    Very cool video. We (I'm a USAF veteran) experimented with forward swept wing designs back in the 80s/late 90s with the Grumman X-29. While the forward swept wing (FSW) offered some benefit, it wasn't a game-changer for aircraft design nor was it unique. The Germans experimented with FSW designs in WWII.

    • @thatGUYbehindthemask

      id still say that theyre pretty unique, as there have not been many aircraft produced with forward swept wings, its a bit of a rarity.

    Su-47's front swept wings makes the jet itself look kinda sexy, and the F/A-22's design is makes it look like an aggressive fighter (if only the payload is mounted on the outside).
    I love both on Ace Combat, the Su-47 could take sharp turns and the F/A-22 is easier to maneuver.

    The Russian and US/NATO militaries will never go head to head so you guys might as well stop the speculation about who has the best planes, etc. At best we will see proxies fighting it out using hardware from these nations and not much will be proven. For the time being, it is safe to assume that Russia lags behind the west because it had major economic issues during the 90s and lost approximately a decade and a half... if not in development of new systems, but in deployment of said systems. if anything, the path of development shows the military philosophy of the nations. The US, with it's obsession with stealth, indicates it is concerned about aggressor, first strike capabilities, whereas the Russian planes, obsession with speed and range (to cover a vast, vast nation) are more defense oriented. Defenders are more concerned about showing up quickly with ample firepower to repel invaders than not being seen.

      Russia still has thousands of nukes.They've already said that they'll let them loose if anyone attacks them. Clearly they don't have Cold War era levels of nukes, but what they have left is ample to the task of obliterating each and every NATO nation.

      mwjppgg I'm not that deep into the topic,but I think NATO HAS the better systems.Not sure though,just (for example) can't remember ANY video of a Russian plane showing maneuverability even close to the Raptor (this vid sure doesn't).
      But however, even if the Russians had 20000 well maintained fighter Jets far superior to the Raptor or the other way around,results would stay the same: Both sides could vaporize the other with nukes. And they'll never ever do that. Nor will China think of something like that.
      Because capitalism has long taken over the earth,and big scale war would totally screw business.

    Omg... SU-47 is a flying lab. It was created to test some technologies for the real development of next generation jet. Mainly composite fuselage building technology. • @AlmightyDude420
    @AlmightyDude420 9 лет назад +17

    Listen people-The Su-47 is NOT a fighter jet and never will be-It's purpose is a research aircraft, like the X-planes. There is no way they would put the Su-47 into service due to it's extremely unstable airframe. The plane itself is only meant is basically just meant to collect data of pros and cons for forward swept wings. It has some good pros for maneuverability, but it's extremely unstable and the wings will bend either upwards or downwards (depending on maneuver) and can theoretically break off if the speed (weight from the air under or above the wings) is too high. There is NO way they would have this thing in service-it's an EXPERIMENTAL plane-it's meant for TESTING, not fighting.

      The Russians rendered the F-22's stealth capabilities to basically being useless. The engines of the F-22 put out noise in the TV radio band., At least five years ago the Russians had tracking equipment that locked on to this radio band and it doesn't even require radar! You don't think their ground based tracking stations can uplink to the SU-47's in the air with this data? Come on! Plus the F-22 can go nowhere near mach 2.6

    • @Drealias
      @Drealias 10 лет назад

      Mr. Lowery This doesent matter if the russian plane cant even lock hes missiles(i mean the radar guided missiles) and shooting infrared or laser guided isnt even possible becuase in a combat situation russians planes cant even get close enough to shoot .in 21st century manouverabilty isnt a big factor anymore.you can make the plane as agile as you want it wont matter.

  • @douglasaranda2010
    @douglasaranda2010 10 лет назад +15

    Low frequency, old radio radars can "see" stealth planes like F-22, the thing they don't say is that it only happens too close, that radar would be destroyed before it sees it. And in a pack of F-22s and F-18 Super Hornets, some carrying eletronic war measures can make any Pak/fa and Su-35Bm look like nothing.

