This movie was an absolute trendsetter. We all started wearing black shirt and white mundu combination in colleges and stuff. This is a cult classic. The director has only made two movies including this one but still he is considered to be one of the most iconic filmmakers in the Malayalam industry.
Bro cult is said when the movie didn't do very well at yhe box office but people loved it for many decades to come..premam was a blockbuster so cult can't be used here..its a classic definitely
@@jnyanendrarajbongshi603 Nah bro cult means a group of people regards of what others say they love a certain thing no matter what it is they love that thing so much like they form like a cult so yeah I know many people associate cult with movies which didn't do much at box office but it's not necessary a movie which did good at box office can also have a cult following so the name cult classic
5:44 that's because the movie is from a butterfly's point of view. It gets more evident in the song Malare where the camera just seems to be fluttering. Hence the title is designed that way 🦋
1. Pronunciation Pray-mum 2. The second act is in college. And college guys tend to idealize violence among cliques, their egos get bruised quickly, there are a lot of suspensions and hospitalizations from fights or bike accidents, drinking, ragging. Then everyone hugs it out before graduating 3. Sai Pallavi speaks tamil in this movie if you notice the language change. Cant wait to see the rest 😍
The director associated love to that of a butterfly in this film. He even wanted the camera to be like a butterfly, not staying still at one place. Always flying around. Like love. The title of the film premam(love) was drawn in the shape of the butterfly.
This film made me have a crush on my college guest lecturer. She somehow understood that and ended up failing me in the final exam... Reels ain't real guys ..
The movie run nearly more than 200 days in Chennai/ Tamil Nadu, More than it ran in its Native Kerala ❤️❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Just love the movie, everything about the movie is bliss ❤️😍
Being a Malayali, so happy to watch a Malayalam movie with you guys. This is a cult film in Our state. But not sure if the language barriers affect you guys, in enjoying the movie, because a lot of its comedy is regional I guess. But still you may like it even though you might not fully get it.
I just watched this movie 3 weeks ago. This is the best Malayalam film I have seen. Very heart touching and soulful movie with beautiful love story. Nivin Pauly delivers a brillant performance. He nailed it. This movie is the celebration of generations in Kerala and it was a blockbuster at that time. ❤️
I don't know how much you guys could enjoy this film. Because it's a deeply rooted regional film that's very much relatable to the every 80s 90s kids in kerala. The story itself is not so familiar with the western culture and most of the humours are either pop culture references or comes with the funny usage of the language and other stuffs. But i am sure you can definitely feel the emotions as it's universal. The break up,obsession over the loved ones, friendship and most importantly those soothing soul melting music are very much relatable for everyone.
I think only south indians would really understand this movie. They are many layers in every scene and dialogue. I don't think jaby even understood even 1% of the movie. 😂😂😂 But it's a great movie and thanks for choosing this.
6:00 indian culture is far far different than you think... Besides it that portion is happening in 2000...but now it changed a lot but not enough... Meeting and falling in love with a girl is a difficult task in india😂😂😂
This was my 2nd malyalam movie aftr Bangalore Days.. I was wondering how beautiful they shoot the movies "No items songs " other industry should learn frm them hw give a soulfull movie without exposing women with item song.

Whoaa! Finally Jaby does a watch along for a malayalam movie n its so exciting that its Premam... And I felt that you guys didn't really understand that Malar (Sai Pallavi) is speaking Tamil, ie., She is from Tamil Nadu while the plot is set in Kerala (but there doesn't seem any problem in their communication for both state's people understand n speak each other's language pretty well as Kerala n Tamil Nadu are neighbouring states) so its not only the age gap for them (George n Malar) but also linguistic differences n family n cultural things...all of these are the real factors they come accross which you'll see after this, well I know you've already completed watching it but just wanted you to know this for understanding the whole situation they are having.
Tamil movies have long been popular in Kerala and a lot of people far away from Tamilnadu understand Tamil (as their third or fourth language usually). It also helps that it is a closely related language. That's why there is no explanation as to why George understands and speaks broken Tamil
Fun fact : while acting this movie his age was around 34 he did school boy college student and a matured character after college that's awesome of nivin pauly.....
Man I love this film and sai Pallavi and Paul are grt I have never thought you will make a video on it, it's awesome ✨ it's the emotion of many peoples, I am in ❤with this movie

Wow, this is certainly unexpected... I was expecting JOJI or something, either way, ill take any if it's a Malayalam film... 😀 The title is pronounced "PREY" - "MUM" which means LOVE and the popup text at 4:36 saying "ഇവിടെ, ദിവിടെ" means "Here" as he points at his heart...💗
The boy's behavior in the movie is culturally rooted and shaped. Especially in rural places there is so much public attention on boys and kids. Public would literally intervene and ask what is going on here (yes there is a lot of moral policing). Also parents are very conservative they wont like anything at all what the boy is trying to do. And some times the girl might not take a proposal in a good sense. All this makes boys think twice before approaching a girl and propose to her like in the western context. Although it has improved now, this movie scenes of school days proposal shows the 1990s. It was difficult then. In cities things are different.
