South Central Kansas here and I remember loving this song, of course I love the Devil Went Down to Georgia and we would sing it on the playground in grade school but later when I was in a country band we played this and it was a real pleasure playing it for people they always loved it.

That's what I like about your reactions is you acknowledged the hypocrisy of TV evangelism but then you connect it to really a much more important and insightful issue. It almost starts to feel like there's a certain evil to it and then you make the point about they're just messing with people's pain and suffering. Damn that is so true and so heartbreaking.

My personal favorite from the Charlie Daniels Band goes back to my high school days, released in the summer of 1973 it's called "Uneasy Rider". Similar story-telling style as "Devil Went Down To Georgia" it brings back memories of some epic road trips.

I took one of my sons to see CDB in early 2000s in Fayetteville, Arkansas with 38 Special and Shooter Jennings. The show was fantastic and Charlie was the best fiddle player to have ever walked this earth. RIP.