      ***** You are talking thousands of combat sorties and a few shot down by AAA and SAMS. That's like a kill ratio of .0001. Nothing to brag about. And those are surface to air engagements. No B-2 has ever been shot down. Now your just making stuff up. But air-air? No one has ever shot down an F-15 ever. It has minimum 104 kills to zero losses. Now that is something to brag about it. We got it. You don't. Unofficially? What does that mean? It means you can just throw out any unverifiable numbers you want. I can do that too. Yea, I remember an American pilot shot down 27 Russian migs in one day. Before breakfast. Unofficially that is.

    Beautiful aircraft both. I know the reverse swept wing has been tested by the U.S. through the 90s in a series of X - aircraft. I don't know why they didn't make an operational fighter out of that program. The F-22 is simply amazing. Stealth, maneuverability, super cruise, it has it all. When the Russian and Chinese next generation fighters become operational it will be interesting. However I am sure they have a lot of wrinkles to iron out. The F-35 in spite of all the bad press is going to surprise a lot of people.

    For another, its radar-evading “stealth” capability is significantly limited, as we know from two F-117 “stealth” casualties in the 1999 Kosovo air war, and its ability to detect, identify, and engage enemy aircraft at very long range with radar-controlled missiles relies on a technology that has repeatedly failed in combat. Finally, the F-22 compares roughly in close-in air combat to early versions of the F-15 and F-16. June 2012, that unexceptional agility was on display when German pilots flew Eurofighter Typhoons successfully against F-22s in mock dogfights.

      Егор Марчук можно я скажу кое что
      Пак-фа твой любимый, делается по тем же принципам что и ф22
      и он еще не доделан, скорее всего на нем появятся такие же сопла плоской формы.. и знаешь почему??? ПО ТОМУ, ЧТО ИСПОЛЬЗУЕТСЯ ТЕХНОЛОГИЯ ПОНИЖАЮЩАЯ РАДАРНУЮ ЗАМЕТНОСТЬ!???? ты не думал почему самолеты так похожи? а очень просто: потому, что форма их выполнена таким образом, что бы уменьшить количество направлений в которых отражается сигнал радаров. А делается это очень просто.. все поверхности самолета идут под одинаковыми углами.. можете присмотреться..
      су-47 не пойдет в серию по ряду причин одна из которых - отсутствие подходящих материалов.
      Первыми самолет с обратной стреловидностью крыла построили немцы где то в годах 43-44(если не путаю).. то есть еще во время великой отечественной войны. Но ввиду отсутствия материалов, которые выдерживали бы такие нагрузки ( а там релаьно другие нагрузки идут) проэкт был закрыт,
      за тем годах в 70ых ( могу врать..поищите в том же ютубе.. гдето должна быть более точная инфа..) Американцы построили самолет с обратной стреловидностью крыла. а позволило это им появления новых компазитных материалов, но проблемы которые были еще у немцев так до конца и не решились, по этому проэкт опять заглох, ну и наши построили.. че мы хуже других что ли? применили еще несколько хитрых приемов, но опять же.. те проблемы решить не удалось - и проэкт остался опытным образцом, на котором обкатывали некоторые конструктивные новинки..
      "стелс говно" как вы тут выразились на сегодняшний день чуть ли не главная харрактеристика у современных самолетов,
      это не значит что они все треугольной формы "а ля ф117", а просто занижение радарной заметности - очень важна.
      есть такая харрактеристика... не помню как точно называется.. что то типо "эффективная площадь отражения" или как то так.. измеряется в квадратных метрах.. это очень условная еденица.. она тупо сравнительная..
      так вот.. у того же су-27 ( да и всего семейства этих самолетов) эта величина около 23 квадратных метров, а у ф22 - порядка полуметра.
      вот и думайте про "стелс говно" которым всем пудрят мозги.
      с другой стороны что ф22 не достаточно хорош для своего поколения - уже другой вопрос, но у нас сейчас ваще нет нормального самолета 5го поколения.

