@@LairdRoss i was about to say, haha. dips emphasise lower pecs and triceps iirc whereas flat bench kinda just slams the whole chest as well as front delts and even incline bench does a pretty good job of recruiting front delts while shifting the emphasis just a little bit to the upper pecs. high-volume bodyweight dips are honestly accessories imo
@unsinnkim3690 on that makes sense. I just stuck with powerlifting. Have a look at Mark Felix - a strongman. That will give you motivation. Far older than me and still in it with the pros
So awesome to see kids learning young the value of cranking weights in the gym! Reminds me of my dad teaching me how to lift weights when I was young. What a gift.
My routine is 2x10 slow strict pull-ups, chin right over the bar, full dead-hang at the bottom, 2x10 neutral grip pull-ups, same protocol, 2x10 chin-ups as before. Seated cable rows for 3 x 8-12, chest-supported T-Bar rows 3 x 8-12, DB shrugs, 3 x 10-15, and then finish off with 3 sets of supine DB curls laying on a high bench so your arms are perpendicular to the floor at the extended portion for a killer stretch, 3 sets of EZ curls and 3 sets of DB hammer curls!
Thanks pal, I use a similar protocol for my push day; several compounds hitting all angles and then finishing off with supersets of skulls/flyes and another SS of lateral raises with mega slow and strict push downs, finish off with a few sets of slow and strict body weight dips.
Trap bar deadlifts are great for people with lower back injuries or at risk of having bad form conventional style. Keep that head up and count the ceiling tiles!
I would critique the pull ups: A) Shoot for full reps not partials. Know you're big guy but can always start with weighted box eccentrics and develop strength to perform full reps that way, B) At start cross legs at ankle and flex glutes to prevent swinging pendulum effect in legs. That or place ankles straight-legged out in front for greater stretch, C) Roll head between shoulders at bottom to maintain tension on the lats (arms should stay partially flexed whole time as a result) and D) Start movement by retracting the shoulders blades rather than pulling with the arms, the hands are just hooks/conduit for lats to do most of work (maybe try false grip).. and no kipping!
Just found the channel mate, great work. How many days a week do you train back? I’ve been working on lat pull-down on plate loaded machine (cable machine in my gum only goes to 100kg which isn’t heavy enough) but finding it hard to feel any type of fatigue in my lats, it’s always biceps for some reason. Same with bent over barbell rows, hitting 75kg but always bicep fatigue, never lats. Going to try and work on pull-ups and deadlifts too now. Thanks!
Sounds like you start the pull with the biceps. Retract the scapular then think of rowing from the elbows. That will 100% be the issue and its very common. With the lapull down think of trying to tuck your elbows into your back pockets
I just didnt understand how do stone squats perform the same action as rows? I just dont understand how your back could be simulated in the same way. I get that you have the same stretch, but the contraction of the muscle doesnt seem there. Thanks for all the other tips, you're a beast.
I'm gonna have to try out the over head db press. Used to doing doubles but I will try the single. Btw you definitely got some back mass 😁 Hulk Lee got me into doing single db rows. I have gotten very strong off those and I feel like I didn't even do anything unless I did a few sets of em.
@@LairdRoss Good job man 👍🏻 Now I notice again about genetics on building muscle. I am able to shrug the same weights, but don't get that bulked up. Frankly I struggle more than you 😁
Mate go to church and it will be easy. Or honestly just go on a dating app and literally just have a coffee and no more. That way you can meet a stack of people and not sell yourself out.
To get a high quality women you need to be a high quality man. Better yourself, be good and go to the right places and you’ll find her. You got this king!
@jnkz987 I have never heard that before mate. I just mainly stick to powerlifting. It's only really been this year and last that I have really tried to grow the RUclips channel

