    Family celebration: A CHILLED START TO SONGKRAN 2024 🇹🇭
    • A CHILLED START TO SON...
    Today I’m joined by Opal from ‪@opalstoryofficial‬ and ‪@DannThai‬ to try what Dann is calling the spiciest Thai food dish he's had in Bangkok! While we had a lot of fun, nothing was actually too over the top spicy. However, if you don't like hot dishes, this place isn't for you!
    Beer Hima เบียร์หิมะ is located in the Chatuchak area of Bangkok and is a classic Bangkok seafood restaurant. It's got a Michelin recommendation for what it's worth.
    It was also quite expensive at 1800 THB for four dishes and some drinks but I think that was due to the fish egg soup. I would definitely come for the gaeng prik - chilli beef curry, though, especially if I was visiting the area to go to Chatuchak for instance.

    My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past five plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this RUclips channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!
    If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!

    3:47 I'm Thai and and i never heard of "Kaeng Prik" in my life but i call this one "Kaeng Phed" which is spicy curry, and I'm from Songkhla which is in lower southern part of Thailand, for me and i believe most south Thai people not consider this curry as spicy as the name of it, it almost 0 spicy, the real deal what we consider spicy is "Kaeng Tai Pla" แกงไตปลา or south people call "Kaeng Pung Pla" แกงพุงปลา especially when you eat it in local south people house, that's the most spicy curry in Thailand. I don't know if you ever try but you should at least once. Tips : if you gonna find Kaeng Tai Pla find the restaurant that serve dark and thick version of it because clear version in Bangkok all of them only salty 😄

    Especially when you said that in English that would be like f**kin' hot. I would eat every one of those dishes, and I know how it takes three or four or five minutes before you feel the heat, but that way you get to enjoy the taste before it hits you. Nice collaboration, good to see you guys get together.

    Gary, how many chilis you normally order in Somtum? and compare to the Jungle Curry and Chili Curry, what level of Somtum that has equivalence spicy?

    • @theroamingcook
      @theroamingcook  6 месяцев назад +1

      I usually have 5-10 in somtum. It’s hard to say because this was more pepper heat like พริกไทยดำ or ดีปลี with some chilli. I would say maybe 8 chilli somtum with pepper in it 😂

    Hi Gary. We are trying to find a video you and some other youtubers together did I think maybe about 2months ago about some prawn Pad Krapow near the railway station. We are going to do a day and go to 3 different Pad Krapow places...one being Ped Mark, just to tick it off. Then want to compare with 2 others and I remember thinking the one by the railway station looked good. Or any other suggestions, don't mind if we are travelling all over the city to do it as it is a whole day we have set aside. Back in Bangkok in June. Bron and Jon from NZ. We did a bit of a similar thing last year and spent one day just comparing 3 Larb places then 3 Burmese places.