    • @egorfomin5671
      @egorfomin5671 10 лет назад +3

      Егор Марчук
      Да не ужели введите Х-29 в поисковике, посмотрите что он уже до нас был сделан. Но есть проблема, ни у одной из стран нет на данный материалов такого класса, которые бы выдержали такие нагрузки, именно это не дает запустить в серию, патриотические слюни лучше оставлять при себе и холодно смотреть на вещи. Я уже не говорю про то какое оборудование стоит у нас в самолётах и какое у них и на базе чего это оборудование сделано.

      про радиозаметность хз, по моему технология стелс уже устарела, ибо сейчас очень мощные современные радары, так что на самолётах 5-го поколения как можно более обтекаемый фюзеляж делают скорее за непревзойдённые аэродинамические качества( макс скорости, набору высоты и маневренности), а не из за радиозаметности

    There is no comparison between the 2 aircraft. One is in production (and operation), the other is experimental.
    Even at "experimental", there existed a US version of forward swept wing, the X-29 in the early 80's. SU-47 is a couple of decades behind.
    Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The FSW looks modern and pleasing to the eyes. Beautiful? Yes, it surely is. Functional? that is questionable. FSW is highly unstable due to positive pitching moment at the wing, thus requiring additional hardware to monitor and maintain the negative pitch attitude (hence, the canards in front and control surfaces at the tail). Not to mention that high speed flight will twist those wings breaking them in half, thus more advanced material is needed (composite, namely carbon graphite and boron). No secret about that. Then, the maintenance of the advance composite is a nightmare...
    Downtime, maintenance cost, survivability, controlability, maintainability and reliability. All factors must be considered before making any weapon system operational. That was why the X-29 remained an "experimental aircraft". Only the foolish would want to make any FSW operational.
    There is no comparison. Operationally speaking, the F-22 beats the SU-47 hands down.

      Tony y: Es cierto que el Su-47 es un avión experimental, pero si se le habilitaran las capacidades de combate y se colocara en un Dogfight entre ellos definitivamente el Su-47 gana por su alta capacidad de maniobra en cualquier altura y velocidad, y si le añades que ambos son aviones de generación 5 es mas probable que se presente un escenario de pelea de perros porque la avionica de ambos paises es excelente. Imagina que yo piloteo un Su-47 y te lanzo un misil en tu F-22 y tu a mi tambien al mismo tiempo. Como los misiles de ambos paises son excelentes influye mucho la maniobrabilidad del avión para evadirlos independientemente de las contra medidas que se usen. No es un secreto que el F-22 no es tan maniobrable como los aviones rusos. Admitelo. es un hecho. Observa los cerrados y rápidos "split S" que hace el Su-47 contra los lentos y obtusos que hace el Raptor en este mismo video. como las contra medidas de ambos aviones son excelentes definitivamente tendrías un dogfight con migo porque los misiles no darian en el blanco y justo alli es donde te derribaría por no tener la ultra alta capacidad de maniobra en el dogfight. La unica ventaja del Raptor es su velocidad de crucero. Es supersónica y es constante, además de que esta diseñado para las grandes alturas. esto sería tu seguro de vida para escapar de una muerte segura si aceptas el baile con un Su-47

      The video has a stupid title. that aside, just because X29 and SU47 both feature forward swept wings doesn't make SU47 "decades behind". You're overlooking major advances in computer technology at the very least.
      And your reasons for "why the X29 remained experimental" are generalized and ambiguous. The experiment ran its course. Findings from the experiment drove newer DARPA/JPL projects, newer uses of composites, and better fly-by-wire interfaces, and the like in many new aircraft.
      Operationally, the F22 has never flown against, nor will it fly against, the Su-47. The comparison is pointless.

