let's have a head to head with a Unimog and see how it matched up.
I'm going to order two of these and go find Sasquatch and his clan.
I think that truck is absolutely awesome, but yeah - too expensive.
is that front bar from iveco?
It's from a company called Trojan Systems based out of Eumemmerring (near Dandenong) in Victoria.
Yea Na ! They look ok at first , then you realise it's a $110 000 FIAT . No way , Bra !
You can get a 4x4 hino/Isuzu dual cab truck with tipper tray and way higher towing capacity for less than this, also bigger displacement.
Massively overpriced.
But are they as capable offroad? I don't think so. They're a better proposition for the more highway oriented though.
High centre of gravity
Not really, don't get confused by the high cabin, all the heavy crap is under it.
100k! No automatic gear box....but it comes with 100 dollar sunrasia rims!
The one bad point is that price !! That's crazy.. $110,000.. yeah I'm good..
A 200 series LC is $120,000 and a 79 series with all the bad design points sorted would be about that too!
Triton with some mods that will get you to the Cape and back - 45k
Not bad considering a new ford diesel is around 95,000. And they are crap.
@@nathanielcurrell8076 can’t compare a car with a truck.
@@chrisbailey7106 bro I just did
That what I like 2 see just a manual all the way
Can we buy this in NZ
God the comment here, and I thought being from Australia we racist here,
How ab0ut wading
Is this a 3080 ?
It's not a bummer......... Need I say more
$110k.... Comes with squeaky brakes standard
Yeah there's obviously mud in there. Move on mate.
I will get one for 30 000 new... You can get UAZ or MAZ for that price.
For 100 000 you can get Kamaz 3 axle one...Kamaz is 2 levels better vehicle. They win Dakar rally in those things
100k for the base model supersized side by side...I'll stick with my Ford lol.
Bit high cab but
Reminds me of the unimog
My mates dad had nothing but problem after problem he has since got rid of it
Do you have Unimog over there
Yes we do. There's a company who imports and modifies them for touring
Can’t drive them on a car licence, they cost 5 times more, so a completely different segment
Awesome 4x4 but a bit more power would be sweet
For off-road you need torque not power
@@marco_grt4460 ecu should do the trick
It's really a different vehicle on the off road
The tray is too small for a payload
94k?
Hell no!
Toughest 4WD..... Mercedes Unimog says "Hold my beer"
:-D
Might as well change the title to "biggest and baddest after unimogs"
How about a unimog better in every way
To right that’s exactly what I bought😁
@@raymondmckinley5955 I'm on my second Mog now U2150. A full mechanical going over, chassis paint job etc and still cheaper than Iveco. New Discovery 5 ( sorry, "Defender") not on my radar at all but I have a S1 and a 1978 Range Rover!
Great off road but you have to drive on the black stuff to get there. How noisy is it in the cab at 100k/h on the highway? Manual transmissions went out with button-up boots.
I would daily that daily.
I appreciate your “tree/bush pinstripes” comment so thumbs-up!
Across our lovely and bumpy flat earth, the Iveco appears to be a driven-wheeled-thing not worth more than base-mid $38,999.98. I give it that much value, as give them credit for a fantastic start. Search: First Hyundai USA
Fiyatı belli oldumu
22 forward gears? SO more than a Kenworth? I that really needed or what.
24 forwards, but only 6 at a time. Think of it as high and low range like a normal ute. But with two more in between.
Honestly..
Fuso-Mitsubishi Canter 4x4 dual cab chassis, coming down at EUR 29000... versus the Iveco Daily 4x4 dual cab chassis EUR 62000. 33k difference and I guarantee the Fuso will get you to the same places and you have 33k left....... You can literally buy the Fuso twice.
Great feedback. Thanks!
Son buenos coches
The Unimog would be the biggest and baddest 4x4 you could ever buy
My 2500 ram will go anywhere i want to and back no problems and drag this thing along with it plus a 3ton van all in a cabin the family are comfortable in.
Add the fact my ram had a decent truck sized donk at 6.7lt and 2x the torque... well i dont see a reason to even think of testing this.
Cool concept, needs a bit more kit and at least a 5.0lt donk and 800+nm
i chose the same for the same reasons
@Jakob
Try tow 2 ton trailer with a 2.5 ton excavator on it plus 3 -400kg in the tray.
Let me know how the low gears go at 100kph.
As a 4x4 the iveco looks great, as a all rounder? hmm. Work to do yet.
@@xr6tgtx737 I'd hand over my Power Wagon for one of these any day of the week. Unfortunately you can't buy these here.
@@WilliamStewart1
I'm not stopping you from doing so mate.
You'd be in the 1 percent though.
Absolute idiot.
Trade a proven track record rig with 2x the power that can fit down more tracks for a top heavy under powered iveco... Yep your in the 1 percent

Oath mate, just crawl over a few hatchbacks
i got one... 2017 model. same color. not 4x4, but 4m cargo bay. wanna trade?
