    Weigthed pull ups rows and weigthed dips (or push ups) are the king exercises for all the upper body.

    • @LairdRoss
      @LairdRoss  5 месяцев назад +10

      Yeah I agree but bench press can be greater than dips, different overload angles

    • @YeahTheDuckweed
      @YeahTheDuckweed 4 месяца назад

      @@LairdRoss i was about to say, haha. dips emphasise lower pecs and triceps iirc whereas flat bench kinda just slams the whole chest as well as front delts and even incline bench does a pretty good job of recruiting front delts while shifting the emphasis just a little bit to the upper pecs. high-volume bodyweight dips are honestly accessories imo

    • @YeahTheDuckweed
      @YeahTheDuckweed 4 месяца назад

      i wouldn't leave out some kind of vertical pressing motion to really emphasise the delt development without sacrificing strength gains ngl

    My routine is 2x10 slow strict pull-ups, chin right over the bar, full dead-hang at the bottom, 2x10 neutral grip pull-ups, same protocol, 2x10 chin-ups as before. Seated cable rows for 3 x 8-12, chest-supported T-Bar rows 3 x 8-12, DB shrugs, 3 x 10-15, and then finish off with 3 sets of supine DB curls laying on a high bench so your arms are perpendicular to the floor at the extended portion for a killer stretch, 3 sets of EZ curls and 3 sets of DB hammer curls!

    I would critique the pull ups: A) Shoot for full reps not partials. Know you're big guy but can always start with weighted box eccentrics and develop strength to perform full reps that way, B) At start cross legs at ankle and flex glutes to prevent swinging pendulum effect in legs. That or place ankles straight-legged out in front for greater stretch, C) Roll head between shoulders at bottom to maintain tension on the lats (arms should stay partially flexed whole time as a result) and D) Start movement by retracting the shoulders blades rather than pulling with the arms, the hands are just hooks/conduit for lats to do most of work (maybe try false grip).. and no kipping!

    Just found the channel mate, great work. How many days a week do you train back? I’ve been working on lat pull-down on plate loaded machine (cable machine in my gum only goes to 100kg which isn’t heavy enough) but finding it hard to feel any type of fatigue in my lats, it’s always biceps for some reason. Same with bent over barbell rows, hitting 75kg but always bicep fatigue, never lats. Going to try and work on pull-ups and deadlifts too now. Thanks!

    • @LairdRoss
      @LairdRoss  5 месяцев назад +2

      Sounds like you start the pull with the biceps. Retract the scapular then think of rowing from the elbows.
      That will 100% be the issue and its very common. With the lapull down think of trying to tuck your elbows into your back pockets

    I just didnt understand how do stone squats perform the same action as rows? I just dont understand how your back could be simulated in the same way.
    I get that you have the same stretch, but the contraction of the muscle doesnt seem there.
    Thanks for all the other tips, you're a beast.

    • @LairdRoss