    Тупое видео , почему не показали Su-35 или Su-50 (Т-50) машины которые реально есть , стоят и скоро пойдут на вооружение ?
    Su-47 это просто лаборатория для испытания новых систем , а первоначально его хотели сделать истребителем пятого поколения , но в конце отказались и отдали предпочтение Т-50 .
    I transfer from GOOGLE TRANSLATOR. Video nonsense, why not show Su-35 or Su-50 (T-50) of the machine that really is, are and will soon go into service?
    Su-47 is a laboratory for testing new systems, and initially it wanted to make a fighter of the fifth generation, but in the end refused and preferred T-50.

      +gljay not flaws, it's too complicated and cost more than archive can make with technology at that time. It good in theory but in building and testing show it too complicated to make and the chassis have low life if apply that kind of design since alluminium not strong enough to keep the frame from broken if you do those kind of maneuver and Titanium is too expensive to make mass production. That why Su47 using titanium frame never got mass production since it too complicated to make, expensive and archive not much compare with su37. so Su47 end up being prototype for PakFA T50 and some features was the base for later Su 27/30 update

      And even other technologies like the U2 that was thought to be impossible to shoot down, was shut down by a Russian missle... Russia raised that bar so high that the US made a 180 on all their aircrafts that were in development. XB-70, B-1A, SR-71, U-2 and future programs were all either modified, canceled or re-purposed.

      Беркут - дорогая игрушка. Да, он сверхманевренен и быстр. Но он светится на радарах, как новогодняя ёлочка, дорогой как сто чертей, слаборемонтопригоден(из-за пары царапин выкидывать всё крыло), да и от пары сантиметровых дырок в крыле разваливается. Почти как Раптор под дождём (в сухую погоду F22 не светится "сбейте меня"). Так что Су47 НЕ ПРИГОДЕН в серию. Это экспериментальный самолёт, летающая лаборатория, но не истребитель. Но можешь себя утешить тем, что ПАК ФА на половину Су47, а то и больше. Наработки "Беркута" никуда не пропали, его клепали не зря. Просто америкосы сказали "плевать, что Раптор чудо в перьях, в серию!" (можешь посмотреть в Интернете инфу о применении этого уродца в Ливии, и от души поржать), а русские "пока не будет стелс, нагибатор, дешёвый, и ремонтируемый кувалдой и №?%@ матерью, никакого серийного производства!", а Беркут хорош только в выписывании фигур высшего пилотажа. Впрочем, F22 тоже:)) А вот ПАК ФА - крепкая рабочая лошадка, способная заменить этих всех МиГов и Су-*, в то время как Раптору уже пророчат свалку.

      Actually, it's the Su47 which is cancelled... Only 3 experimentals were made.
      The F22s are flying, 188 of them, they just cancelled further orders due to costs.
      This forward wing design was tested by NASA a long time ago (don't remember the name of the prototype), guess the Russians tried to copy 30 years or so after, but with no results either.

      The F-22 was canceled due to cost. However it will resume after 2017 when a squadron of F-35's are delivered.
      The F-35 program is definitely not canceled and Jets are still being made to this day.
      The F-22 is not grounded and in fact has been successfully bombing ISIS completely undetected for the past few months now.
      The SU-50 is getting a HUGE budget cut to less then a quarter of what it was originally and only a small number of the SU-50's will be built. Why? The prototypes are having serious malfunctions.
      America is used to everyone saying our weapons just won't work. A-10 was said to be a complete joke and waste of money and will never have any true use. It become the most feared infantry support plane in war history. The F-15 will never be able to compete with the soviet unions smaller faster and more maneuverable MiG's (It has shot down ever MiG it faced in a dog fight and has never lost to a Russian MiG).
      Truth is, American jets have always been superior. Some said the F-22 would NEVER be used in any conflict. Its been bombing ISIS and escorting B-2's on all bombings and assault mission's since August of last year.
      When China or Russia invade our airspace we don't scramble F-15's, F16's or F-18's. We scramble F-22's.
      Here is a FF (Fun Fact), America purchased 2 SU-27's (Russians most advanced fighter) from the Ukraine. 2 of Ukraines top pilot (Both served as Russian flight instructors for the soviet union) flew the SU-27's in a live simulation against the F-22. The results were the same in every simulation, the F-22 shot them both down without ever being seen or detected. The Ukrainian pilots couldn't believe it. What was considered to be the greatest fighter jet in the world is nothing more then a sitting duck or target dummy for the F-22.
      I don't know if the F-35 has faced them because nothing has been mentioned yet, but if it does, will let you know.