Thank you mate appreciated. Yeah there is a lot of good stuff in the playlists
Your kid doing the shrugs with you was great... Way to set an example!
Thank you mate. Yeah I try and include them when I can
You forgot one thing. Having an amazing little spotter for those db shrugs ;)
Yes that helps
Weigthed pull ups rows and weigthed dips (or push ups) are the king exercises for all the upper body.
Yeah I agree but bench press can be greater than dips, different overload angles
@@LairdRoss i was about to say, haha. dips emphasise lower pecs and triceps iirc whereas flat bench kinda just slams the whole chest as well as front delts and even incline bench does a pretty good job of recruiting front delts while shifting the emphasis just a little bit to the upper pecs. high-volume bodyweight dips are honestly accessories imo
i wouldn't leave out some kind of vertical pressing motion to really emphasise the delt development without sacrificing strength gains ngl
Mate, you are a phenom. The pursuit of strength is a noble pursuit.
Thank you
Ur lil kids following you doing walks is so fkin adorable lol
Yeah he loves to join in and copy
I really don't know what to say. Seeing a man like you is both motivating and demotivating for me. Congratulations. This is perfection.
How do you find it both mate?
@@LairdRoss It motivates and inspires me to go on and keep on pumping. But I doubt that I will ever grow big like you did... But I'll try. 😉

U r a strong dad sir, I dream of working out with my kids someday. Also thanks for the simple explanation of back related training
Welcome mate. I like to keep it basic
Those single dumbbells press really hits my upper back hard , I love them
Yeah they are a quality exercise mate. Really developes that area
What a darn beast. Cheers legend for the share you won a new scriber here.
Imagine standing behind this bastard in a queue. 💪🏻
Thank you foe the support mate. There is a lot of good stuff in the Playlists
The little champ action following his dad was so cute 🥰

@@LairdRoss no doubt ❤️
Man you've got that Kaz look, really badass movement choices etc
Thank you. Big compliment
Your channel is seriously underrated, I love when channels like yours appear on my home page. In the future can you make a similar video on grip?
Yes mate I can. I train grip to an extent as well.
Definitely adding in a lot of all of these. I just have to put in the time.
Thanks for sharing all the info! You're a legend bro!!
Your welcome mate. Trying to drop a fair bit on this channel

Thanks for the support mate, appreciated
Subscribed! What a wholesome channel! Hope you’ll start explaining reps, sets for deadlifts & overall exercises in general, in future!
Yeah mate I will, just need to reformat a few things. Getting better at talking but now need to work on explaining things in a different way
Nice to see the young uns being interested in dad lifting, good luck mate 🙏

I get that you have the same stretch, but the contraction of the muscle doesnt seem there.
Thanks for all the other tips, you're a beast.
It's a strong isometric contraction of the back, same as the end position of a row if you hold it there
My favorite combo is standing overhead pre$$3$ and pull-ups /chin-ups bodyweight only. I don't use any weight for my pull-ups/chin-ups.
Yeah that is a good one

Yeah the one arm press is great. One Arm rows are also great
how would you go about progressions ?? or just spam em and train them greasing the groove stye but weighted ??
I will do a video mate
can't wait to muck around on some weights tonight
Sandbag Ground to shoulders, Bearhug carrys, pullups ❤
Yeah all good options
Love ya matey Humphrey B 🐻
I never counted on deadlift to build my back.
Weigthed pull ups and rows do all the jobs.
Yeah pull ups go a very long way
Find farmers walks great to hit the back
Couldn’t help notice how the fence on the front house went from wooden to colorbond in the same video.
Yeah they got it done - think it was failing on the other side. Looks better now
How do you keep your kids from climbing on your while you're working out?
They are smart so they just don't. They know after the set is done we can muck around
Awesome.
Thank you
These sick squat racks pretty last forever right? I gotta get one of these in my garage, I love doing pull ups
Yeah they do. Still want to build the wooden one again

How much you weigh
Now 118kg
On deadlifting I'm currently doing a weight that I can do 5 reps for 4 sets or I should heavier?
That's a good amount then
trap bar shrugs same good?
Yes they are
Whats a good order
Just start mate
I spent too much time benching and curling like a dumbass, only recently i saw the light and started focusing on back and shoulders
Yeah back and shoulders will also greatly help the bench press