      +Vlad C another reason for war, to keep the planet from being over ran by humans (and it's reasonably close to that now).. look at ants, they go to war with each other all the time for space or what ever other reasons they slaughter each other's colonies.

    • @twinblade02
      @twinblade02 8 лет назад

      Rexford L That isn't a very good analogy... I mean.. ants are small and well.. they're small, and they don't leave a footprint.
      Humans, on the other hand, dominate the planet as one of the most advanced civilizations to have ever existed.
      If humans go to war on grounds of territory, all the ever do is "occupy" land, thereby giving them more space to sustain a new populace (victor's perspective, obviously). Whoever is lost in the war is replaced by people in the next generations. It makes no difference because there was no change in the long run (I'm discounting political and other motives to this because it is irrelevant).
      Earth will still be overrun by humans.
      However, we can apply that analogy to... let's say.. a war with a different species.

    I have no idea whose jet is better, all i can say is everyones country has corruption issues, financial issues, moral issues, and many others, planes should be the least of our worries at this point.
    I live in America, i served in the military, but i am not sure what we are fighting for anymore here. The right to murder the un born ? The right for man on man to be as the president said, viewed as honorable and admirable as woman and man relationship ? Are we fighting for the schools to continue brain washing our kids ? Are we fighting so the secularist can continue spitting on the men and women who fought for their freedom to spit on their graves ?
    I do not know much about Russia, and many other parts of the world, but i do know that if America looses i feel absolutely nothing as a result. America needs to hit rock bottom to remember why she even exist in the first place. Americans and Europeans both need to be taken down a notch.
    We will have a financial collapse, a corruption from within, and there will be no war planes or any of that, it will be game over for us before it even starts. This is my prediction

      Су 47 хороший самолет в плане маневренности, но по живучести очень уязвим поэтому его и не решились брать в качестве основного для использования в ВВС России
      для этих целей принят для разработки т 50 (он же пак фа) который по сравнению с F 22 имеет большую маневренность, большую живучесть, большую дальность полета, большую сферу поражения целей, большую макс скорость и намного дешевле (примерно вдвое по стоимости экземпляра), но есть и то в чем он ему уступает: т50 более заметен, большие габариты, проигрывает в крейсерской скорости
      в реальном бою кто выйдет победителем зависит от многих факторов, но примерно предсказать на основе технических характеристик можно попробовать:
      если F22 сумеет раньше обнаружить и подкрасться используя свою незаметность, а затем и нанести удар (на что он вполне способен) то Сушке хана, ну а если не сумеет то быть ему дорогостоящим решетом..
      правда нужно добавить что F22 серийный самолет, и их уже имеется в наличии около 200 штук, а вот т50 пока только прошел летные испытания и в серию не поступил (имеется лишь около десятка опытных образцов), в серию его планируется запустить в 2015 году

      +jack sandel Cant really make this case yet. Nobody can because nobody knows anything about the PAK-Fa. There are a handful of them v.what...127 F22s and the Russians arent talking but based on just basic stealth conformity it seems like the F35 the PAK-Fa is a front only stealth fighter. You just cant have exhaust blaring out the back unaffected without a serious heat plume which means a heat seeker will go right up its ass in a second. As we know the F22 cools its exhaust... it doesn't have this footprint. So i would say the F22 based on these observable features is the superior stealthy aircraft.
      The one that is even more of a pityful comparison is the PAKFa against the F47 or as it will be named once out of the X stage. Can you imagine the type of turns you can pull when you dont have to worry ahout a pilot blacking out form G force?

    Красивая конечно получилась машина... Но он же экспериментальный. В массовое производство его не запустят. Наверно нет смысла, т. к. летные характеристики он все равно не смог превзойти той же сушки 27. Смысл напрягаться с обратной стреловидностью если в ней нет преимуществ?
    Хотя все-таки пару неоспоримых преимуществ все-таки есть, но если выполнять такие маневры - огромная нагрузка на крыло (отвалятся еще)...
    Ну или может задел на 6 поколение готовят. Если с материалами получится решить вопросы (слышал сейчас какой-то материал новый по весу как алюминий, а по прочности - выше титана и это не придел). Тогда может и начнут штамповать обратное крыло... И еще предстоит решить вопросы с тряской (такой самолет сильно трясет, что является неприемлемым). Как только эти вопросы решаться - думаю мы увидим самолет нового поколения с новыми характеристиками и возможностями.

      Umm, how do you figure. When they've been in dogfights in recent years, American fighters always came out on top…

      GhOstiUS2011 you just cant miniaturize your avionics, thats why your aircrafts are supersized.

    • @chrisholt4804
      @chrisholt4804 8 лет назад +1

      +. F-22 pilot will be on his way home comfortably after his kill with more than enough oxygen. also another victory story

    • @monsieurboks
      @monsieurboks 8 лет назад

      Chris Holt Then he'll crash right before landing because of the many reliability issues with F-22s. Despite these issues, it is still by far the best air superiority fighter ever made, however. That says a lot about American engineering.

    • @chrisholt4804
      @chrisholt4804 8 лет назад +1

      +. shit I don't disagree with you there. however. American engineering is designed to win. thus my statement at the beginning. looks dont matter. also, with the constant updates of radar systems being replaced I would put a super hornet against the SU and it would win.

    The Russian Sukhoi Su-47 looks awesome, even though the F-22 got more time, the SU-47 Leaves the F-22 Raptor dead in the water.

      Lol, your joking atleast the f22 has been in combat the SU 47 has been discontinued and only 4 was made not to mention it didn't even have thrust vectoring and it didn't have a combat record at all.

      +Issiah Gordon Yes.I does NOT have trust vectoring(dunno even why make a new gen aircraft with old tecnologies).PAK-FA is 3 times cooler(not the best,but just someone who has a bigger chance to win in a dogfight with a F22).Peace!

      +Rey Mysterio LMAO, No they can't because they failed to ever reach Mach 1, They made 2 and they both became too unsafe to fly. So they wasted money confirming what the aircraft they copied proved 20 years before they copied it.Parked in a museum because they could no longer fly them without them falling apart. No wonder they are broke and can't finish a fighter n aircraft in Russia. They are working on the 3rd failure now. Still building Soviet designs and outdated copies of soviet fighters with new titles.

      FantaZ4U Watch this video again. Not all maneuvers have been made with the use of afterburner.
      ROFL. The SU-47 from the beginning was experimental / flying laboratory.

    • @FantaZ4U
      @FantaZ4U 8 лет назад +1

      Rey Mysterio May have but never could reach Mach one and shook itself to pieces trying to break Mach 1, It was a total failure as far as a fighter and only fed the imagination of ignorant people. They wasted all that money trying to prove a concept than many others proved to be useless. A flying laboratory they copied but was a waste of tine and money for propaganda purposes.

    • @gemofall

      It was my childhood love...the X29s. But having been in business i can say that its only a failed research platform rather than anything. Same is the case with this SU 47. Even worse. I wonder what's the use of these tailplanes on 47s. Anyone? The wing fairings are more stressed in forward swept wings and canard are there to compensate for the trapped shockwaves which worsen the stall characteristics unless more expensive materials are used.
